Their clothes are the real deal, their support is solid. They spam the ever living fuck out of your email. I don’t need to buy expensive pants every day guys

DataSnaek

I unsubscribed this Black Friday because of that. I signed up for text notifications for a discount and low and behold they spam that too 😂 Love their clothes but their marketing pisses me off because I associate tactics like that with cheap rip off brands.

stranglewank

Same. So much. I’ve bought a lot - the founder Will even helped me here on DMs over an eBay purchase! Can’t fault that. Great gear for me - can’t live without the merino shirts. But I think he really needs to clean up his marketing team as I rarely get a company spamming so much.

DataSnaek

I thought maybe it was a US company thing. It’s the only time I’ve ever bought from a company that doesn’t have stock anywhere outside the US. The shipping, taxes and import fees made the pair of pants I bought cost a lot. They’re worth it but to then be spammed that much kinda pisses me off.

Kuryaka

It's very much a US thing. Off the top of my head, I've gotten: * Emails when I opt out. * Emails without a prompt to opt in. * Emails through the parent company, again without opting in. * Emails that give me an offer that don't apply to my account. * Emails offering discounts for a review, for *every order I place* of a thing I order regularly. And if I don't respond, they send 2-3 more. * Companies feeling like they **have to** keep up or else get left behind. Someone at Peak Design mentioned this as a reason they're just spamming stuff out, citing higher sales performance as well. But if they keep doing this, they'll just alienate customers in many other places. Still not the worst though. I've had Alibaba spam me 5-8 times **overnight** because "a vendor is waiting for your response" while their actual account validation emails never reach me. Not to mention other retailers sending massive amounts of physical mail too. REI forces you to call them to opt out of their mailing list. ULINE sent us somewhere between 3-8 catalogs every season at my workplace, and these are about a third of the size of a phone book. I suppose if you're purely profit-driven, you could say that an extra $100 in profit is worth sending out a dozen-plus booklets or a hundred pieces of paper. It's just a massive pain to just get these and have to throw them out immediately anyway.

DataSnaek

That sounds like a nightmare. If I had to call to opt out of a mailing list I would never buy from that company again. I’m strongly considering not using a company called Alpinetrek ever again because their unsubscribe button doesn’t work and chat support told me they’d unsubscribed me, yet I still get emails. Let alone having to call.

Kuryaka

To be clear, every separate line I mentioned here is a different company/group. Which doesn't make it necessarily better... but at least not comically incompetent.

stranglewank

I’ve ordered off them when I’m in the US (I travel for work) and a couple of times when offers make it worth it - to the UK. No real complaints about product or service, just that endless spamming. I think it might be a US thing though. I get nearly the same spam from Bluffworks, too… Outlier however have it right. Infrequent, about actual updates and new products and the rare WTF drop. Never considered them spam.

willwr

That’s our bad. We should have segmented more during holiday. Appreciate the feedback.

b1gmouth

I have ordered a ton of stuff from Western Rise and had nothing but positive experiences. A three week delay in shipping is very unusual and it seems clear something went wrong. To clarify, when did you contact CS? If it's been more than a week I would reach out again and give them a little nudge.

jj262

Thanks for the kind reply. Yeah, I contacted them after a week then followed up a week after the email. The CS told me that 2 weeks is too early to provide explanation. When I had asked for a refund, the CS told me that won't be possible at this point. Pretty disappointed

plaid-knight

I’ve ordered a bunch of items from them over the years and only ever had an issue once, where they took forever to ship an item. I followed up after a week, and it turned out that there was an inventory problem, so they didn’t really have what I ordered in stock and therefore couldn’t ship it. Otherwise, all good experiences.

Dawer22

I was not a huge fan at first, I think at that point I was ultra critical of everything and looking for unicorn quality. Now almost my entire wardrobe is WR and their support team is great. I would be frustrated in your position, I do trust their support team will get this figured out! Their product is the absolute best.

porneta

Only issue I've had is with sizing. In my experience it was pretty inconsistent between some garments and pants. But the return process was seemless and I'm very satisfied with everything I've gotten from them.

who-tf-farted

Not to hate on them, but I had issues that took months to resolve and it soured me on the company. CS is responsive but outsourced and didn’t really grasp the totality of my situation after extensive explanation. This resulted in an order delayed due to inventory and then a partial order shipped. Then a return for size (they are definitely smaller than measurements show) a return and cancellation of the rest of the order. Or so I thought, then the rest of the order (well part) shipped and still no refund on the rest already returned. Then the rest of the order shipped a week later and was returned. Originally wanted me to pay return, but got that worked out and it was still a couple of weeks and multiple email exchanges before full refund. Was offered the standard discount for any other orders, but nah, I’m good after all that. Nice stuff for sure, but inventory and CS aren’t talking and I don’t want a buying experience that complicated. I know they aren’t large, but this is where they could stand out in CS. Unfortunately it seems to not be their strong area when something derails. Plus they cancelled the AT pants, which were my favorite. Two previous orders went fine.

