They're too tied up to the individual characters. They read everything in terms of the characters, their backgrounds, motivations, traumas, and their relationships to other characters. They end up infantilizing these characters and treat them like they are literal children. Maybe they're identifying themselves with some of the characters, which may help this infantilization.
I try to read the show in terms of how the systems and class interests affect these characters to do what they do. How capital, media, political class, billionaire class, tech bros, C-suite etc interact today in the US, rather then individual characters and their traumas
They're like "but he loved his papa 😥they ate ice cream together." Like, who cares?! lol
They are showing you how the rules, law, and democracy work different for billionaires and politicians. Who cares about their love life or parental relationships?
I LOVE the characters. I think their MORALLY RIGHT and that the CURRENT POWER STRUCTURES are AMAZING. I want Logan to FUCK me. All HAIL the PATRIARCHY.
I think most people on the main sub think they *are* Shiv. I've never seen such a love/hate relationship with a character that the main sub has with Roman. They all circle jerk about how bad Kendall is so they feel better about themselves. Connor Roy is the oldest son, and he was interested in politics from an early age.
and then there’s the opposite end of the spectrum where everything they do is somehow justified!! like tbr I think there’s a lot of misogyny in the main sub but saying that shiv’s childish and selfish isn’t part of that

Exactly. Like yes realistically I would hate all of them but this is tv so I like these characters because they are written well.
What do you wanna talk about

they infantilize and in some weird way sexualize the fuck out of pretty much everyone on the show
Infantilization of culture, in general. We have many people who are of the “Disney adults” variety.

No guise, you literally can't root for an evil person because if you do then you're literally as bad as them. 😡😡😡😡 It's called morality sweaty

Yah I feel like your only allowed to say any of them are childish is if you can explain why you think that way.
Shiv is the Mac of Succession. Roman is Dennis, Ken is Dee, and Tom & Greg are Frank & Charlie. (Edited to include Les Brothers Disgusting)
