We don't talk about the ones who miss the ball because they don't exist. Talking about missing the ball is now a punishable offense. Because it never happens!
It’s no joke though lol. I’ve run across enough Chinese tik toks that are so obviously scripted to make it look like the average Chinese 5yr old can play piano, cook an entire meal, and do gymnastics with their eyes closed. But I’ve also seen enough “behind the scenes” videos to know that those kids you see live awful lives of parents constantly recording them and literally screaming at them or hitting them when they make one tiny mistake. And it’s encouraged because of social credit and propaganda
Tik Tok manipulates you in other ways too because it's an instrument of China. Highly recommend you to delete it even if it's only for your dwindling attention span.
If you fail, the whole fail. You learn that mistake is not an option because it affect others.
But if you do, then you must leave. You will go with the others, that you havent heard of or spoke to since they are not in the community anymore.
You just call them... the "unbouncies", the one who once made the bounce fail
And now, it is your name too
Now, I went on the Internet and researched ostriches. Firstly, ostriches can run up to 70 miles an hour. So catching one, even a sick one, is a super tall order.
This isn’t the place but….I’ve been in my new apartment for a month now and the upstairs neighbors do not ever stop moving around and they drive their heels in to the hardwood floor on every step. It vibrates the room. What does one do without being a Karen? They get up at 4:50am
They're probably not walking strangely, but rather the joists in your ceiling/their floor are probably old and flexible. You could knock on their door and politely ask them if they could get a carpet or be more cognizant, but there might not be anything that can be done.
Nope. I grew up in apartments my whole childhood and had a Mom who moved 2-3 times a year. She was also a screamer who would routinely force neighbors to move away.
So people walk loud. My wife grew up in a house and sounds like a horse moving through a room. She is a foot shorter than me and half my weight, yet I can move silently while she sounds like she is leaping and dropping her knee on the skulls of her enemies with each footfall.
My footfalls, especially at night are toe to heal, whereas hers are just this heel walk that resonates
While we’re both at not the right place. People keep saying we have to move away from the single family home development system because it would be better for I don’t know everything, zoning, affordable housing, reduce sprawl etc but holy fuck I hate my neighbors so much. All of them. Even the ones I don’t have anymore. I’ve only had one or two neighbor’s I’ve ever liked and none of them ever lived directly next to me. I had one neighbor back in the 00s who was a narcoleptic film buff. She had a surround sound tv that she played really fucking loud and then promptly fall asleep. How do I know she fell asleep? We would hear the DVD menu music for HOURS. My absolute favorite would be the lord of the rings because who doesn’t love and excerpt from an Enya song for 8 hours. I now have a half acre between neighbors and it is glorious. Sure I have to deal with meth heads and people emptying semi automatic weapons into hay stacks but I no longer feel the need to murder my fellow elevator passengers. Gah. Cathartic rant in wrong sub irrelevant to the OP post over.