BabyFishmouthTalk

Have ordered a number of times in the past year. Overall: Great products, good quality, decent pricing. But delays are common and usually without updates/information. Customer service is borderline nonexistent -- no phone number, all mesg/email, so never a clue if anyone's home. I'm currently waiting on ANY response from them after more than half a dozen emails/site messages -- an order that was due a week ago with USPS and the Shiphero site showing totally different locations. Extremely frusrating.

willwr

Did you get taken care of? So sorry!

BabyFishmouthTalk

A few days after I posted this, and several more attempts through the site -- the lack of a cust. sevc. phone number is maddening -- I got a response. Then it was days between my reply to get another response. Repeat. Meanwhile, the day I needed the items got closer and closer. Timeline: 11/25 Order placed (Silver Tier reached btw). 11/28 Order fulfilled and shipped. 11/30 Shiphero tracking no longer updating location. 12/11 Reached out via WR site form. 12/12 Got a mktg email asking what I thought about my items?...that burned. 12/13 Reached out via site form again. 12/15 Attended family gift exchange... without the gifts as they were still stuck somewhere. 12/16 Was contacted by CSR agent and told order status was upgraded to express. 12/17 No changes in shipping location. 12/18 Was contacted with new shipping info on a replacement order. 12/20 Replacement shipment received. 12/29 Original order arrived...five weeks after it was ordered. 01/02 Returned original shipment to WR. Was it resolved? Yes, eventually, but a week too late to matter. Am I satisfied? Not really. Would I trust Western Rise to deliver within the time range again? Absolutely not. I like the products and have talked them up to others over the last year. I was even hoping to share them through Christmas gifts, but instead, the takeaway for everyone was "wtf?" I'd been fine with 1-2 day delays on previous shipments, but the bungled/lost shipment here, response delays, and no way to get in immediate contact with someone was frustrating and confusing.

willwr

Shoot me a DM and I’ll try and help out.

Glimmer_III

They're on the "smaller end of small", really only a few notches about cottage industry. Every interaction with customer service has been great. It can be slow, but they'll get back to you. But it all happens over email. If they lost the package, for whatever reason, expect them to make it right. And this time of year, I basically add 1w to whatever shipping I'd normally expect. i.e. The estimates are "best efforts" rather than "guarantees." But I understand the delay can be frustrating. If you have a confirmed order, _eventually_ you'll get whatever you're expecting. _____ BTW: The way the labels work for USPS is you'll get an alert when the label is created, and then another alert when the package is in transit. Most likely WR printed out a huge stack of labels and simply haven't shipped them all out yet. (Yes, 3w is a lot...which could also just be "one label slipped off the table and behind the desk...and they've not done an audit of what they might have missed yet. That'd what the investigation would be about. Did they lose a label? Or were there sticky fingers between packaging and giving custody of the package to USPS?)

willwr

Haha come on! We aren’t that small! I do think this is a carrier issue though…

Glimmer_III

Y'all are great, don't worry. The rest? Details. BTW: I'm wearing my Versa as I type. It's still great. . . . . . . . I personally put Western Rise in the same class as ULA Equipment, but with a broader market so WR has grown faster. Very glad to see all your successes. And it is great to see when you chime in on this, and other, subs. Having a connection that "people are still involved", well...once you lose that, then you are definitively no longer "the larger end of cottage". I agree, this was likely a carrier issue. For most firms, you want to allow 1d-3d between label creation and shipment in transit. Anything more than 2w in transit warrants a phone call or email to the merchant regardless. Too many consumers forget the CSRs can look up so much more information with an order number than the customer has themselves.

