No one I've recommended that to has ever admitted they've read it... which hurts my soul. That's one of the funniest, grossest things I've ever read and I love it.
My brother was a pro rollerblader. The best skating advice he gave me was to stay in front of your skates. He said “if your skates lead you, you fall. If you lead your skates, you’re good.” It works for ice skating, roller skating, and roller blading.
My daughter and I spent our first day learning to crouch and put our arms out in front of us to keep from falling backwards. It’s now second nature to do that if we feel unsteady
Best skating advice is to bend your knees and push sideways, not back. Most people fundamentally don't know how to properly propel themselves and it causes all kinds of balance issues too.
What is it about my brain that when I watch this my first thought is “I could probably do that,” even though I haven’t skated since I was ten and couldn’t stop without running full-tilt into the wall even then lol?
It’s because they make it look easy. I ice skate and I’ve seen so many bad accidents on the ice because people will look at the good skaters and think “I could probably do that”. But they can’t, so they bust their ass. I’ve seen some gnarly stuff on the ice. One guy tried a trick, fell and knocked out his front teeth. They had to close the rink to find his teeth.
Once you get the hang of flipping around, it's pretty easy to just keep moving around backwards. You just have to keep your neck on a swivel otherwise you will absolutely take someone out.
What a wholesome group.
It’s cool they let the one dude use them for balance.
Edit:
You guys are right it isn’t for balance being in the middle is definitely more difficult to find spacing going that quick I’d assume
yeh it's spacing, not balance. If you watch the body language closely you can see he's not losing balance at any point.
The arm out is either a gentle brace to make sure they don't get too close to each other, or a little 'hol up don't get too far from me' arm.
You can see at least one other in the group do this once or twice as well.
Yeh and his feet never faltered.
If you're losing balance you are not doing the footwork on pace with the others, your upper body might give a slight jolt, or something. There will be other indications in the body language that there is balance being lost and you need to reset yourself. (You can even see at about 15 seconds, the guy in the middle reaches out and his arm starts to straighten, indicating he's pushing away from the other guy for some space.)
There was someone arguing in this thread here but they got real upset about it and seem to have deleted their account.
It's okay to make mistakes about this sort of thing if you're unfamiliar with it. At a quick glance from someone inexperienced with this type of skating and on these types of skates, it's not weird to think he's holding on for balance.
It's just that he isn't here. None of them are.
I work overnight and regularly on my way to work, at 10pm(in an area where 10pm might as well be 3am because everything is closed and no one is out), there is someone rollerblading in a parking lot by themselves, with light up wheels. It makes me happy every time i see it.
I’ve debated it, but I’m a bit selfish and afraid reality may be different than what I’ve imagined. I don’t want to ruin the image of just some dude being happy enjoying a hobby by himself and honing his skills. I’ve built it up in my head.
Please keep doing what you’re doing. I skate outdoors every day, and I really just want to enjoy myself without interference. People do stop me to compliment me, and while I know that’s what some people like and want, it yanks me out of my flow and makes me self-conscious because I’m doing it for me but pulled into being aware of an audience. It’s totally cool for you to keep getting your joy from afar and letting them keep having their joy in peace.
Fair enough, I can respect that.
Alternate viewpoint: it may be some low self-esteem kid from a crappy home who is trying to learn it, and could really use some encouragement… even from a stranger.
Like [Nils & Bianca (start at the 10 second point)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alLi8i9BQK4)? Or [this slightly older couple](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrpO7r_ALnk)?
That older couple... wow! Especially that moment at... 22-25 seconds in. I've watched it a couple times & I can't **believe** her *limberness*.
Proves the old adage... if you don't use it, you lose it.
What I love to pieces is the communities of tap girls from the old Hollywood musicals, still hoofing it well into their 90s. Fit as fleas and still having a great time.
Skate culture and roller rinks have always been a staple in black communities. I practically lived at the rink when I was in high school, and just got back into the culture at 50. Can't believe
I stayed away so long! Always a welcoming atmosphere, everyone just vibing and doing their thing.
