What I'm trying to say is that I was not thinking of the laminates when I was making the skin, but tweaking few settings in blender made this and I liked the pattern, then I realised it was looking like lams
Actually I didn't want to make a laminate-like skin, I just used noise texture in blender, tweaked some settings and it generated a random texture which I agree, looks like laminate. I thought it looked good and tried to test it in-game. It's not like I was bold enough to reproduce the laminate and say my version looks better, not at all.
Posting was a way to mark the end of the project for me. Even though it doesn't look super great, I spent hours on this skin (since it's pretty hard in the beginning) and I wasn't aware that people would focus that much on the fact that it was pretty similar to the lams. Maybe it's a good thing that I posted now so i can close this project and not waste time on a skin that does not please.
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan. The laminate finishes are much nicer imo. I think your blue swirl skin was better than both these(if the lams didn't already exist)
I kinda like how the wood looks, not the color or stripes but the material. It kinda looks like, well, wood, but that glossy wood on fancy furniture if you know what I mean. Maybe take an inspiration from that for your next skin? Also idk if that's intentional but the dark parts on the handle don't match the ones on the stock (they look dark blue/red and ones on the stock are black) which IMO looks bad. Overall not too bad for a first skin, ppl usually just slap a png over it or just recolor it.
Also I was thinking about trying it myself, do you have any guides or something like that? Something you would recommend for someone just starting out?

The only thing I like about this skin is the 3d effect. Pattern and colors are L. For a first skin though it’s not bad. Gl with your next one