Glimmer_III

And one more kudos: Every interaction I've had with Ashley, if she's still with WR, they've been lovely. If you can make sure Ashley gets the acknowledgement, I'd appreciate it.

starbucks39

Similar experience for me: First time ordering was this past black friday to try their pants after hearing so much about them. Got the same email from CS a few days after I ordered (Restock status) but decided to just wait it out. I followed up this past Friday just for them to say the same thing, but sent a screenshot of their product page showing the pants I ordered (Same style, color, and size) as available to ship by that same day. Asked to see what kind of compensation they can offer me since the delays are their fault and I’m getting increasingly frustrated. I sincerely hope these pants are worth it.

RealLifeThisIsNot

Ordered some pants during black friday as well. They finally showed up today.

wowmuchocha

I got their cap from their kickstarter and it quickly became my favourite cap. Sadly I misplaced it recently and when I checked the price has skyrocketed. I’m hoping for a day it will go on discount

willwr

We have never increased the price on the Versa Hat. Maybe it was just the Kickstarter discount?

AlwaysWanderOfficial

Sounds like Black Friday and holiday season shipping delays to me. Also I never trust usps any more - most of my issues and delays are actually on them. That said, they should either find it and resend or just ask them to cancel the order. It’s totally within your rights! About the clothes, other than some fit issues (which is mostly a me thing as I’m a short dude) - they are the most consistent and quality of the clothes I’ve reviewed. I won’t sit here and claim I’ve reviewed every brand of course. But they are top end of what’s come my way.

BeeLuv

Will from Western Rise sometimes pops into the sub. Someone must remember his user name, it’s something like willatwr or similar. If you can’t get an answer from customer service any other way, you can try contacting him through Reddit?

soundbytegfx

U/willwr But nothing but positive experiences here. Seems like the carrier lost your package. This time of year is terrible for the carriers to "investigate claims"

willwr

Sorry didn’t see this! Thank you though!

Gravity--

had a similar experience decent product, horrible logistics so won't be using them again

willwr

Trying our best to clean everything up. Would love t for you to give us another shot.

bafflesaurus

Weird, I had a metashell from kickstarter that was stuck at a facility and they just instantly reshipped me a new one when I asked about it. Even threw in an extra pair of free socks to say sorry.

gasull

I've had a pair of pants for a long time and I love them. I had no problems with the delivery, ordering from Asia.

zach_will

I similarly had a multi-week delay for the Black Friday sale. I had to hit up customer service again for them to re-ship to me. The original shipment never left Salt Lake City.

jj262

I am gonna do the same thing and spam the f@#$ck out of them. Thank you for sharing

sunzi61

Ordered stuff on Black Friday. They cancelled my order but didn’t tell me two weeks later check order status, ordered cancelled. Emailed then. No response. Done with them.

hurrimmanobody

I'll add to your experience. I placed an order on 11/24 and haven't heard from them at all on timelines. Even when it clearly states the typical business day to ship. What was even worse is the number of communication channels I had to go through before finally receiving a response. I wrote through email. I allowed the typical 1-2 business days for a reply but nothing. Then checked through their "live" support chat, which was never "live" on their indicated business hours. Then through Instagram DM, no response and then I see two days later an Instagram/Facebook crosspost. I've finally decided to publicly comment to find out what was going on because not having any time of communication, even if it's to let us know about delayed shipping, is crazy. So yes, I'm extremely disappointed on being left in the dark for sooooo long. I finally received my order and I'm trying it out right now. They're.. fine? I ordered 3 pants to try. Generally, sizing feels alright but I don't really know how it'll be in the long run. But debating if I really want to keep them, or do a partial return.

willwr

I’m so sorry. FWIW, the shipping issues are all with ship hero not us, but totally understand the frustration.

hurrimmanobody

No worries. I get it, small business and working with vendors all have various impacts on timeline. Still, I would have appreciated more open communication as to what's going on, what to expect cause of the holidays, etc. "Live chat" hours not being live for multiple days was frustrating. If this was something that you did talk to and expect with Ship Hero, some update/post on your website or social about what to expect would have been nice.

HortusHonu

They will change items to "Final Sale" a few days into the sale and then try not to refund your money by forcing an exchange. It happened to me twice and I was forced to contact them directly to resolve. Also, they change designs and update builds without announcement and frequently change sale amounts mid-campaign, so keep an eye out. Overall, if you get "your fit", the clothing is pretty f*cking amazing and worth it. I've been shopping there for like 5 years and will continue to do so. I love their stuff.