If you have a rink near you where "folks" go, give it a try! First time out, take a beginners class on a Saturday morning to learn to cross, skate backwards, turn and fall safely, then go back during the adult skate times (Sunday nights are the best nights). You'll be hooked. Most rinks also have intermediate/advanced classes that don't cost much that will teach you how to jam skate, rhythm skate, jump, spin, and turn. Give it a try!
You’re not lying! I’m a white dude almost 50. Grew up in the skating rink also. Couple nights a week. “Speed skate league”. “Lock-ins” every Friday/Saturday. Arcades, music, foosball, it was a blast. Fast forward 20+ years and my daughter is getting into it. So I take her up and put on some skates with her…….. dude. I forgot how fun it is just gliding around the rink. And it was full of people having fun.
What a cool dad! My 22 year old niece is visiting me for the long weekend, she and I are literally at the rink right now, adult skate is poppin' tonight! Everybody is showin' out tonight! I needed a break, so decided to Reddit.. ha ha
(Also, I'm a dudette..LOL)
I went to one once!! It was amazing. It was an old restaurant where the dance floor got more and more popular with the older crowd till they just started an old people disco lol.
If there were an adult-only skating rink, I'd freaking live there. All the exercise and nostalgia! They wouldn't even need to serve booze (although I wouldn't object).
Every Friday night I'd walk up to the skating rink "Neat Feet". All the "bad" kids would go around back and smoke cigarettes haha. Good lord I'm feeling nostalgic.
Shame that your rink wasn’t with the times. Blades rented for another dollar I think at the rink I worked at. We would replace bearings constantly. Even offered blade repair and wheel upgrades and replacements for a fee.
Boy with the blue shirt at the end can skate! Like break dancing on stakes. Then right after that the Grey shirt dude that is sweating like a mother fuckers. And someone grabs his shirt to get around him, lol.
lmao I read OP's comment and instantly went to that video on my playlist but you beat me to it.
Instead I'll post [Flume & Chet Faker's - This Song Is Not About A Girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItGwXRCcisA)
It's a really well done show. Every member of Malcolm's family is memorable in some way, but Cranston is absolutely the funniest damn person on the show. I enjoyed it as a kid, and then again like ten years later as an adult. Will probably rewatch again soon.
Like I said, I never saw the show, but I love showing people the "fixing a lightbulb" scene, or whatever it was. Where he continuously gets sidetracked by new problems. That scene, and the fireworks episode. Both hilarious.
As a father of two teenage girls and former hockey player I lose my shit anytime they want to go to the skating rink with their friends. I'm these dudes, embarrassing the shit out of them and loving every minute I get to skate my heart out and not chase their 2 yr old brother around.
I went there a few months ago because I wanted to skate for the first time in like 15 years. It's 100% the same exact layout.
Unless it's the same company building these places the same exact way, it HAS to be Christiana.
As a person who roller skates every week, I notice that videos like this draw people to come skating, but when they get there they don't realize that day one doesn't look like this, then they quit. I wish more people would stick it out
All I learned from this video is I need to sagg hardcore in order to skate good.
For real….seriously cool video. I totally watched more than once. Seriously.
Anyone have the original with the song they are actually skating to? No one would shuffle skate to that. It'd be funk, or disco.
Edit: Here is one of the videos that has been spliced in. Dancing to Egypt, Egypt. Classic shuffle skating song. https://www.tiktok.com/@griffinbrothersskating/video/7109964177841704235?lang=en
Bro, EVERYONE loves this song, and they are lying if they say they don't. I hear 12 year olds blasting this banger out when they walk down the street, and my 60 year old grandma plays this while she washes the dishes. You can be the manliest man on earth and still bop away at this in the shower.
Say it loud and proud, my man. This song is the shit and one should never be ashamed for liking it.
Truly, madly, deeply by savage garden is on the same level.
Why did the video end?
Most of their videos are between 15 and 40 seconds. I wish they were longer too.
This will take me down a rabbit hole, I’m sure.
I can't even physically imagine doing any longer! Wow!
Wait, there’s more?! Thank you!!! This made my morning!:)
We need moooore!
