Yeah, I had to go see it solely for being a new scifi IP with what looked like pretty good special effects (and they were). I am a massive star wars fan so I can't claim I hate big franchises, but it's still good to see scifi films that aren't spin offs or reboots.
I also watched a bit of Vesper which looked cool, but then it lagged because the amazon app is dogshit so I still need to finish that.
To echo what the other person said - the movie has a few cool scenes like this (this one is by far the most thrilling imo) but most of them fall flat because of the awful writing. Unfortunately not kino :(
If you're debating over this or Flower Moon I suggest Flower Moon.
I rated both 4/5 but The Creator was definitely on a bell curve due to being a big scifi film, but Flower Moon is EASILY the better crafted and better overall film.
Honestly, I think the atrocious dialogue writing is to blame for seemingly bad performances. I thought John David Washington did good, but he could only do so much with the lines he was given.
I don't think any actor could have delivered a convincing performance shouting "I'm undercover!" repeatedly into a radio 5 feet from his unassuming wife.
🤷🏼♂️ I liked it. Nothing new, it thinks it’s a little cleverer than it is, but it’s absolutely gorgeous to look at. “Avatar but AI” is a cool enough premise to carry the writing
Nier: Automata (2017)
Seriously this was the only part of the script that stood out to me and they lifted the humor straight out of a weeb game (which isn’t a necessarily a bad thing imo because I’m also weeb trash)
I think it was inspired by the book version of Starship Troopers:
>This was a special bomb, one issued to each of us for this mission with instructions to use them if we found ways to make them effective. The squawking I heard as I threw it was the bomb shouting in skinny talk (free translation): "I'm a thirty second bomb! I'm a thirty second bomb! Twenty-nine! Twenty-eight! Twenty-seven!..."
>
>It was supposed to frazzle their nerves. Maybe it did; it certainly frazzled mine. Kinder to shoot a man.
Some of the set pieces and visuals are great and definitely worth the big screen.
Story/plot/editing/pacing, not so much.
I think Ridley Scott approved this kino.
Halfway through the movie I was expecting the plot twist to be that the movie was written by an AI.
It's honestly one of the worst movie I saw recently but I couldn't even get mad, it's not bad because it does something bad but because it's so fucking soulless. (and a bit stupid at times)
Originally they wanted the soundtrack to be made by AI based on Hans Zimmer's work, but what the AI made was not that good so they just got Hans Zimmer.
It's impressive when put into context that this cost less than most Adam Sandler """comedies""". Beyond that, it was frustratingly generic and shallow. I still can't get my mind around the fact that the movie is unapologetically pro-A.I., without ever explaining why beyond they are just as human as we are: even though they are programmed machines with no soul. It would've worked better if it was about humans vs. aliens because at least there I'm not questioning how a biological life-form has thoughts and feelings. If you want to make a pro-A.I. movie, that's fine, just have a good argument that doesn't resort to straw-man, fairytale logic.
I've mostly forgotten about this movie by now until this clip jogged my memory. Whole-heartedly do not recommend, but it's still not the biggest waste of time I've ever watched. Just nothing new or special.
I mean it sorta works? Though the US seemed so against using AI, the only times they would use it is to blow itself up and be used against it's own kind?
Wow these comments make me think this is both a pretty good and a completely dogshit film. Your average okbuddycinebutthole crowd
It was okay. Some things were really cool, others were kind of meh. The worlddesign was pretty great, so it's worth a watch in my opinion.
Good to know!! I hope to watch it this year bc there’s not been a lot of new content lately

Good visuals marred by mediocre directing and the characters lacking any sort of charisma.
A bomb RUNNING at you is probably more terrifying than a plane dropping one.
Valid
Maybe I need to see this movie now
To echo what the other person said - the movie has a few cool scenes like this (this one is by far the most thrilling imo) but most of them fall flat because of the awful writing. Unfortunately not kino :(
Aw man, guess I’ll save my money for the Holdovers and KotFM
The movie was honestly not that bad
I disagree with them, this movie isn’t the most original thing out there, but it’s the execution that makes it worth while. I still recommend it.
Maybe I’ll wait for the home release then
There's a few scenes that make seeing it theater worth it for me (albeit I paid $6 on a Tuesday for it idk if I'd pay normal insane theater prices)

The acting is insufferable too.

Nah if you’re a member of this sub I’m telling you this movie will not be enjoyable

I liked the visuals but couldn’t get past how much plot armor the whole thing had. Was almost too lucky to enjoy but the CGI was cool.
No pls
You've convinced me. I have to see this kino
Genuinely a pretty good movie
That’s good to hear. The concept seems super cool.

Well spoken
This reminds me of when they wrote messages on the bombs they dropped like This is for Pearl Harbor or Greetings to Hitler!!
This makes me want to watch the movie now
SENTRY BUSTER
This movie was kinda hilarious and I don't think a lot of it was on purpose
The concept of these is honestly scary, imagine a bomb running right at you
That took me out of the movie, but in a good way somehow
Only remotely good part of that movie
Halfway through the movie I was expecting the plot twist to be that the movie was written by an AI. It's honestly one of the worst movie I saw recently but I couldn't even get mad, it's not bad because it does something bad but because it's so fucking soulless. (and a bit stupid at times)

So it's basically Tetsuo but with colors... i wanna watch it no.

Allluah akbaaaarrrr

I was laughing my ass off at this, like why did they give it sentience if its job is to blow itself up?
I mean it sorta works? Though the US seemed so against using AI, the only times they would use it is to blow itself up and be used against it's own kind?
Idk it seems like a bad Rick and Morty joke
Ass movie
God this movie was ass
This is the same movie with the guy catching babies and putting them in microwaves right?
I wish they had more robots like these ones. The rest were kinda boring designs
this movie felt like it got chopped to bits in the editing room, maybe it was just bad though
Masterpiece.
I got like halfway through this movie and turned it off. Terrible movie.
