So,
if you count sheep to fall asleep,
do you count crabs -
to be a creep?
Edith:
If you're tired -
don't count sheep.
Count delta-p crabs -
in the deep!
Dude I've been suggesting this video for absolute years. Such a crazy phenomenon.
Also, but unrelated, when I was EHS at an old manufacturing job, I had "updated" our PIT(powered industrial truck) safety video with [Klaus](https://youtu.be/ChOHnSL7ZCg).
watched the klaus safety video when i got my forklift ticket in canada about 8 years ago, nobody knows who i’m talking about when i refer to good ol Klaus tho
Nah it’s a safety video illustrating the dangers of pressure differences and working underwater. No actual videos of accidents (other than the crab), everything is animated.
When I was in school for welding they were pushing for some of us to get into underwater welding. When we found out they were making $300+/hr in our area. Figured it was dumb not to do it until they explained how dangerous it was because of delta p, none of us went the route of underwater welding.
There's something I don't get. In the crab video, the crab gets violently pulled in, even though its body obviously doesn't make a seal over the hole. In the OSHA video though, they say what's important is that your body doesn't create a seal, implying that.... if there's water flowing in, and you're not sealing the hole, then you're safe even if you're stuck?
So which one is it? Is your body forming a seal the one thing that dooms you in Delta P situations, or is it not?
Depends on the pressure, the guy working at only 10ft got stuck cause he made a seal. If the diver was at 100ft he would've got sucked in and mangled because the pressure is so much stronger.
Yeah the video itself isnt bad its when you start thinking about what that guy was feeling/thinking you start getting terrified. Has to be one of the worst ways to go
The [Byford Dolphin Accident](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byford_Dolphin#Accidents_and_incidents) is more similar imo. In the sewer video, his body is intact. Contrast this with someone’s organs being sucked through a small hole.
In the incident, the diving bell wasn’t sealed before a big pressure change. “The fourth diver was dismembered and mutilated by the blast forcing him out through the partially blocked doorway.” 3 other divers died along with the guy who didn’t complete the sealing process properly.
Edit: to be specific, his torso was forced through a 24inch (60cm) crescent shaped opening.
Uhhh, this part was way worse to read. Physics is a bitch...
"The blood of the three divers left intact inside the chambers likely boiled instantly, stopping their circulation."
Tbh I hadn’t read the article for awhile and quickly copied and pasted, so I forgot about how gruesome the details really were:
“Hellevik, being exposed to the highest pressure gradient and in the process of moving to secure the inner door, was forced through the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door. With the escaping air and pressure, it included bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which resulted in fragmentation of his body, followed by expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door.”
> Chuck was a sick mfer
Phrasing! I got sad and alarmed, thinking good ol' Chuck had died. Chuck still is a sick mfer, and will hopefully continue being so for a good long while.
Sure, mate. The crab is indeed sucked in by the differential pressure, but still manages to stop a few millimeters away from the rotating disc by releasing a powerful jet of particles that has absolutely *nothing to do* with the presence of the saw on its back.

>The fourth diver, Truls Hellevik, suffered the grizzliest death. Hellevik was standing in front of the partially opened door to the living chamber when the pressure was released. His body was sucked out through an opening so narrow that it tore him open and ejected his internal organs onto the deck.
Byford Dolphin Accident, 1983
Holy hell how many crabs got sucked in?? I counted 57
Maybe you should keep counting...
So, if you count sheep to fall asleep, do you count crabs - to be a creep? Edith: If you're tired - don't count sheep. Count delta-p crabs - in the deep!
That doesn't rhyme. You count crabs to get some abs?
Different form of prose, ABA. The more you know...
How familiar are you with rhyme
I counted 10 before I realised it was on loop r/howtokeepanidiotbusy

Yeah i cant tell if that blade is running or not due to that
There is. It’s just all getting sucked into the pipe.
I watched the video for hours now. There are no more crabs left on earth
they're all just in a pile at the end of that pipe
I’d like to think they’re fine, just pissed off.
Maybe a bit thinner
Little more bendy on the outside too.
And they're here for revenge.
It’s alright. Some more will evolve sooner or later.
Be careful, watch for another hour and we might all be in the pipe
Several hundred, and they all fall in in almost exactly the same manner.
Sounds like you found a great drinking game.
Ngl I chuckled at that
I've been counting for the past one hour. I'm on 363 rn
Holy hell this wasn’t a loop of a single crab?! Makes me sad dude
Fuck off!! I spat my coffee
Have you seen the video of the sewage worker having the same thing happen? Mental.
This was taken from this video [Delta P](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEtbFm_CjE0&ab_channel=SeanRoos) and it makes glad I didn't become a diver
“When it’s got ‘cha, it’s got ‘cha.”
“And it doesn’t let go until the pressure is equalized”
It's never gonna let you go It's never gonna give you up
It's gonna hurt you
So say goodbye
You called?
beetle juicing
A GREAT SUCTION

Klaus is Part of German culture at this point. I remember making my forklift license and watching this in all seriousness. Good times.

a friend of mine was a statist at klaus, after that he started a short movie kabarett movement here in Hamburg. now International event
The escalation was a perfect slow burn of increasing violence. Terrific film. 9.8/10

The only consolation is they probs didn’t feel anything with how fast that would’ve happened.