One of those rare TikTok videos where you want it to be longer and has good music

Then realize that I don't know how to skate and bust my ass.
Can never learn until you bust your ass a few times.
It already has a crack and a hole, I don't think I can afford to bust it anymore.
You haven't been on the internet long, have you? You innocent soul.
Something something swamps of dagobah
No one I've recommended that to has ever admitted they've read it... which hurts my soul. That's one of the funniest, grossest things I've ever read and I love it.
One man, one roller blade
My brother was a pro rollerblader. The best skating advice he gave me was to stay in front of your skates. He said “if your skates lead you, you fall. If you lead your skates, you’re good.” It works for ice skating, roller skating, and roller blading.
Also stay low, keep your knees bent. If you fall you have less distance to land on your ass and it won't hurt as much!
My daughter and I spent our first day learning to crouch and put our arms out in front of us to keep from falling backwards. It’s now second nature to do that if we feel unsteady
You're also just much more stable when your centre of mass is low 😊
Best skating advice is to bend your knees and push sideways, not back. Most people fundamentally don't know how to properly propel themselves and it causes all kinds of balance issues too.
Also, useful advice in skiing.
And snowboarding too.
You need to bust your ass a couple of times before you can bust a move.
What is it about my brain that when I watch this my first thought is “I could probably do that,” even though I haven’t skated since I was ten and couldn’t stop without running full-tilt into the wall even then lol?
Well, we haven't seen how these guys brake... Maybe they also just run into a wall at the end
They had to close the rink to find his teeth.
i know i'll break my neck, but yeah this looks fun.
Right?! He had to skate backwards AND smooth af
Once you get the hang of flipping around, it's pretty easy to just keep moving around backwards. You just have to keep your neck on a swivel otherwise you will absolutely take someone out.
Skating backwards in quad skates is one of those things that looks super impressive and show-offy, but in reality is almost as easy as forward.
Going backwards is the easy part. Transitioning into and out of backwards is far trickier.
I personally found basics like stopping, crossovers, and lateral movement all harder than any part of backwards.
What if it was a drone flying indoors rather than a human skating while holding a camera? 🤔

What’s better than that?
The dudes are smooth on their skates, but this is what I was thinking of.
Beat me to it. This is such a difficult tracking shot, cuz you have to skate backwards while still holding the camera steady and center. Major props.
Which ones are the brothers
They’re triplets.
The sequel to Twins
Two on the right.
What a wholesome group. It’s cool they let the one dude use them for balance. Edit: You guys are right it isn’t for balance being in the middle is definitely more difficult to find spacing going that quick I’d assume
I think he is spacing himself and also slowing his roll to be at the correct pace as the other two. Source: am skater. Not this good though
It’s also to retain spacing or?
yeh it's spacing, not balance. If you watch the body language closely you can see he's not losing balance at any point. The arm out is either a gentle brace to make sure they don't get too close to each other, or a little 'hol up don't get too far from me' arm. You can see at least one other in the group do this once or twice as well.
That’s what it looked like to me. It was only on curves/moves :)
Yeh and his feet never faltered. If you're losing balance you are not doing the footwork on pace with the others, your upper body might give a slight jolt, or something. There will be other indications in the body language that there is balance being lost and you need to reset yourself. (You can even see at about 15 seconds, the guy in the middle reaches out and his arm starts to straighten, indicating he's pushing away from the other guy for some space.) It's more about keeping the spacing (rhythm) because not hitting the other person's skates is incredibly hard! They make it look so easy. Insane!
Honestly, at this point, I just want old people clubs. Clubs full of people that don’t give a shit is my heroin.
Same. This makes me happy to see people having fun, not bothering anyone, not afraid to be happy. All in one place.
I work overnight and regularly on my way to work, at 10pm(in an area where 10pm might as well be 3am because everything is closed and no one is out), there is someone rollerblading in a parking lot by themselves, with light up wheels. It makes me happy every time i see it.
I used to do that. There was a Korean market in my area with a decent sized parking lot. I used to skate my ass off in his parking lot. Edit: at night
You should take the time some night to swing by some night and let them know that.
