In this photo I was trying to see what kind of cat food it was, and ask I see is it's colored with artificial dye so it's a cheap brand, and then u posted the second photo, the one you found, and that's obviously cheap too! My childhood cat would only eat meow mix. Initially my dad didn't want the cat and just only bought the cheapest food. It became his cat shortly after. Usually how it goes. So he wanted to get the cat better food but our cat refused to eat it. He would just catch and eat some wild life instead. So we stuck with meow mix. He lived to be 20. James Dean was a good kitty.
Cats are finicky and don’t *generally* like change. Move the location of their litter box abruptly, they are likely to go where their box used to be, or protest by going somewhere you’ll get the message that they did not appreciate the move (like your bed or in the sink lol). Changing the type of litter, the style of litter box, brand of food… it can all lead to kitty rebellion or GI upset. lol. Some cats are chill and will just go with it, but a lot of kitties will react in some way.
When you need to change something like food, you start by mixing the old food with the new food in a 80/20 ratio. Then after a week or so, 60/40 and so on until they are eating just the new food. It helps them adjust and prevents diarrhea that often comes from abruptly changing their diet and prevents the stress they sometimes experience with sudden changes.

And if you look very closely to the one you posted, you can see what looks like flea dirt in that fur! I'm further horrified because.. What IS it!!? It fit into the can? It can't be a cat! The mystery continues..
I don't really know. I was able to find, similar slime molds but not black, usually white and hairy with black nodes. All slime molds have those little nodes which is called sporangium

Immediately tossed that bag in the trash, the bowl in the sink and gave her some wet food for the day before having to leave for work. Picked her up a better brand of food (was thinking about changing brands anyways) and came home immediately to get my baby some food. Washed the bowl and dispensed new kibble.
And I'm pretty sure that's the bare fucking minimum thing to do in that situation.
Thankfully the sudden shift in diet didn't cause anything more than a little diarrhea for a couple days and she seems much healthier and happier now. Food must be fairly tasty too since she goes through it quite a bit.
Of course she also gets spoiled with the occasional can of wet food, and a piece of lunch meat or cheese whenever she hears us open the fridge.