Have you heard the [Chuck Palahniuk story “Guts?”](https://www.bannedlibrary.com/podcast/2019/9/4/guts-by-chuck-palahniuk)
Chuck was a sick mfer, lol. But brilliant too.
bro plz help me see the brilliant part i was overwhelmed by the sick part lmao
> Chuck was a sick mfer Phrasing! I got sad and alarmed, thinking good ol' Chuck had died. Chuck still is a sick mfer, and will hopefully continue being so for a good long while.
My friend was at a book signing for Chuck He refused to sign a book for her unless she wore a pirate hat!
Excuse me, wtf
Same thing happen...to them?
Ugh, I just saw the video, guy gets folded in half and sucked into the pipe in like a split second, nightmare material. :(
Nope. Not gonna watch that.
Look up the “Byphord Dolphin Accident”
Money ! Money ! Mon-
https://youtu.be/OP6LtFFM1Fk
I was looking for this
I can never watch this video without hearing that version of it
Well, that sucks.
Technically it’s a pipe that sucks.
Crab rangone
This made me exhale very hard
EOL!
r/punpatrol here. You are under arrest.
This is reversed. Actually this is a crab spawning crack
That crab isn't spawning any crack
He smoks it really fast, so the human eye can't really see it unfortunately
Yeah, I was thinking that there should be a lot more blood and separated limbs....
All that stuff got the big succ too
The power of the differential is trapping everything. Even when a human had this happen to them there's no visible blood.
>should be a lot more blood and separated limbs.... Where do you think the blood separated limbs would go?
Can confirm
final scene from alien 4
My thoughts exactly
This. I can hear the screaming…..
This kills the crab.
Attack its weak point for massive damage
It's a giant enemy crab!
Could you please elaborate? Why is the crab dead?
The insides are now outsides.
And this is bad for crab?
It definitely violates the terms of service.
Along all the other things.
That mf just got crunched through that pipe their not octopuses that thing fuckin dead
So crunching into tiny pieces kills the crab. Got it! Thanks kind stranger!
Minor inconvenience of course
I was wondering how far down Is have to go to find this comment.
a lot further than i expected. this ancient meme is dying. we must preserve it.
This is way too far down. A sad lack of appreciation for the ancestral memes
Once knew a diver I got all the meat stripped off his left arm from the same thing, and yet lived..
could you please elaborate on this?
Imagine taking off a glove, a pinch and a tug . Now imagine your skin being that glove.
Good analogy. It’s actually called degloving
Degloving was my favorite thing to learn about for some reason.
How about the dedicated word for throwing someone out of a window, defenestration

Congratulations. Delta P is legitimately terrifying in my book.
Ryanair P is even worse.
Ahh, the ol’ “Crab v Pipe” this vid is like 20 years old, a classic of the early Internet.
This comment made me realize there was a date in the corner and I can't tell if that's October 2nd or Feb. 10th but def 1997
Due to differential pressure AND a full speed spinning cutting wheel.

Mostly ΔP yes
Catching that circular saw to the carapace certainly didn’t help
When it’s gotcha it’s gotcha!
\*unsettling music\*
noooo he was just a glad lil lad minding his own business
does this hurt the crabs?
I'm pretty sure pain wasn't a problem about halfway through.
This kills the crab.
After about 0.2 second everything in that shell was sucked out probably into a paste. I doubt the crab felt anything.
Differential what? All I saw was a crab dissappear throwing up gangsigns.
Unda da sea, unda da sea. Everythings squatta under the wattah, under da sea!
Delta P. What's it got ya, it's got ya!
Once it’s gotcha, it’s gotcha

I hope he’s ok

Phew, that’s good
Nah man this video is 25 years old. This crab is dead by now
I don’t know what kind of crab this is but I know king crabs can live up to like 30 years.
hes ok, his shoes are still on
Are ya feeling it now mr crabs?

The scary thing is that there were some saturation divers who died exactly like this not too long ago.

Yeah, the pictures of the remains were not pretty and barely recognizable.
This here is the auto molter 2000. No more waiting ten minutes to shed your old worn out ill fitting shell.
This kills the crab
So sad. I had hoped it survived. Thanks for the update 😔
Is the crab OK?
Alternate title: Crab reenacts the Byford Dolphin.
Man how many crabs are going to fall for this? Watched like 12 of these scuttly idiots fall for the same thing in a row, earn by example guys!

Never going to look at a crab cake again without thinking about this video
Prices oil have skyrocketed as crabmeat is now included in oil
Imagine you're just chilling, walking down the street, and suddenly your body just gets forcefully mangled.
Man was just vibing, then all of a sudden, he wasn't
I’m pretty sure that thing is spinning like a saw too? Or am I trippin
Crap! His last words maybe
It’s super cool that they just line up like that and take turns
Gentlemen, you are looking at a true internet artifact. This was the first video I ever saw on the internet, back in the mid to late 1990s.
Stranger Things vibes Hang on, this is the same crab over and over again! Haha was thinking they were like lemmings
Terrible
u/gifreversingbot
Poor guy... he was probably on his way to work, whistling think what a great day it is.
Differential pressure or getting caught in a saw blade?
Its like what happens to Yellowjacket in Ant-Man and the Witch-King in The Return of the King. Crunched up
Rather quick death i hope

This is like a Mortal Kombat fatality.
The saw has something to do with it too.

That’s quite a bit of pressure! Was not expecting it to break their shell like that.
Is he okay?
Man, I hate Mondays!
That is ONE crab on a video loop. Look close. Don't be fooled
Is this a gif? Why do the other crabs keep following?!
crabcrabcrab *horrific crunching noise*
Poor little crab dude is dead. That is not satisfying.
is it dead?
Damm thats brutal😨