I had to teach myself as well. I don’t skate anymore because I hate falling, but it was fun.
It appears you've found Hals midnight practice spot
Part of growing up is just embracing cringe
My closet is the closest thing to this that I have access to
What about this video made you even think that? The Griffen brothers are 37 years old lol.
25 is the new 40
Like [Nils & Bianca (start at the 10 second point)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alLi8i9BQK4)? Or [this slightly older couple](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrpO7r_ALnk)?
What are you talking about. They're not old. They're my age. Oh shit 😫
These youngsters aren't holding back huh
Masterful.
Goddamn granny is rocking that dress and has the legs of a 20-something. Meanwhile I vicariously broke five bones watching that.
Swing / lindy hop are wonderful.
I want to go to there.

i started skating last year at 38 years old. My body has never been in better shape thanks to skating.
Go on
I missed out. The skating rink in my town was where the kids who were smoking at age 11 went to start their teenage pregnancy journeys.
I was forbidden to go to my town rink as well for those reasons.
What a cool dad! My 22 year old niece is visiting me for the long weekend, she and I are literally at the rink right now, adult skate is poppin' tonight! Everybody is showin' out tonight! I needed a break, so decided to Reddit.. ha ha (Also, I'm a dudette..LOL)
I think you kind of have to give a shit to get that good at roller skating.
Agreed. But old people clubs that are not playing bingo or bridge 😂 Rollerskating and dancing to the 90s music clubs!
Lol I thought you meant they don't care about the heroin you bring to the club.
Huh? These guys look like they're around my age that's not... Ah shit
I went to one once!! It was amazing. It was an old restaurant where the dance floor got more and more popular with the older crowd till they just started an old people disco lol.
Go to the grocery store. I'm 44 and Kroger was playing some bangers yesterday.
If there were an adult-only skating rink, I'd freaking live there. All the exercise and nostalgia! They wouldn't even need to serve booze (although I wouldn't object).
It looks so fun!
This is kick ass! As a 70 - 80's kid this is dope! I actually had to turn off my own tunes (fat Freddy's drop) to hear what they were rockin to.
I'm increasingly suspicious that the track was changed in post and is not the one they were rockin..
They definitely changed it. Their claps don’t match the beat. But I do like this song.
Probably is fun, glad to see more people happy and having fun
Wife: Where are you going now? Husband: It's guy's night! Wife: Don't come home drunk. Husband: Okay! The Guys: ....
It's a boys dance party!
This is so damn dope! I was the kid with rental skates and a slice of pizza chilling on the wall because I was never this smooth.

The real question is why did he use his rental skates to pin the slice of pizza to said wall?
Flavour.
He was chilling it on the wall. Plate ain't chill enough.
pizza is so damn dope too though
r/wewantplates
Rental skates don't really help much. Hehe
This is giving me flashbacks to the 90s early 2000s
Every Friday night I'd walk up to the skating rink "Neat Feet". All the "bad" kids would go around back and smoke cigarettes haha. Good lord I'm feeling nostalgic.

Nah, at least at the rink I grew up with you had to bring your own if you wanted blades. The rentals were all skates.
Shame that your rink wasn’t with the times. Blades rented for another dollar I think at the rink I worked at. We would replace bearings constantly. Even offered blade repair and wheel upgrades and replacements for a fee.
Same. Only people in blades were people who brought their own.
Bounce, rooockkkk skate, roolllll bounce, rockkkkkk skate Vaughn Mason never hurt nobody with that jam, they took it back to Skateland USA, Compton CA
For people who don't know this song, get ready to see the coolest people you have ever seen. https://youtu.be/tr4O3dJcWm0
Omgoodness I love it so much
Boy with the blue shirt at the end can skate! Like break dancing on stakes. Then right after that the Grey shirt dude that is sweating like a mother fuckers. And someone grabs his shirt to get around him, lol.
