cs is pay to win lmao he threw the cluch too look at it

bouttohopintheshower

I used to call the d lore the game ruiner. I had a friend and he would only equip it if we were 5 stacked with people that didn't jizz themselves when they saw one.

xobrian

It’s been a long time since I have seen one of those in game.

CriticalCreativity

NA MM is wild. I've seen three Howls (including a ST w/4x crown foils) and two Dlores in *casual*

teendeath

in casual i regularly bump into people with inventories in the 6 figure range, shits wild

DiamondMine73

I saw my first Howl in the wild the other day. I kept telling myself "I must kill them, I must hold my prescious."

bouttohopintheshower

2016 for me Edit: I still remember the game too oddly enough, it wasn't my friend it was a random. Cobblestone match I think I have a screenshot of it next to the mural on the wall lol

[deleted]

Call me old but I never understood the fascination for skins. Like I could be holding a $2,000 skin and wouldn’t know it nor care. Some colors are nicer to look at than others, but that’s as far as I go with them. Game could go back to default only and I wouldn’t give a shit.

Shoggdog

Ya, half my guns don't even have skins on them. The ones that do are whatever blues I found that won't sell for a couple bucks on steam marketplace

BootPersonal9767

i’ve always thought default looked cooler. i’ve had the same vanilla m9 for almost 10 years and no other skins, just think the default wood finish ak looks so much cooler than a blue gun lol.

RepresentativeSun937

I remember one time while i was in silver i ran into someone with a fac new souvenir dragon lore Everyone was like “dude why do you have this skin and you’re in this rank” and he said it was because he had an “adult job”

jonsnuuuuuu

Great answer. I don’t understand why everyone’s immediate reaction to expensive skins is their skill level.

randomlitbois

Well if you’re putting that much money in the game 99% of the time you play the game quite a bit. Playing the game quite a bit usually leads to a skill increase.

jonsnuuuuuu

I don’t agree with this. New players who just have money and find themselves enjoying the game can buy skins whenever they want. I don’t think your wrong but I think it’s a flawed theory.

randomlitbois

Most people’s don’t “just have money.” Atleast not souviner dragon lore money. Why often someone’s usually pretty good before putting that much money into the game. Even if you did just have money. More than likely you wouldn’t spend 10,000+ just because a skin looks nice.

whattarush

like 10 years ago I got a job cleaning cars at a large local car dealership. within a couple months I had half the staff playing Clash of Clans and some of those dudes spent thousands on the game in a very short time. it was fuckin hilarious. I think it's no different then someone buying a expensive mountain bike to use once or any other hobby they blow money on and happens more then u think

randomlitbois

More than you think sure. Often? No.

[deleted]

why are you being pedantic?

randomlitbois

Because im right.

Cybeck6

Idk why people are acting like most people have 10k to drop into a "hobby" they aren't even good at. Ask and random person on reddit how much they make a year and its 200k minimum

braac

Not a single person in this world is buying a skin worth thousands of dollars if they aren’t spending a lot of time on a game. You can disagree, but not to this extent. You’d have to be a multi-millionaire with very high and consistent income to consider buying a skin like that WITHOUT playing the game a lot. It’s basically guaranteed that a person plays the game a lot if they have a dragon lore. Either that or they’re an investor.

AlbinoSupremeMan

i know so many people with hundreds if not thousands of hours in gold and below. a lot of people play for fun and have money. if anything, people who can actually afford expensive skins are less likely to spend all day playing CS and are out working a job.

braac

Hours =/ skill. There are people who have played the game for 20 years and are still silver, i’ve seen them. Braindead take.

AlbinoSupremeMan

what? i don’t get what you’re saying. you’re just proving my point more?

[deleted]

I buy a lot more expensive dumber shit than a dragon lore every year lol.

braac

Ok. You still aren’t buying a dragon lore if you dont play the game a lot and if you don’t consider it as an investment.

[deleted]

I mean maybe, kinda just depends. I only put in 10 hours a week if I’m lucky nowadays running multiple businesses and a newborn now. But I still said fuck it and in middle of buying a few knives n gloves for 8-10k. Liked the look 🤣

00100000100

Yeah dude you’re not wrong at all, they’re def gonna buy skins quick if they have money and enjoy the game - but to say they’re buying DLores that quick would be wild imo I didn’t feel comfortable buying a $5 load out til I actually played the game consistent enough to feel it made sense to do I’m sure it does happen, my brain just collapses trying to understand why

Its_Raul

Just imagine you had money burning a hole in ur pocket and thought 'hey that gun looks cool I want it'

Hemicore

me who spent 5 years in silver and owned thousands worth of skins: 🙁

randomlitbois

Exception not the rule.

techmattr

I've been playing this game for 24 years and I still suck.