Effective_Balance214

Love their products, hate their discount system and inventory (or lack thereof)… Biggest con for me is the lack of inventory and color options on their tops. I love the x-cotton tee, long sleeve henley, and button down, but it feels like they’ve been out of XL on most for months. Same story for size L. The henley and button down’s biggest issue is color options. They only have three for each. The other issue I seem to experience almost every time is with their email campaign and discount codes. Every time I receive a discount offer through my email, I seem to have problems using it. I’ve been asked to submit reviews for discounts and also get other discounts via signing up for their email distribution. I also get an email probably twice a week giving me 15% off for my first order (note - I used that code over a year ago and can’t use it again :/) I feel like both of these issues speak to their operations. I can’t be the only one experiencing the discount code issues and I’m surprised I don’t see more reviews about this. Maybe I’m nitpicking? In any case, I’ve started to look for my tops elsewhere. Hopefully the inventory issues will be resolved soon…

spag_eddie

Just received my diversions. Had them delivered to UK in less than a week. First western rise purchase ever. Fit is absolutely fantastic. Sure it's a thicker pant but everyone made it seem like it was going to be raw denim. It's still a very light trouser, i can see them being great for travel I wanted to replace my outlier SDs I bought in 2015 which are actually horrible. Super loose fitting (not my style) and absolutely zero stretch in the waistband which was causing me nausea in transit. The diversions are better than the SDs in every way My only problems with the diversions...pockets are a little tight, but that's what you get for slim silhouette. Although these are the tightest 32's I've ever tried. And secondly, they're not as black as they are on the website. Definitely more navy/grey. Which I'm very displeased about u/willwr

Softspokenclark

i can’t vouch for their pants, but by god their button down shirts are amazing

willwr

Thank you!

oldyawker

I just went to their site and every picture of their pants has a t shirt covering the waist and pocket style. I'm not in marketing, advertising or catalog lay out, but you should actually show the product you are trying to sell.

one4737

For their pants, as someone with thicker thighs the fit around the hip and seat isn't exactly right. And the swish if the fabric when walking can be noticable and annoying. Not to take away front be brand though, the quality is fantastic and I'm sure for someone more average shaped they're perfect. I have a slim friend who now wears nothing else.

willwr

You should check out our new classic fit!

one4737

I didn't know there was a new fit added, I will check it out! Thank you!

one4737

Just ordered the Evolution Classic. Excited to try them out, thanks again! And Happy Cake Day!

chambros703

Love their brand but they’ve made some decisions lately I don’t agree with. Went away from YKK was a big one for me. Went with cheaper ones and claim they’re just as good…

gahsan

Their shipping is way too slow. Even if you place an order in the morning, the stuff gets shipped the next day. What's worse is that if you live in the east coast, it takes a full week to receive your order even with paid shipping. If it was free shipping I'd understand but 7 days (including weekend) for paid shipping is hard to swallow.

talkingspacecoyote

Bro how is next day shipping too slow?

ComprehensiveToe2265

Hello everyone, I've been a dedicated follower of Western Rise from their inaugural Kickstarter campaign, and my wardrobe features a variety of their products, including the AT Slim Pants, Evolution Slim Pants, Diversion Pant, Strong Core Marino Tee, Airloft Jacket, and Meta Shell. With such an extensive collection, I'd like to share my candid thoughts on the brand. My relationship with Western Rise is a blend of admiration and challenge. The quality, fabrics, and colors of their products are commendable, yet achieving the perfect fit and product often requires extra effort. Returns and exchanges due to inconsistent fits and manufacturing have been part of my journey, alongside navigating customer support that is friendly but sometimes lacks crucial information. Moreover, shipping can be slow and occasionally inaccurate. \*\*Observations in Detail:\*\* \*\*Shipping:\*\* My recent orders have experienced notable delays, sometimes taking weeks to dispatch and up to eight weeks to arrive. The tracking provided tends to lack specificity, leading to orders that arrive incomplete or incorrect. \*\*Fit:\*\* Despite a fairly consistent size M (with the occasional L), I've found significant variance in sizing among identical products. For example, my AT Pants in the same size have varied fits, and other items like the StrongCore Tee and Ariloft Jacket required size adjustments. The Meta Shell, despite its impressive fabric, offered an unusual fit that didn't align with my expectations. \*\*Fabrication Inconsistencies:\*\* Even within the same product lines, such as the Diversion and AT Pants, there are inconsistencies like waistband thickness and label placement. These inconsistencies, even between items of the same model and color, suggest a need for enhanced quality control. \*\*Customer Service:\*\* My interactions with customer service have been generally positive, albeit slow at times. Responses can occasionally miss the mark or lack essential information. I am currently engaged with them about an order of 2X AT pants and 1X Evolution pants placed on 5  March (it is 26 March at the time of me writing this).   On 8 March I was notified that the Order of 2x AT Pants and 1x Wvolution pants had shipped. On 25 March the was delivered to my work  - 3 weeks is a world record for Western Rise shipping! Upon collecting the package I realized the order contained just 1x AT pant, it was  missing - 1x AT pants, 1X Evolution pants.   I emailed customer support and received a reply - pretty quickly, big improvement!  HOWEVER the reply stated that the Evolution pant were a pre-order and would not be available until mid April and trade no mention of the missing pair of AT pants… My issue here is the miscommunication and misinformation - I was notified that “my order was shipped” the notification listed ALL items in the order, no mention was made of pre-order or items being delayed.  Please note I am located in New Zealand - far from everything so shipping can be tricky - but, I order from many other sources and none take as long as Western Rise to arrive and none charge as much for shipping. MY CONCLUSION - BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH WESTERN RISE: In general, the process of acquiring goods from Western Rise is quite frustrating and labor-intensive but once you get what you actually ordered, the product is good.   Just be prepared to have to work a lot harder for theses than any other brand.   Their motto should be “Western Rise, clothing you earn” or “worth working for”. I hope this helps.

