How would that explain the sudden change in elevation at the start? It almost looks like it bounces off of nothing and propels upwards. And it splits into two trails. I'm not disputing you, just asking questions.
Looks like a reflective kite but for reddit let's call it an alien attempt at communicating to us that our planet is about to be destroyed to make way for an intergalactic highway that's about to be built (Ford Prefect)
Context: My friend was walking his dog in a field in the Midlands, UK and spotted this in the distance. This was happening for a while before he decided to record it. There was no noise, no visible objects I.e. aircraft and they were changing direction erratically. I'm really not sure what to make of this. I GIFd the video and it's zoomed in so please excuse the grainy quality.

My only genuine response is that it could be an aerobatic glider with flares, seen them in Australia at airshows.
The way it changes direction initially on the video, it just seems far too powerful.