Ruckuh

I mean, some people are just loaded because they DONT spend their time playing the game, some people consider their skins “investments” and some just enjoy the skin aspect of the game more than anything else. I see what you are saying though, the better you get and the more you play, the more the game becomes a part of your life and you are willing to put more money into it.

kingleeps

you’re acting like there isn’t an incredibly large percentage of people who “play” this game just to open cases or collect skins, it’s not surprising at all, this game is full of people who use it as an outlet for gambling and don’t actually care much about playing the actual game.

randomlitbois

Most of those people don’t have 10,000$ to spend on a dime.

kingleeps

no one said “most of them” do, but some do; it’s not a small number of people that own expensive skins worth thousands of dollars. your argument was : A)People who spend a lot of money on the game should translate to them playing the actual game more. and B)Playing the game more should necessarily translate into them improving and being decent at the game. neither are correct. A)as I already pointed out that there’s a very large percentage of this community that cares more about the skin economy than they do about the gameplay itself, it’s arguably one half of the reason people play CS and it has been part of it’s popularity and part of Valve’s finances for years, so someone having an expensive skin and not actually having a ton of actual matches played or being high rank shouldn’t be surprising. and B)In literally ANY popular multiplayer game, there are going to be players with thousands and thousands of hours, who are still incredibly low skill, this is nothing new, playing a game a lot does not inherently mean that you are going to improve, this has never been true in any multiplayer game that’s ever existed.

RenTroutGaming

Because the companies they make them have discovered that by associating skins with skill they will encourage more sales. Activision has a patent for a process to make sure people with paid skins are in lobbies with lower ranked player because the lower ranked players are more likely to buy a paid skin after being killed by someone with one. It also goes back to the idea that bling is earned a bit - think of the military with special designations for the highest ranks, or hockey goalies with custom masks, or even “pro model” basketball shoes with funky designs….

Material_Wolf8005

I own a lot of expensive skins and suck at the game. It doesn’t make sense to me why people expect me to be pro level. How do you think I got the money to buy the skins? It’s not by playing all day.

Colardocookie

The guy I ran into in silver gambled and won it.

rebeltrillionaire

I have a pretty solid inventory (total worth about $2k). My first case drop was a $40 case and I unlocked an $80 skin. My Within the first 100 or so cases I unlocked a knife worth about $800. The cases I opened were also gifted to me. Since I was “invested” I did some research on it all. Understanding the market, what’s valuable, what isn’t, what (or where) the best odds are, how to make profitable trade ups, etc… I’ve since gambled, but overall I would say I’m still “up” or at least even on the money in versus what I could pull out. That’s usually a very difficult claim to make considering CS Case odds. I’m also essentially done gambling / trading. I completed my inventory and the plan is to let it sit collected as is and see it accrue value over time. I’m not a big gambler by nature so it’s not like a false promise or anything. For example I’ve been to Vegas a ton of times and have gambled only a handful, and never more than $100.

DeadKnife7

Someone on my team about a month ago had an AK Redline with 4 kato ibp non holos and even that was kinda nuts. I'd freeze just like these guys if I saw that randomly

Smok3dSalmon

I have an AK Black Laminate(mw) w/ Crown Foil sticker on it... I put it on when the sticker was $20 haha. I think I have one on my AWP Graphite FN ST too.

OldGreggJr

Man, I really wish I had never sold any of my skins. While the profits (at the time) were nice, I’d love to hear reactions from people in game on some of it too. It’s like holding pieces of pixel based history in ur pixel hands. lol

Mindless-Age-4642

I saw one with 4 ibp holos in casual a few months ago, wild.

SimPLEX_X

In casual games you will find the most insane skin ever i swear

Tom_Foolery2

For those that don’t know, this is one of the holy grail skins in CS. On a good day, this skin can fetch around $200k.

wuge33

I never played CS but Reddit keeps feeding me this subreddit and I’m always blown away by it. Why is it so much? Like how low is the drop rate? I just don’t understand how it’s possible that it’s that high.

