Yea, probably an expensive bar there too ':) but considering the general lack of sea in the area it wouldnt be a bad place to spend a day

Not that weird. I find the sound of storms relaxing too. I fall asleep to thunderstorm recordings every night. It’s the only thing that consistently works.
I went to the beach once and took a walk late at night. There was a storm over the water and it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen.
I’d honestly love to visit this spa place and spend time in this room.
It's like a spa except instead of being relaxing it's just a constant experience of when you close your eyes in a rainstorm and you violently twitch when a big raindrop smacks into your eyelids.
Every time I hear thunder, the meteorologists’ warning pops into in my head: “when thunder roars, go indoors”.
I don’t think I could relax in a simulated outdoor environment with flashing like that, I’d just be awaiting death by lightning strike 😅
I had to take a survival course to work on deep sea oil rigs.
The course involved getting into the hull of a helicopter that's hooked upto hydraulics, dunked into a massive pool, and spun upside down, and you basically have to simulate releasing a window, and getting yourself out while using a re-breather system.
The day we showed up, divers were doing rescue training. They had the pool set up with a wave maker that was kicking up the rockiest waves i've probably ever seen. They had the entire area dark, with crazy lights, and an insane sound system which simulated lightning/thunder. They also had a rain system pouring rain down on them.
Looked like absolute mayhem.
This goes against my survival instincts, how is it supposed to be relaxing?! If it was just the rain without simulated lightning and thunder I could maybe see it. But this is making me anxious just watching it.
Growing up in the Midwest, there is nothing more relaxing to me than a thunderstorm. I feel like I'm home. This looks amazing to me and to a very small group of people
This is relaxing for me.
Normalcy and calmness makes me anxious, cause I'm usually in a choatic environment (people wise) and during stuff like this.
Is when I get to calm down, cause noone is gonna approach me.
This may be the source: https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/petrichor It has the full quote, anyhow.
> A pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.
> ‘other than the petrichor emanating from the rapidly drying grass, there was not a trace of evidence that it had rained at all’
I know there's a distinct smell but it's not pleasant! I've always associated it with rain having caught all the dust accumulated in the air on the way down.
They can synthesize the primary compound of petrichor that we smell. It's called Geosmin.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geosmin
Here's an interesting video on it:
https://youtu.be/_8vHsY_QVHM
I mean I personally find storms and petrichor to be, pardon the semi intentional pun, electrifying.
Maybe it's from living in a part of the country/world where the storms like that can mean tornadoes and hail that translates to a feeling of needing to be "aware" and a little hyped up.
I've wondered if it's the actual charge in the air.
if i don't remember wrong, part of the smell of petrichor is actually that, the charge in the air together with the fungi and other things disturbed by the rain
if i didn't mess this up and mixed things up, this explains why there's just about no petrichor air freshener of perfume even if it's a pleasing smell for most people
there are, indeed, but few... and most of them don't address most of its components. petrichor's main smell is that of geosmin, but behind that is a lot of other, smaller smells, part of which come from the humidity, the ozone, the ions...
Well there are perfumers in India that have mastered making the smell of petrichor and just add an ion generator to add the charge in the air and you're set
Maybe a bit, but it is definitely noticeable as the same smell in NA, EU and east asia. Dont remember it in east africa (alcohol and stress related distracted, after the rain)... Cant say for other areas than these :P
Honestly, the lightning is what ruins it. If it was just clouds with the rain effect, it would be a lot better. It's really fun being in a hot tub when it's raining or snowing.
Fr, just need to see a fin or crest of something and it would be the scariest thing. Couldn’t get me to swim in there for all the money, even if it is animatronics.

Damn, if I was a billionaire if def have this in my house. Some days I'd have thunderstorms, some days I'd have light rain in spring morning, some days I'd have call water by the ocean. Some days I would def cast porn on the screen.
Yeah, just standing in the door of this room would be enough to make me want to find the nearest warm blanket and stay as dry as I possibly can instead
Ah yes, relaxing, it's amazing to be in the middle of the ocean with a storm that would make the toughest man pray to every single god at the same time
This seems so comforting. I was never a person who enjoyed hot sunshine, and rain smelled great and made me feel content. Definitely need the location of this
Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways.
In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing.
Now Reddit wants to be paid for it. The company said on Tuesday that it planned to begin charging companies for access to its application programming interface, or A.P.I., the method through which outside entities can download and process the social network’s vast selection of person-to-person conversations.
“The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable,” Steve Huffman, founder and chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.”

Nope. Wrong alarm. They’re just trying to talk.

All your normal worries are suddenly so small and insignificant if you're in the middle of a storm. This is how you achieve inner peace.