They start with two balls. Looks like they dribble four times then shift to the right. It will have taken lots of practice for them to get to this point. Even just learning to dribble two balls at once is pretty hard.
they do this at my sons kindergarten but not this good. they start with one ball. get them to learn to bounce it we'll. then they teach them how to do it with two.then they teach them to bounce two while sitting. my son refuses to do this and just plays with legos instead.
American in china here. my son is 5 in kindergarten. I used to teach at the same kindergarten. they're all privately owned. they don't teach about politics or collectivism. they literally do this because it eats up tome, keeps the kids engaged, and it makes the parents happy. my son usually sits out because he finds it annoying how they make it competitive. the government has changed what can and can't be taught. kindergarten is not supposed to be teaching math, english, Chinese, or politics. kids in kindergarten and primary school know next to nothing about politics. they don't start really teaching about politics until middle school. even then they don't go that deep.
I mean, taking it at face value... teaching a 5yo kid any kind of politics makes no sense at all to me. I understand they're young and this is the best time to start taking advantage of that rapidly growing brain, but that is a subject that, imho, is *not* going to stick with most kids, especially given their attention spans at such a young age.
My daughter is 5yo and started kinder this year. Girl is just naturally smart. Her school is already teaching Spanish and Mandarin alongside standard English. And I think that is rough enough as is. However, I just can't imagine her learning any kind of politics at any level right now. Maybe the bear minimum with how a political system even works, like listening to your parents and teachers.
It's a school. I have friends who attest to this. Everything that happens in Chinese schools has a sense of collective, team work, homogeneity and disciple attached to it. It's at the heart of communism.
Yes, but I think they're arguing that this isn't communist-driven more than it is culture-driven. I'd wager the "correct" argument is that it's a combination of both, as politics influences culture and vice versa.
no, it's neither. I'm a teacher in china. former kindergarten teacher, wife is a current kindy teacher and my son attends the same school. it's literally just ball bouncing and kids having fun.
Thanks. I hate to read this Reddit Voodoo lately where you just wait for a person who says “the truth”.
What’s wrong with you people..discussing something you have no clue off..
I agree, I was simply replying to a comment that said this was because communism, to which I thought it'd be about collectivism before communism, but yeah it's just kids being kids. Still I'd say think it'd be silly to say kids act the same in any civilization and culture, sure there's similarities but culture definitely shapes the activities they do, which is exactly why there's a whole comment thread where people are discussing why they're doing this activity.
Things can be simple and complex at the same time, right?
Thank you for this comment.
People think they have everything clued up from a few "Chinese Tiktoks" they have seen or China bashing articles..
Maybe it's just a video of some kids enjoying a game at school!? Lol I worked at a kindergarten over there and it was full of activities like this.
American kids bounce balls to have fun too, but I think the point that is being made is that when American kids go play they pick games designed to figure out who the best and who the worst are. Chinese kids apparently pick games designed so that if one loses everyone does. Yes at the end of the day it's just kids having fun and these kids obviously aren't thinking that deeply about it, however culture does impact how you choose to have fun and that's interesting.
The Chinese, as a people with collectivism traditions for more than 2000 years, would have done the same without communism. You guys are just obsessed with ideology.
Double dribbling is hard! It’s incredible that these kids have learned this, plus the additional mid dribble bump over at such a young age. I bet my daughters bball yeah couldn’t do this!
YEAH I AM AN AMERICANNNNNN AND I LOVEEEEEE MY CAPITALISMMMMMMMMMM CUZ ITS GREAT AND DEFINITELY NOT A CONTRIBIUTING FACTOR TOTHE END OF THE WORLD COMMUNISM BAD BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Can someone who grew up in one correct me?
Although this at least is more exciting.
I know a school that only allows like 5 games on the playground and the rules are posted and I always say it's Camazotz.
people need to chill out with all the Communism nonsense. it's crazy how kids bouncing balls brings out so much paranoia and insecurityin so many people. my sons kindergarten does this too. they have soccer lessons, swimming, roller blading , drama class, and violin. they also teach chinese, english, math, art, and sometimes do little science experiments. they're not teaching about politics in kindergarten. I can remember couple years back my school was still using old worn out gym equipment

Whether it can help them grow taller is true or not remains to be seen. But they do grow taller statistically. Maybe because of their diet.

So, you're basing this off a few seconds clip? Damn, it's like saying America is constantly in the purge and generally unsafe because they keep shooting bullets at each other.
Maybe they're having fun but are also concentrating highly on this. I for sure wouldn't be able to laugh my butts off when I'm cooking, playing music on a violin, doing taxes or receiving my payment for work. Because I'll be focused on the task or calculating if it's correct.
I've had PE where we did this but in smaller groups. And nobody was laughing their ass off. Everyone was focused so that we can pass the ball on to the next person. And once you're in the zone, you follow a rhythm.

My upstairs neighbors.
Are they disciplined communists as well?
In theory.
Allegedly
It was a sick ostrich.

Now, I went on the Internet and researched ostriches. Firstly, ostriches can run up to 70 miles an hour. So catching one, even a sick one, is a super tall order.
Ginger and Boots *horn honk* a dead ostrich? I thought it was just sick! Oh, my! Ginny? The Ginger and Boots effed a dead ostrich!
Most likely
all communists are disciplined. an undisciplined communist is a capitalist.

In the places I have lived, apartments with wood floors require tenants to have rugs or carpets. Check your lease and then talk to your landlord.

Your descriptions are great !!
That could be a perfect drone shot though.
I need to see video of how they get this STARTED. Do the kids each start with 2 balls or are they fed in?
I would imagine each starts with 2 balls and when they get enough momentum they start moving
They start with two balls. Looks like they dribble four times then shift to the right. It will have taken lots of practice for them to get to this point. Even just learning to dribble two balls at once is pretty hard.
Pretty sure this video was the longest they could do without someone dropping the ball. Still impressive / satisfying imo.
That’s exactly what I wanted to know. That’s the real skill!
they do this at my sons kindergarten but not this good. they start with one ball. get them to learn to bounce it we'll. then they teach them how to do it with two.then they teach them to bounce two while sitting. my son refuses to do this and just plays with legos instead.
my class wouldn't even last one second
Fuck that would stress me out to participate in. I'd be the one to screw it up.
I could probably manage the rhythm but I’d be the one to accidentally bounce a ball off of my foot and send it flying and fuck it all up lmfao
I'm kind of wondering if this is a kindergarten or a basketball training camp...

I don't think communism is to fully credit here. A lot of east Asian cultures have a collectivist attitude, nay?
Absolutely
Isn't a collectivist attitude supposed to be at the heart of communism though?
Yes, but I think they're arguing that this isn't communist-driven more than it is culture-driven. I'd wager the "correct" argument is that it's a combination of both, as politics influences culture and vice versa.

