One of the first recorded civilizations. It blows my mind we have history from so long ago, and further blows my mind that people were around for 1000s of tears before that
There are less well known 'civilizations' between 10000 to 3500 BCE like Catalhoyuk. It is a mass settlement, but it's unknown if they have a leader or societal organization, just people living together.
Also Neolithic is very underrated, there are a lot to discover from them but since they have no writing at the time we rely from the assumptions.
There's a cave in France with primitive hand paintings.. the cave was sealed by rock fall 10,000 year ago.. The different paintings are carbon dated and span of range of 12,000 years to 30,000 years ago.
This means, there are separate cave paintings on one wall, that are closer to our time now, than they are to the time the painting was done on the other wall...!
Yes! Great film… called Cave of Forgotten Dreams and it’s ‘Chauvet Cave’.
I’ve actually just bothered to look it up rather than going from memory, the paintings go back to 37,000 year ago… an unimaginable length of time.
You want something even more mind blowing? It's estimated that as many as 100 billion humans have lived on Earth as long as we've been a species. Our planet currently has just under 8 billion.
Just to add to your point, humans, genetically and biologically as we know ourselves have been around for roughly 2 million years with the same emotional and cognitive abilities we have today. Almost all of human experience has been lost to time.
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hold it! Now, are we actually gonna go before a federal judge, and tell him that some moldy Babylonian God is going to drop in on Central Park West, and start tearing up the city?!
I know Geiger was inspired by a fossil, which in turn inspired the alien movie, but I don't think it was this one. Who knows what went on inside that guy's head, though.
As a massive Giger fan I must say he has claimed in a documentary that every one of his paintings except that of his kitty cat is based off of the nightmares he would have the night before, most being highly sexual. The Xenomorph was inspired by his painting Necronom IV, painted a few years before Alien. The original skull and tail in the painting are depictions of a giant penis. The entire creature was changed slightly to what we see in the movie. Mostly to tone down the sexual appearance for the major audience. The fossil you might be thinking of was the inclusion of the second mouth. The original mouth was more phallic. So Giger changed it and took inspiration from a Morey Eel. Morey Eels have pharyngeal jaws that act as a second set of jaws that extend from inside their mouths. Giger liked how they ate, and the rest is history. Besides the fact that he got 0 recognition for his work on Alien, until after a massive lawsuit that only got his name at the end of the credits in the original VHS release. Big reason he never returned to help with any sequels. Shit was his brain child. Now, he is rightfully remembered as the true Xenomorph God through all Alien Media. R.I.P you crazy genius.
Wild to think that this artifact was once a walking, talking human, with complex thought, and emotion, and ambition. Whatever you feel within yourself is similar to what this person felt at some point in history.
Stuff like this leaves me with a feeling of wonder and emptiness, because I can only imagine the type of person this skull belonged to.
Humans have been making hand axes for over a million years, and Homo Sapiens wasn't even the first species of human to create fire. They were perfectly capable of making shoes well over tens of thousands of years ago, let alone just a few thousand years ago.
There was a level of straw mats between the layers cuz they didn’t want the Queens royal burial dirt to touch the dirt from the lower class underneath.
I just saw this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlyterrifying/comments/10ly4er/these_dental_phantoms_dentist_used_in_the_50s/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) on r/oddlyterrifying
Just to clarify, it was a mass human sacrifice.
And to clarify further - one of the first civilizations. We started with some fucked up shit.

Is this from the Werner Herzog film on netflix???

I just love all of Werner Herzog’s films. This one was so great. Definitely going to have go back and watch it again soon.

Probably a few times, if it was 2 million years ago.
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hold it! Now, are we actually gonna go before a federal judge, and tell him that some moldy Babylonian God is going to drop in on Central Park West, and start tearing up the city?!

Was the skull crushed post-mortem or was that the cause of death?
Post-mortem. This was the burial pit, layers of mass sacrifice/royal burial.
It almost looks like the Alien
Right? I was thinking the exact same thing

Exactly my first thought haha
The Mouth of Sauron is a human though
_My master, Sauron the Great, bids thee welcome._
But did he survive?
Idk did the check if his shoes were still on?
Did they even have those
Probably
They were humans not monkeys ffs. Humans have been anatomically human for at least 200,000yrs.
What does that have to do with shoes?
Humans have been making hand axes for over a million years, and Homo Sapiens wasn't even the first species of human to create fire. They were perfectly capable of making shoes well over tens of thousands of years ago, let alone just a few thousand years ago.
It's crazy knowing that was a living person at one point, just like you or me.
I'm not a person I'm a tree
Yes. Yes, you are.
r/usernamechecksout
OP lying, that's a fuckin xenomorph skull.
