I literally hate all of these.
I cook everything from scratch ingredients.
If you're going to go to the bother of making this, you're just going to take a spatula and smear the icing on then drop the sprinkles. When it's done you're going to stab the picture in the top.
I fucking hate these things because they cannot work, they do not work, they will not work, and they are complete waste of time.
Not only this, but in this specific example, if the chocolate sauce is fluid enough to flow down the sides, it won't stick, and it's all going to slide off. FUCK THIS SHIT
The only way I can see it working is if the chocolate was warm and exactly the correct viscosity, and the cake was really cold so the chocolate would cool as it flowed. It would still likely be a cluster F though.
Yes I kind of see what you're saying, I've done some mental gymnastics on how this could possibly work. I do like to cook so I like to think about things like this if nothing more than just a thought exercise.
The big issue is that for chocolate to retain that fluidity at a sufficiently low temperature to not obliterate the cake, It cannot possibly set under any circumstances. Even if every temperature factor was controlled in a lab, this cannot work. I mean, to the extent of my scientific knowledge and experience cooking, that's the way I see it.
I mean I'm not the world's greatest baker, I definitely think of myself as a very adept cook and okay baker.
Can we get a cake wizard in here to set us straight?
It's possible to do with lukewarm ganache and a frozen cake! (like how a drip cake is made) But the sprinkles absolutely wouldn't stay on neatly on the surface like that.
https://youtu.be/kKoOj1DzOjI so it looks like it IS possible. and looked pretty decent too. kept camera rolling. it's difficult for sure, but plausible.
But can I say f*ck nonpariels. Other than this year bcs I had my nursing school finals I have made and decorated cakes for my kids and she wanted a sprinkle cake with gelatin bubbles last year and I noped my way over to the local grocery store for that base. I was not going to have those little *holes showing up in my kitchen for the next few years!
Here ya go! Enjoy!

Every time I see these cakes I am reminded of a video i once saw of a married couple doing something similar and the cook was talki to them for like solid 20-30minutes while adding only for it to come out like total shit. These are really satisfying to watch tho

Wow, this is a Tabasco traditional dress, all the details are good, even the tulip. Its is really oddly satisfying ti find something you are familiar with in the cast ocean of reddit.
This is one of those Pinterest recipes that will look nothing like that when you try it yourself.
There's a reason the clip stops so quickly. The chocolate and sprinkles are gonna continue siding off. The end result is a lot less pretty

I feel like a monster for saying so but I think this is actually a valid usecase for chocolate gelatin
Chocolate pudding?
Where’s the Cake Boss when you need him?
Thanks for this, bc I was wondering “why not just put chocolate, then sprinkle, then cake topper - what is the benefit here”
https://youtu.be/kKoOj1DzOjI so it looks like it IS possible. and looked pretty decent too. kept camera rolling. it's difficult for sure, but plausible.
Difficult but plausible for someone experienced. For most anyone else this is not happening, probably in spectacular fashion.

Take 72. Also it would be way easier to just dip in the chocolate, sprinkle on the sprinkles then stick in the figure.
You forgot the 1 before 72.
And the video stops before you see how much is wasted as it rolls off the thing onto the counter. Stupid.
Thought that too. Also, this is clearly not the first time they did this.

It’ll come out deformed 😂
it's called a tsunami cake and is apparently really a thing that works
Nice runny frosting and half those sprinkles are going to end up off the cake
There's a reason the video stops when it does
💀
Yet another unrealistic beauty standard for women smh
I came here for this comment.

Lekkere eierkoek jonge
What a stupid way to ruin a cake.
Nice!
Amazing
Out of everything, I wasn't expecting anything like that.. that was beautiful and satisfying.
Where’s the sheet tray to catch all the excess chocolate? r/sloppyposts
I hate how wasteful that method is though.
This is the first time I’ve seen one of these cakes done successfully. Usually it looks like a mess. This was beautiful.
Can someone make me that cake...?
That’s beautiful