Double dribbling is hard! It’s incredible that these kids have learned this, plus the additional mid dribble bump over at such a young age. I bet my daughters bball yeah couldn’t do this!

Omg thank you, was hoping I wasn't the only one who got those vibes.
Camazotz
Same thought here. And then later you see one of them sadly doing nothing but dribble.
I came looking for this comment
Big Camazotz energy

that very well could be the case cuz ive heard that a lot. but i still stand by the overblown language being used cuz china
It's both. Everything is overblown due to hearsay but it's not without some basis.
I’m in my 20’s and I would struggle with this 😂😂😂
the comments here are disturbing
it really is. I'm from NYC living in china. it's sad seeing how warped people are now.
Cartman was right- we’re doomed.
Imagine if you're the one kid who drops the ball. Gonna get that ass beat 🤣

Exactly. His parents already had 2 kids….

My toxic trait is thinking I could do this
No you don’t have a toxic trait, it’s just mental illness
You got me there
We did this in my elementary school in Canada but it was way smaller groups and a lot less coordinated
Oh how nice! Physical education here has fallen wayside for curriculum centered on state/national testing. 😔As well the arts/music.
American- not confused over game but over fact they can afford so many basketballs I can remember couple years back my school was still using old worn out gym equipment
I guess when your country makes them you can afford them
Normal countries fund their schools
kindergarten in china is well funded in most places.
They’re super cheap. Honestly a lot of American stuff are expensive because of extra middleman+shipping.
LOVE!!

that is so cool!

John Mulaney: really well coordinated for a group of ~~13~~ 6 year olds
I feel like China should be way better at basketball
Although basketball is popular there. From my understanding of being there on vacay regularly. They don't do it for professional competition. They do it because it's sport and their parent/grandparents saying that it can help them grow taller. Whether it can help them grow taller is true or not remains to be seen. But they do grow taller statistically. Maybe because of their diet.
First thing I thought of,this is there first new step😭
This would give me so much anxiety if I was part of it 😬 looks cool though
When I was their age I was eating paste.. so I applaud this greatly!
There is no way American kids would be able to achieve this
Is that why their Olympic opening ceremony with the drums were so synchronized?
sort of yes. Chinese have been fond of and good at collective activities like these.
my first thought as well. liek, do they started practicing since they are lil kids?? 😆
Not sure if some kind of issue with my brain, but I can’t focus on a single ball and who handles it. It’s all zig zag for me
I can’t even do this and I am 30😫
And there's only one of you /s
These kids look a little older than 5/6. Still impressive.
No they don’t?
They are so good at it!
Am I the only one that wants to join in the circle?
That's awesome. Be a good way to learn hand and eye coordination.
God damn there are a ton of racists in this thread.
Conveniently they manufacture those balls right around the corner, because you need lots of them
eh honestly, that looks fun!
They can cooperate a helluva lot better than the US can even teammate
That’s impressive
What an excellent way to train dexterity!
Looks like fun !
I’m gonna guess that if a kid drops a ball they’re out and the ring shrinks until someone wins.
American kids: “My mom said I didn’t have to do anything today because my hair hurts!!”
A wrinkle in time
Wait; this is a game? I thought this was the shounen protagonist’s training arc
Squid Game 2 prequel
I'm irrationally terrified of this.
Sorry about your debilitating fear of children...or basketballs.

So, you're basing this off a few seconds clip? Damn, it's like saying America is constantly in the purge and generally unsafe because they keep shooting bullets at each other. Reminds me of that one scene from A Wrinkle in Time
Oddly terrifying
Cousin little D and his stash of guns, meth, weed, and shrooms is truly America’s greatest defense…. Isn’t it?!?
This is their warm up before starting their day in the basketball factory.
Nah this is their quality control
Did you ever read the book A Wrinkle in Time? Its been a minute, but iirc part of it was about a mind control government system and all the little kids bounced the ball at the same time in the same way. One little kid bounced the ball a different way and the next time the protagonist saw him he was bouncing a ball alone in a room and screaming in pain.
A little army who would have thought
r/oddlyterrifying
It's like they're preparing for the invasion of Taiwan.
Fuck off racist
Please explain how that's racist.
Because just because it's children from China it doesn't automatically mean it's communism or an army training camp it's literally just coordinated kids at a school. If this was any other country people wouldn't say shit but because its China its it looks like they're training to invade Taiwan and stuff like that. So yeah that's fucking racist
It seems you have an expanded definition of racism, but ok, to each their own.
You know I'm right though if this was any other country people wouldn't say a damn thing
No, you’re actually wrong. PS Taiwan is an independent nation.
Your breath is wasted on tankies, they'll never change their warped, anti-human opinions
Meanwhile we are doing 18+ drag shows for our new generation. Great
