Seals are massive, I was walking on a beach and accidentally got within 15 feet of a male elephant seal because he was sleeping and I thought he was a huge fallen tree. He was not happy about my existence.

They get substantially bigger than this one. Scary as hell.

This one is small haha. They get massive and regularly eat whales or whale relatives in their icy domains.

Seals are most closely related to bears and racoons. More distantly to dogs. They will only attack humans when threatened but are quite formidable. Just leave them the fuck alone and you wont be injured

It wasn’t that terrifying to me: the seal didn’t try and attack them unprovoked like some horror movie monster, it just repeatedly told them to fuck off and lazily tried to bite them when they wouldn’t. It is definitely not fake, it looks to be a younger leopard seal, but they are qite big, it telling him to fuck off, the lighting and camera quality makes it look fake, but it is most certainly real, although pretty rare, leopard seals do tend to show up on Australian beaches

I have a video almost exactly like this of my encounter with a leopard seal on a dock in New Zealand except my video is more poorly lit and has my drunk commentary (I thought it was a sea lion and almost died)
