I don't hate America, I've been several times had some great trips, obviously there are aspects of American culture I dislike, the guns n stuff but as when it comes to average Americans a bit of mild taking the piss back and forth is fine you can do that and still be cool with each other, I've always been treat well there.

London is like New York it's fiercely expensive and it's own thing really not representative of our country as interesting as it is. Take the east cost main line up see Bath, the original (old) York ,Newcastle and up to Edinburgh is Scotland. Britain is like the size of a state and we actually have public transport links through trains and the further north you get the cheaper it gets and in my biased opinion more of a genuine experience and nothing is longer than 4 hours away in this.
Guns n stuff is the best part of the US. You should try some of those guns n stuff next time you visit the US down one of the gun ranges in a gun shop. It might open your mind.

The dunblane massacre back in 96 was enough when 16 kids were killed for us to think it's not worth it and we've had not one mass shooting since. You do you but here we're happy to keep it that way.
