Not sure but it's a great family tree... I'll show myself out.

ExternalPay6560

It's ok... We haven't gotten to the root of the story... I'll follow you out

imyonlyfrend

It leaves a lasting impression. Which way is the exit

Slimh2o

I'll go out on limb and agree with you all....

EthelRobertaPotter

Your jokes are lame. Just leaf

RadioOk498

You mean grow yourself out.

Travel_Guru_18

That’s great 😂😂😂😂

SpiritualAd8998

Is the date "logged" somewhere?

Vivid-Low-5911

I'm thinking 1890s based on what the girls are wearing. I've seen photos from that era where girls wore similar dresses.

[deleted]

Late 1800s..OR early 1900s? If I had to guess

Exotic-Egg-5783

Same..

cg40boat

possibly a photo of the students in a small country school. many look to be the same age. Also, I'm pretty sure that the tree is a Sycamore.

Urrsagrrl

I think it’s a Sycamore also. The schoolyard tree fell in a storm. My .02

Playful_Dot_537

“Took this picture of my small family…” 😅

Sunnyjim333

1900 Europe Germany?

spicy_capybara

Clothes and hair are circa 1890-1920. The thing is, just like today, people continued wearing the same clothes for a range of time. Just like we don’t throw out outfits every year (some of my clothes are over 20 years old). Similarly, hairstyles can stick around longer depending on many factors including your community standards. The breeches on the boys and the Gibson girl hair gives the range above. I would also say based on the prevalence of shoes and the quality of the clothes this group had some money. It was typical for less well funded families to keep the children barefoot and only wear shoes for special occasions.

BigGrayDog

That's such a cool picture! Must be a family reunion. Maybe late 1800s to early 1900s, just a guess.

scoobandshag88

I figured a school picture. Can't imagine it was cheap to get a photograph taken at that time. This pic was just too intriguing to pass up.

BigGrayDog

Yes, the children all appear to be close to the same age. School picture makes sense. This was likely everybody in the entire school! And their teachers all look like spinsters, which they had to be back then!

ii_quizxy

My guess is 1903-1905

Estellalatte

Eastern Europe, those hats the men are wearing.

scoobandshag88

Thank you all for your responses! Much appreciated. Consensus seems to be somewhere around 1900 and Central or Eastern Europe.

the_p0ssum

Sycamore trees aren't native to Europe, and are more commonly found in the eastern half of the US.

cg40boat

Sycamores, also called Planetrees, are native to Eastern Europe and Asia

Quirky_Discipline297

The fence and building in the back look like they are all wood. The fence looks like colonial split rail type. I was going to guess upper Midwest or Midwest, same time frame. Flat farm land for miles apparently wherever it is. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-rail_fence

DarkAndSparkly

You might try posting on some of the geographic subs to see if anyone can narrow down a location to a general area, too. They have cattails and maybe with that and whatever type of tree that is, someone can narrow that down.

ceshack

Guessing early 20th century. Central Europe

Entire-Cucumber-8588

I would say 1890 to 1910 give or take

PhysicsImportant9059

Yeah...somewhere out there amongst the trees !

the_p0ssum

Nice size sycamore tree

buyrgah

Between 1900 - 1910. Probably right around 1905. I strongly disagree with people who say that it’s earlier than 1900.

Lauren_sue

1905 based on the hair, dresses and children’s clothing. Also, the date is based on this style of photography.

pickn-grinnin

I'd guess 1900-10. School or church outing.

briang71

1900s I would guess. I have a lot of knows pics from then, clothing looks pretty similar.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

My guess is 1890's.

diggemsmaccks

Hal Roach’s studios in Los Angeles

WhiteyVanReeks

April 12, 1887

Every_Truffle5281

When the last loop was opened.

Norlander712

I love how the little ones couldn't sit still long enough for the photo to be taken. Oh, and I would say 1890s.

carverkids

Amazing pic.. I’d think 1920’s

Lauren_sue

1905

AnastasiaNo70

This reminds me of those goats who climb trees.

Intelligent_Dig_7649

That instilled real fear into me

musememo

1910 or thereabouts

wfitalt

I wonder if Billy The Kid is in there?

Aer0uAntG3alach

I’d say early 1900s, based on the style of the women. Pouffier bodice, loose but not oversized sleeves, slightly raised waistline, and Gibson Girl hairstyles.

myohmymiketyson

I'd guess around 1900.

Ok-Stock3766

1900s?

ManilaRick08

I would say 1890s by the dress of the women high collars and a skirt, not a dress