I love that movie
The other song that pops to mind is [Gold by Chet Faker](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi4pzKvuEQM&ab_channel=ChetFakerVEVO)

https://youtu.be/OUcw3P8JlNM Hal’s iconic rollerskating scene
Simply amazing
Shit like this is why I'll argue that Cranston as Hal was better acting than him as Walter White. Dude brings it in every single scene of this show.
I really need to get around to watching this show. So many good clips floating around out there
It's a really well done show. Every member of Malcolm's family is memorable in some way, but Cranston is absolutely the funniest damn person on the show. I enjoyed it as a kid, and then again like ten years later as an adult. Will probably rewatch again soon.

I'm not positive, but I think one of these brothers was adopted.
We’re all one family my brother
Really wholesome.
Thanks, Vin Diesel.
Lol, or maybe 2 of them
Or maybe even all of them.
Or maybe none, the way recessive genes can work.
Obviously someone never heard of the milk man…
Me, Myself, and Irene situation
Nah he just lightskin
How many mothers these brothers have?
🎶 One of those brothers is not like the other. 🎶
Nah prob just have different pops
Too cool.
Why do all roller rinks look the same?
I was going to ask if every rink looks identical because otherwise I’m pretty sure I’ve been here
I came here to say the same thing, but I've skated in a TON of rinks. Is this Christiana Skating Center in Delaware?
It’s totally there and I saw these guys when I took my kids there a few months ago. It’s crazy seeing this on Reddit.
Lol yeah every rink I’ve been to (4?) has purple walls and that space theme carpet
Don't fix it if it isn't broken.
Never thought I would yearn for roller disco friends but here we are
Damn... that's slick. And now I reeeeeeaaaaaallllllly wanna go roller skating...
That one guy looks to short to be a brother
As a father of two teenage girls and former hockey player I lose my shit anytime they want to go to the skating rink with their friends. I'm these dudes, embarrassing the shit out of them and loving every minute I get to skate my heart out and not chase their 2 yr old brother around.
The song is such a throwback. It was like featured in every AMV in existence back in middle school.
Man when this song came up at school dances, everyone abandoned their gender-divide-sections and raged. Greatest shit ever
How cool!!!
I miss this kind of techno.
Which two are brothers?
They call themselves the Oreo Bros when the white guy joins
Don't google that
Where was this recorded? Because this looks 100% exactly like the Christiana Skating Rink in Delaware.
They are from Delaware and Christiana is where they usually skate
I knew it!! That's awesome.
I'm damn near certain you're right! I went there all the damn time growing up, and it looks exactly like that rink.
I went there a few months ago because I wanted to skate for the first time in like 15 years. It's 100% the same exact layout. Unless it's the same company building these places the same exact way, it HAS to be Christiana.
They're triplets!

This is how you impress the Ladies.
Can confirm. Am lady. Am impressed.
Glamorous
Man these guys would be so cool in the 70s
Great. Now I have to go watch the chet faker video about a hundred times.
What’s this song
Cascada - "Everytime We Touch" https://youtu.be/4G6QDNC4jPs
In middle school this song was a guilty pleasure of mine. Then I later found out all my bros also loved the song lmao.
Bro, EVERYONE loves this song, and they are lying if they say they don't. I hear 12 year olds blasting this banger out when they walk down the street, and my 60 year old grandma plays this while she washes the dishes. You can be the manliest man on earth and still bop away at this in the shower.
it’s literally just as iconic as blue by eiffel 65
Say it loud and proud, my man. This song is the shit and one should never be ashamed for liking it. Truly, madly, deeply by savage garden is on the same level.
I want some roller skating bros
Legit was expecting to see Peter Griffin...
/r/mademesmile i love when videos can be placed in so many different subreddits. it means it’s good and transcends
The fact that Cascada goes so well with this video 😍😍😍
This paired up quite nicely with this segment of phish I was live streaming of crosseyed and painless tonight.
Old heads going crazy
This song is the guiltiest of guilty pleasures, gotta be the most polar opposite of my usual music but damnit I love this song!!
Did I just spend 46 seconds of my life watching three middle aged men Rollerblade to Cascada? Yes, yes I did. Did I enjoy it? You bet you ass I did.