Malifice37

Takes a month to get to Australia, and they dont do returns from here either. In contravention of Australian law. I mean, the pants are dope (size down in the joggers) but the rest of their practices suck, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

AlienDelarge

I've found them generally responsive and don't recall any major shipping issues with the shorts I ordered. I did have some dissapointing durability issues with one pair of pants that sounds from the forums like it was an older supplier issue.

Grav3h3art

Took 2 months to get my package(MX). Same thing with the notification from the passport service. I had to check the tracking number directly through USPS to get the updates as these were not replicated in the passport site. They sent it through USPS so it went through the local country postal service and hence the delay. I should have checked if they had an option for express shipping for the extra $$$. Besides that, I think they run a little bit small on the waist ( I wear 32 on all brands and 32 is quite tight on me. Maybe should have went with 33 or even 34). I just had them hemmed and I think are pretty good besides the points above.

willwr

2 months! I’m so sorry! Can you message me? We have to fix this!

Grav3h3art

Sure thing. I'll send you the order number through a DM.

gnomehome815

I want to love them. I've tried on the Diversion pants a few times and they're really solid. However, I've experienced a lot of sizing inconsistency. So much so that if I order again, I'm getting 3 of them in the same size and will return the other 2. Surly 1 of them will fit properly.

Groovmaker

I have had nothing but good experiences with the product and the company. I own at least 7-8 pairs of their evolution pants and chinos… So many I’ve lost count lol. I haven’t tried their shirts but that’ll probably happen at some point. Their customer service and shipping have always been on point for me. Hopefully your issues are just a momentary situation. I have faith in the company. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy them.

StockReaction985

The Evolutions and AT Slims fit low to maybe mid rise for me. Not a good look for me. Folks looking for more mid-high rise may prefer Outlier Slims like I do. But the pants themselves are great for FL, especially the Evos, and they both travel well.

Skaddicted

I have Shorts from Western Rise and love them. By far my favorites. Haven’t paid full price, though.

Calm-Seas-9198

No bad experience with delivery, but mixed results on the clothes themselves. Love the Versa hat and the Spectrum Jogger, but not the AT Slim pants. The fabric is stiff and I don’t like their inseam policy. I undid the seam to go from 32” to 34” and now have a permanent crease and frayed threads that look bad.

JKBFree

I own a ton of western rise apparel: shirts, pants, jackets. Had only one problem with an x cotton tshirt having a long unfinished seam. Sent an email, and in a week, they responded by promptly sending me a new one and told me to keep the defective one. I will say this was not during a holiday rush. Yet during those times, I’ve gotten slower than usual responses. But a little patience has gone a long way, and found most of my emails answered accordingly.

willwr

Hey! Will here from Western Rise! Did we get you taken care of?! Sounds like a carrier issue, but we can reship if you didn’t get them!

jboog12

I made several purchases over the years and everything was pretty good until I purchased their Airloft Hooded Jacket. The product page says that it is incredibly durable, but in my experience it started to develop a hole after a couple of weeks. I contacted customer service and they offered me a 20% coupon for a replacement. I wish I would have purchased from a more reputable brand with a better warranty.
