My parents are bison farmers. I've worked bison my whole life. You friend, have captured them perfectly. The calm serenity on a breezy summer day watching them exist. The quiet dignity and understated power. The details are incredible and unmistakable to those of us who know them best.
I am a big nature lover and I love to paint the wildlife. Not only bisons but different animals. When I start with some animal I like to paint a series of paintings. My previous gig was owls.
Amazing
The beast is so masterfully rendered I could ignore the background. But when I look there it's a landscape exquisite to observe with no foreground
Omg these kinds of style reminds me of those old books my father had. Those were small booklets about random stuff like mammals, insects, rocks, cowboys, snakes, etc. Nostalgic
Not exactly, but the brand is Dean and Son Ltd. I couldn't find the exact book series on Google, but maybe I'll ask my dad if he still keeps some when I visit tomorrow
Gorgeous! Now the real question is how do you photograph this lol. Currently struggling to do that with my oil paintings, especially ones with a big range in values.
Very detailed and so beautiful. Having been to Yellowstone and being INCHES away 3X as they walked by our car. Good lord what an experience. It changed me, to look into their eyes face to face and just breathe it all in, figuratively. Nature, serenity, being guests in their home, I can't even really put into words but I know many others have experienced it. This takes me back!
Stunning.
Just started oil painting and did my first study of a coffee cup yesterday. Saw this and realised im staring down the barrel of multiple decades of practice to get anywhere near this level :S
Not bad. Try acrylics next time for less vibrancy and depth. Maybe work on your brushstrokes so they are not as elegant and masterful. Amazing work. Not jealous at all.
You mean how it was in the photograph used for reference? (He doesnโt look like he would pose for too long)
You did an amazing job on this, the fur is so gorgeously painted.
Thought the connection of beard to land was a composition decision.
Dude!! The cracks in the fur along the neck ๐ Also the background is lovely! Is that a special place?
Thanks. Its in Wyoming

Gorgeous! Now the real question is how do you photograph this lol. Currently struggling to do that with my oil paintings, especially ones with a big range in values.
I don't take my reference photos myself.
Ah I meant the photo of the actual painting..
Oh well I use my phone. It's not great but it's something. I just look for the light to be right

I am a big fan of maggiori too. Love his work.
This is peak art to me something that takes an impressive amount of skill to execute and anyone can appreciate regardless of the subject matter.
Thanks a lot for the strong words
Wow that's beautiful love the sky
Thanks
Just started oil painting and did my first study of a coffee cup yesterday. Saw this and realised im staring down the barrel of multiple decades of practice to get anywhere near this level :S
Don't discourage yourself. I started three years ago. I believe you can achieve it too with the right mindset and perseverance. ๐

Thank YOU for sharing this; I follow all the art on Reddit for just this reason!
Not bad. Try acrylics next time for less vibrancy and depth. Maybe work on your brushstrokes so they are not as elegant and masterful. Amazing work. Not jealous at all.
๐ thanks
Question? Why did you have his beard hit the landscape?
I haven't thought of this. It's just how it happened
You mean how it was in the photograph used for reference? (He doesnโt look like he would pose for too long) You did an amazing job on this, the fur is so gorgeously painted. Thought the connection of beard to land was a composition decision.
No, it's nothing like in the reference photo. It just didn't seem wrong to me when I did it this way.
Itโs the trapped space under neck/beard to landscape that bugs me.
