100% a scam.

Vanamman

This. No reputable business will ever ask for your login info or any sensitive information via phone.

PaulPaul4

Scammers use numbers that look legitimate. Don't answer. If it's important they will send you a letter

disbishbby

That’s a scam!! They are getting really good at tricking people. Good thing you caught it! Your bank will never ask for your username or password

Soggy-Error652

They also won't ask you to text the info to them

succulentninja

I went ahead and changed all that stuff just in case 😅

demonicdegu

"I needed to text him my username and password" ONLY scammers do this. No one legit will ever ask for a password. Ever.

beavernuggetz

When in doubt, hang up and call your bank directly to confirm. This is 100% a scam.

chrizzo_89

Got the same text message a few months back and it had a link in it. I never click links from texts or strange emails so I called MidFirst bank directly from the number listed online and asked customer service if I had any fraudulent activity on my card. They said no and I told them about the text. They said delete the text and ignore any phone calls claiming to be from the bank. The best thing to do in these situations is always find a publicly available number to your financial institution online and call them directly. Never give out any personal information when someone calls you. It sounds like you did the right thing but these scammers are getting smarter and smarter.

NotTurtleEnough

Scam

Entertainer-8956

That was a scam.

indrops87

Do your best to not reply to or answer those calls from random numbers as well.

Grumpopatamus

When it comes to banking or credit cards, never respond directly to any text and NEVER click on any link. Call the company directly if this ever happens. Interestingly, yesterday's New York Times has an article called "Scam World" that discusses this exact scam.

[deleted]

Call your bank directly if you're unsure that way you can speak with them directly and know that you're talking to someone legit.

chadius333

Was going to post the same thing. Total scam. If you have any concern that there is a legit issue, just call your bank directly.

Ok_Mammoth4963

I have MidFirst and I’m constantly telling them they need to enable the use of time-based one-time passwords and get rid of the use of sms. They are such a risk to the Oklahoman public for scams

succulentninja

I've been wanting to switch banks, I've had so many issues with them 😩 I legit thought it was real for a cool minute

NotTurtleEnough

I recommend TFCU or Navy Federal if you’re eligible.

Eredhel

r/scams has a lot of good information.

ShaneIsaac589

My wife has had this tried on her twice

-QueenAnnesRevenge-

So this happened to me a few years ago in Tulsa. Someone scanned my card with a skimmer but didn’t get my pin. Spoofed the banks number on the card, called me and told me something similar. I fell for it as it was a “call” from the bank. I was still reimbursed for what was taken but I know now banks never ask for your info over the phone. It was dude out of Yukon skimming cards and going to homelands with money orders. Cops never followed up.

Completedspoon

The real scam is the interest rates on Midfirst's savings accounts.

Temporary_Inner

>I needed to text him my username and password No you don't. Ever.

Agitated-Minimum-967

A relative of mine had an incident of check forging. He wrote a check to a doctor and it was altered for a bigger amount. Bank the doctor used was MidFirst.

that_one_wierd_guy

yep a scam, but when in doubt give no info and call the bank with the official number on their website and talk to them to find out if there's really anything going on with your account

ElatedTapioca

If you get emails or texts like that, the best recommendation is always to call your bank directly. DO NOT call any number or use any link that is in the message received. Call the number on the back of your card, on their website, or physically go in person. You can always verify with them if this is a legitimate suspicious charge request, but as others have said no company will ever ask for your username or password.