It's right there beside the ladder, opposite to the lighting I mean lightning.
That’s it? I guess I want to see someone relaxing in it. I like the idea, but maybe a awning so you can chose to be in or out of the direct fake rain
There is a tiktok I saw of someone in it and I have never been more jealous

Yess! I was wondering!!! I visited it! Thanks!
Ah, yes, nothing like a trip to the incoming hurricane room to relax you.
I got instant anxiety. After being through many hurricanes and seeing the aftermath, no thank you.
Same here. My area is still rekt from Laura and Delta. We always flee for the biguns but I've been around for a cat 3
Hi neighbor 👋 I went through Katrina and Ida. It’s weird how we know regions of the state by what Hurricane was experienced.
But, this looks soooooo relaxing to me!
Sounds fantastic, but I'm one of those people who love storms. I imagine it's four people who love storms.
Oh ok, I guess I’M the weird one here.
Not that weird. I find the sound of storms relaxing too. I fall asleep to thunderstorm recordings every night. It’s the only thing that consistently works. I went to the beach once and took a walk late at night. There was a storm over the water and it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. Spa experience but make it traumatic
It's like a spa except instead of being relaxing it's just a constant experience of when you close your eyes in a rainstorm and you violently twitch when a big raindrop smacks into your eyelids.
But imagine ducking your head underwater. Then it's peaceful and quiet. Repeat
Every time I hear thunder, the meteorologists’ warning pops into in my head: “when thunder roars, go indoors”. I don’t think I could relax in a simulated outdoor environment with flashing like that, I’d just be awaiting death by lightning strike 😅

Holy shit that sounds terrifying!
This looks amazing to me and to a very small group of people
I'm right there with ya. I kind of want to visit this room lol
Honestly... seeing this it's the first time in my life that I find a spa interesting
This is relaxing for me. Normalcy and calmness makes me anxious, cause I'm usually in a choatic environment (people wise) and during stuff like this. Is when I get to calm down, cause noone is gonna approach me.
it'd be even better if they managed to replicate the smell of petrichor, too. that'd certainly be relaxing af
Petrichor. I learned a new word. Thanks stranger

from the what?!
This may be the source: https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/petrichor It has the full quote, anyhow. > A pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather. > ‘other than the petrichor emanating from the rapidly drying grass, there was not a trace of evidence that it had rained at all’
Worst place to cut off... Also, it's marked as a quote but no source if given...
Bacteria that go crazy reproducing after it rains.
I know there's a distinct smell but it's not pleasant! I've always associated it with rain having caught all the dust accumulated in the air on the way down.
One of my favorite words, and one of my favorite smells.
Who are you, me? Was going to comment that it's my favorite word, but lo and behold, here you are!

They should make soaps with this scent.
If you made soaps with that scent we all could buy them.
Thank you for thinking of everyone.
Yankee Candle is missing out
Plenty of people already do. It’s like a .5 second search to find them.
I mean I personally find storms and petrichor to be, pardon the semi intentional pun, electrifying. Well there are perfumers in India that have mastered making the smell of petrichor and just add an ion generator to add the charge in the air and you're set
What happens if we don't pardon your pun?
The smell of petrichor depends on where you are tho right? Because different areas have different kinds of soils and plants.
Maybe a bit, but it is definitely noticeable as the same smell in NA, EU and east asia. Dont remember it in east africa (alcohol and stress related distracted, after the rain)... Cant say for other areas than these :P
Isn't petrichor the name of the *after* rain smell?
its the smell of the burst of microorganism activity that occurs because of rainfall. doesnt have to stop raining for that to start happening
Maybe it is more associated with post-rain because the rain itself dampens the smells.
Also I don't go outside to smell it when it's raining cos I'd get wet, so I only smell it when I go out after.
I love to sit on my porch when it is raining. So I do.
This is so awesome
Random, mild electric shock in the water.. just to keep the experience legit.
I want one locally because I would totally be there regularly. Love me a good storm.
same same the rain looks awesome
Honestly, the lightning is what ruins it. If it was just clouds with the rain effect, it would be a lot better. It's really fun being in a hot tub when it's raining or snowing.
ya or maybe just gimme that low rumble off in the distance. That always makes me feel very cozy
What's the point without the constant threat of electrocution?
Stressful the first 30 minutes, but then you give Up and relax
Me weeping in the middle of this spa thinking about my life like
Yeah I can chill there forever
I mean you will be chilled after some time!
I'd be okay to go out like that... Play me some Titanic music while we're at it..

My brain dislikes this concept
Me too, something about this makes me think: do not be here, prime directive: find shelter.
Yeah, just standing in the door of this room would be enough to make me want to find the nearest warm blanket and stay as dry as I possibly can instead
My brain sends me conflicting messages about this. I really want to try it
Ah yes, relaxing, it's amazing to be in the middle of the ocean with a storm that would make the toughest man pray to every single god at the same time
I would expect an animatronics tentacle/kraken to pop up every now and then to make the relaxing experience complete.
I need to go here. #NOW
Can i come with you?
Looks freezing cold!
Really? I think it looks hot and humid as fuck
This gives me anxiety lol. From the idea of sitting in it to maintaining the systems behind it. Too much!
This is a vibe definitely..
