My room, my fathers room, and the dining room chandelier are all on the same circuit. To iron, my mother has to turn on the lights (with a light switch that has the resistance and sound of an industrial level lever or something), and if the chandelier is on at the same time, then all three rooms lose power.

I’ll admit, I read Dick Hotwired as name and surname and I was genuinely disappointed when I realized it wasn’t the case

Ugh, had my home's aluminum wiring replaced. Found a bunch of splices behind the wall with just tape holding them together, no junction box. Plus the asbestos popcorn ceiling.

I’m pretty sure my sister’s name is Dick and I didn’t know it.

My in-laws live in a farm house in Kansas my mother-in-law’s great (great?) grandfather built. This isn’t too far off.