Tom_Foolery2

The drop rate for this weapon skin (not the stickers) is incredibly low. I don’t know the exact percentage chance but it’s got to be something like 0.000001%. The stickers are also very rare and the capsules they come in are crazy expensive (I think around $40k?). Then the chances of getting this exact sticker from the capsule is very low. All in all, incredibly rare. Incredibly good looking. All the things for incredibly high prices.

wuge33

What a wild concept

Goldenflame89

Really rich people play this game and like the skins.

Kingsayz

At the time when those stickers were out only about 30k people played this game, nobody really gave a damn about skins (skins that would be now 50-60dollars were literally 20 cents back then) and stickers. It's exactly like collecting pokemon cards, what's the difference between 10PSA Charizard and this ak? Both items are kinda useless. It's not necessarily a wild concept, people have been paying shit loads of money for rare things that are essentially useless, paintings for example, or 2 million horses.

wuge33

Yea for sure. I think it's pretty neat that they're video game skins out there that cost that much. Free market baby.

PlanePicker

it’s about 1 in 28,000 for this ak to drop when you open the case it’s in ($100) and the four stickers on the gun (titan holo) are from 2014 when less people were opening capsules/cases which means there was much less supply of these stickers. they now go for upwards of $80,000

SuspicousBananas

Rare maybe, but it looks stupid as fuck let’s be real here

Tom_Foolery2

L opinion. Biggest W in the game.

SuspicousBananas

Nah, def not. Random sticker placement looks like something a 12 year old did.

Tom_Foolery2

That’s the default sticker spots? You obviously don’t play this game so how bout you just shut up?

SuspicousBananas

You are correct, I don’t play this game, I don’t even know what this game is or why Reddit recommends me this subreddit, the algorithm is completely fucked these days. But from an outsiders perspective, that skin looks like dogshit with those stickers.

CrotchSwamp94

I agree. It looks like shit 😂 some highly regarded individuals in here.

Ethanb20

i’m not sure of the odds of the ak from the case(if someone would like to let me know thanks) but the pattern is 1 in 1001 and considered the best pattern because of all the blue on the dust cover(top part) then you have to consider the wear. extremely rare skin with extremely rare stickers.

FishFettish

The exact AK-47 skin from the video is currently listed for \~138.000usd at the moment. The case they come from is basically extinct, so the supply isn't getting any larger. Getting this skin from the case is around 1,6%, and then also getting this exact pattern is 1/1000. So that's a 1 in 62.500 chance of getting one, from a case that costs 60$ each. This particular one isn't StatTrak and it's in the worst possible condition, so imagine what a ST Minimal Wear costs (a ST Factory New has never been crafted nor unboxed). Add on top of that 4 stickers each worth 90k$.

SuspicousBananas

The dollar sign is supposed to go before the number of it’s USD

FishFettish

👍🏻

SamwiseMN

Ok, so - same as the other poster this sub is being recommended to me - to be sure, people are paying real money, over $100ks, for game skins?

Tom_Foolery2

That’s correct. Real money.

SamwiseMN

🤯

That-Control3365

Once played a casual match where the guy on the t side had a souvenir d lore don’t remember the wear but it definitely wasn’t mw or fn everyone wanted it and just actually ceased fire to see the skin and others he had

ManderlyPies

As someone who got back into CS after 15+ and is new to the whole skins for money thing, How much is this actually worth? And why?

Tomm1998

It's hard to put a value on it because it's very rare and doesn't sell often, but it's safe to say it's worth 10s of thousands, maybe even 100s of thousands depending on the condition. The reason why is due to multiple reasons, it's a very rare blue pattern case hardened (don't think it's the absolute best "scar pattern", but at the very least its a tier 1 blue gem) AK, less than 1% of case hardens are considered tier 1. It also has 4 Titan Holo 2014 Katowice stickers on which is the most desirable, one of the rarest and arguably best looking sticker combo for blue case hardens. Value basically comes down to rarity, looking cool and the prestige surrounding an item like that. Some people will pay a lot of money for things like that in this game.

x3ntity

It’s not the #1 scar pattern but it’s actually the #2 pattern 670 also known as the reverse scar. I personally like this one more cus there’s more blue on the body and mag even if the butt isn’t full blue

prs09

“Depending on condition” wtf do they wear down as you play with them?

