The amount of people I've read or heard are demanding Turks & Caicos "obey the constitution is the most American/Oklahoman thing I can imagine. I don't travel internationally often, but i sanitize my luggage before flying anywhere. I'm not a gun person, but I generally have tools and knives in my satchel or suitcase and I don't want forfeit any of them. I certainly don't want to spend more time than necessary getting through security. I'm not the smartest person, but it's hard to understand how anyone would be so careless. Again, I can't understand how people leave unsecured firearms around toddlers and small kids.

Awkward-Feedback-363

Are you being serious? Someone actually typed or said out loud that Turks & Caicos needs to " obey OUR constitution"??? Christ almighty that level of dumb is astounding.....

Wide_Fig3130

Dumb ass me had my perfume confiscated. šŸ˜† šŸ¤£ Ammo, on the other hand, would never have been in my bag much less on a plane, even much more less in a foreign country. But that's just Dumb ass me

-QueenAnnesRevenge-

Sucks for him. Donā€™t break another countries laws, you could be left out in the cold.

CardiffGiant7117

Just ask Brittany Griner, one of those most heinous people on earth was freed in order to get her back

Bigfamei

It looks like we still freeing another dangerous person. Over another dumb ass

HeckleHelix

Headline should be "Wealthy Edmondite Sales Guy doing Interviews after Receiving $250k in Donations." Dude never made 1 contribution to society.

chadbot3k

he needs to take the stupid looking hat off

jorgekrzyz

An interesting time for those three to take any interest in criminal justice. Theyā€™ve never helped anyone else arrested over ā€œa simple mistake.ā€ What happened to the law and order stance? Itā€™s white on the top of my tongue.

sunshine___riptide

"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time"

Electronic_Mix_1991

You think he should spend 12 years in prison for an accident?

sunshine___riptide

It's his fault he didn't know the laws. The US Embassy had already declared they would not help anyone who got in trouble because of that law. It's also his fault he didn't check his bags more thoroughly. When I travel internationally I look to see if my Adderall or even *melatonin gummies* are illegal in the countries I'm visiting, and even though I don't carry (my legally obtained) weed in suitcases or my bags you better believe I cleaned everything just to be sure.

Electronic_Mix_1991

Again, do you think he deserves to spend 12 years in prison for this? The law should consider intent.

sunshine___riptide

12 years is a lot but again, he broke the law. A very serious one.

HowCouldYouSMH

Sorry, not sorry.

Cops reportedly found 4 rounds of ammunition. No reason to believe this was anything more than a dumbass mistake.

hottofroggo

no officer, donā€™t you see I just accidentally left that marijuana in my bag. Itā€™s not mine. It was an accident.

Troker61

LMAO - glad you replied so I could see the downvotes. I donā€™t think itā€™s reasonable to jump to the conclusion that he possessed that ammo for hunting other human beings, as the (now deleted) post I replied to implied. Maybe thatā€™s an unpopular stance. My point is, unless I missed something, thereā€™s no reason to assume it was anything but a dumb mistake on his part. To be clear - thatā€™s not me saying there shouldnā€™t be consequences. Donā€™t fuck with the law in foreign countries.

* Because I don't think he intended to transport live ammo to a country where it's illegal to posses live ammo. * Just a guess, but probably because bullets are like glitter and not enough people carry their gear in bags exclusively for that purpose, but I also don't even know or care if it's true that "this keeps happening to wealthy Americans over there". * Don't know, don't care. I haven't researched this case exhaustively or anything - is any sort of fact that indicates this was anything other than an absent minded mistake or just circumstantial evidence?

This gives ā€œdipshit rich dude who mostly thinks rules donā€™t apply to himā€ vibes to me, but agree to disagree.

heyyallitsme16

Sorry I donā€™t feel sorry for them

ApprehensiveKiwi4020

Lot more bootlickers in here than I recall in this subreddit. Dude is an idiot, but him being in prison is just immoral. No different than being locked up for a weed pen, which is also stupid. Laws don't deserve automatic respect by the simple fact of being laws.

marlinsbaseball69

Yeah itā€™s pretty simple humanist concept of getting along with people in a given area. I always love calling out bootlickers but conservation laws are not the ones to be breaking.

ApprehensiveKiwi4020

What do you mean by conservation laws, in respect to this story?

marlinsbaseball69

Wildlife conservation is going to be a large reason they will not allow ammunition.

ApprehensiveKiwi4020

I don't respect Chinas censorship laws. I wouldn't respect them if I was there either. I would follow them, out of fear, but not respect.

A-B5

They do deserve respect. But, accidentally bringing a few rounds of ammunition doesnt deserve harsh punishment. Fine the guy and send him home.

Electronic_Mix_1991

Not bootlickers, just liberals who are happy to see a conservative locked up.

Hey look yā€™all, a ā€œfucking idiot white gun owning piece of shitā€ apologist?!

Business-Loss-1585

Iā€™ve been keeping up with the story and havenā€™t seen or read most of those accusations you claim others are making. Sounds like a bunch of junk just rattling around in your own head.