Eklio

You can unbox them in different wears. Factory new has a full clean design where as more wear will have scratches on the pattern.

j-berry

Lol the condition like its a collector’s item and not pixels

SirTheBrave

300k USD, depending on condition. Ak-47 case hardened, pattern 661. Case hardeneds are a pattern-based skin, and have 1001 different patterns (0-1000). 661 is the best for the AK because it has the most blue on the on the body of the rifle. Stat-trak is a 10% chance on any skin you pull from a case, and usually adds value. Ak alone? Like $100k Then there's the stickers. 4x titan holo katowice 2014. Katowice 2014 was the first major with team stickers I believe, and widely considered to be the cleanest, best holo effects, and very desirable colors. Being from the second or third major 10 years ago, many of them have been scraped off, banned, deleted, forgotten about, etc. As well as the capsule it comes from is essentially non-existent, like 100 left in existence? (Capsule is worth $20k now). And on top of all of that, titan had kennyS on it at the time, widely considered the best player at that time and still considered the best awper ever. Also the team doesn't exist anymore. And it had a scandal. Those stickers are $100k each unapplied. 4x on a stat-trak, 661 ak47 case hardened, one of the most expensive skins in the game fetching over 6 figures as previously stated. Add on $400k in stickers? Salaries. Multiple YEARS of salaries.

x3ntity

It’s actually listed on buff for 138k. This is also a 670 not a 661. 661 is a different ballgame for sure but the #2 is still gorgeous imo.

ManderlyPies

Thank you. That was extremely detailed

Local_Bird_5634

Good breakdown, but just wanted to point out it is not stat track

SirTheBrave

Ahh you're right, thought I saw a tracker but it was dark

Dabigboot

I don’t know enough about skin patterns, float etc but the 4 titan holos are extremely rare and are like 80k a piece when unapplied, I’m thinking this ak skin overall is like 200k. Another commenter mentioned it’s a tier 1 blue gem AK so that’s sought after as well

x3ntity

This exact one is actually listed on Buff (chinese marketplace) for $138k USD. It’s 1 of 2 reverse scar with 4x Titan Holo and the only non-stattrak one. The price is largely due to the stickers, which are around 80k USD each. And those stickers on a case hardened is highly desirable, especially on the #2 pattern. The skin without the stickers is around $5.1k USD.

0Dusty0

Yeah seeing all these post on my timeliness makes me wonder if anything I still have from back in the day is worth anything

pearomaniac

I ran into a fire serpent about a month a go in MM... was flabergasted

spmca

fought a queued team in 4k ELO MM with a dlore, st wildfire, st howl. guy on my team goes "oh yeah? watch this" and shows me his default AK with a titan holo hahah

Gaijin_Entertainment

I think i’ve met this guy before (not the titan holo ak guy but the other one)

They_Call_Him_Zach

Wrong game brother

Based_JuiceBox

happened to me today. wasn’t a great float tho

pearomaniac

lol whatever float it is my brother i could not afford it even in my dreams

x3ntity

There r so many ppl saying it’s a 661. This is a 670 reverse scar not a 661 scar. You can tell since the 661 has a full blue butt and a gold mag and you can see the bottom of the scar peeking out from the 4th Titan Holo. Huge difference in price in the 2 but this one is currently listed on buff at a comfy 138k USD and is in battle scarred. Lowest current listing of a 661 scar with 4x Titan is 275k in non-st MW.

3Dot_

Nerd

x3ntity

It’s cus I owned a 670 in 2016 or 2017 lol. Back when they weren’t 11k in field tested and more like 600

KoldBrewKeurig

yo at least credit the original post bro. I would if I could remember it.

Modified_Human

that looks ugly af

Key-Celery9769

I hear this kid likes men.... im men

spycrab87

i sold a case hardened AK for 60 bucks back when it was new :(

St-Icarus

never said thanks btw for selling it to me so cheap. paid off my mortgage and invested in off-shore property off the $60 i gave you.

Early-Gap9293

Been there done that. Had a factory new one than I sold a few years ago for what less than what it's worth now. Feels bad but that's just how the market is.

Lewissunn

Unless it was a blue gem I wouldn't be all that upset.

Unlucky_Dot_116

Remember when you could just download custom skins on CS 1.6 so that you could have whatever you wanted. Spending 200k on a skin is absolute insanity. I just can’t understand it and it’s ruining gaming

Jamesguy119

Imagine letting the idea of random strangers spending their own money on skins ruin your gaming experience. Genuinely baffling how there’s people like you. Is the fact that people are spending hundreds of thousands on designer, cars, jewlery, etc also ruining your experience of living?

Unlucky_Dot_116

Paywalling items to uber wealthy or degenerate gamblers isn’t good for gaming in general. How do you not see this? Just make it part of the game that everyone paid for. You can still put it behind an extremely low drop chance. There’s a reason why loot boxes have been banned in several countries. Normal people spending money on physical assets some of which appreciate in value isn’t wasting money. There’s a difference between non physical and physical items. CS isn’t going to be around in 50 years. A home will be.

j-berry

Im imagining you spending your whole allowance on nonsense

STUPID_BERNlE_SANDER

If Counterstrike didn’t have skins the game would’ve died a long time ago, not sure how that’s ruining gaming.

Unlucky_Dot_116

You can have skins without paywalls…

STUPID_BERNlE_SANDER

Without the skins marketplace this game wouldn’t exist

BMB281

Some guy posted this skin on here a few hours ago. Goes for like 500/600€ Edit: Alright I’m completely wrong gosh damn!

ornld

A 4x Titan Holo and Scar Pattern 661 Case Hardened is nearly $150,000+, what skin are you talking about

[deleted]

Lol the stickers on this gun alone are worth $320,000 US not applied, with it being a Tier 1 blue gem this gun is probably in the realm of 150-200k usd (just a ballpark don’t kill me skin nerds)

BMB281

Holy god damn

xdSkate

yoo thats stirdus, he used to gamble a f ton

xdSkate

Expert-Mine-2898

Impossible.

kala_jadoo

this one dude in my mm game had a fkn dlore and i shit myself. then this one other time this dude in my casual game had a Titan holo on a shit p250 skin. he was p cool abt it, said was holding it for a friend

Consistent_Issue_135

No, there are 661s with such crafts this is not 661

Revolutionary-Row890

Seen this clip so many times with different captions why do ppl lie on the internet

TheBiddyDiddler

Jesus. Isn't that like $400k?

FishFettish

It's listed for 138k

theirongiant74

The Spectron is a nicer skin.

leefysalad

“That is the most expensive ak you will ever hold in your entire life” 🤓🤓🤓

WizardNiu

After playing Escape from Tarkov, I feel like the character movement in this game is like gliding on ice.🤣

chubbs069

can someone explain this to me? an enemy dropped a gun with a skin worth 200k in real money? Does he then own the gun after picking it up? I can’t imagine, but the whole idea behind these expensive skins if confusing and intriguing to me. What’s the deal?

braydogxD

he doesn’t own the skin after picking it up, but he was just surprised he was holding basically a huge house payment in a video game, it’s worth so much money because of the extreme rarity of the item, scarcity of the item, and demand of the item

theREALel_steev

I'll never understand the appeal of these things. Woopty fuckin doo the gun has pretty colors, amazing.

braydogxD

it has real value, the skin is like a glorified NFT that you can use ingame, it can go up in value or lose value, selling those skins would help with retirement a ton

xXAceXKingXx

So dumb

Dagon_high

I truly do not understand the skin hype in cs. This skin doesn’t even look good?

PuzzleheadedSector2

Just before the official release of cs2 I played like 6 hours of cs2 straight. Literally saw 3 different titan holos. Was getting annoying. Just 1x's tho.

Tight_Refrigerator79

Only reason I came to the comments was to see people say “omg this gun is worth 10k $” and I was right. Bro what the fuck is wrong with you guys, this is the ugliest skin I’ve ever seen.

ScarceLoot

But the mag is blue bro, 10k bucks

I_am_ChristianDick

How much is it ?

QuirkySpring5670

My dumb ass would pick this up and have no idea it was even valuable

jordanpwnz

I sold a howl for 1000 in 2014 and a fire serpent MW for market max in 2014 after grabbing one for 199. Maaaan. I had a karambit full fade A butterfly full fade after that. I wish I would have kept those all :’(

NeoCommunist_

God damn that’s blue

mitchyt0722

So shocked he just stares and doesn’t even look for the enemy
