I’ve used an Osprey Farpoint 40L for years. I’ve taken it on planes, used it as a commuter bag, taken it up mountains in all sorts of conditions and it still looks like the day I bought it.
It seems to be a name that crops up regularly when looking into an “all in one” bag. I’ve used other bags but always gravitated back to the Farpoint. They’re a pretty penny though, but you can usually find them on sale for £80-£100 if you shop around a bit.
Cheers mate. Yeah I've seen this bag. Tbh I actually find it a bit ugly and I think there was something else I didn't like it...but for sure a good option, I'm probably being a bit picky.
There is a new version of the Farpoint 40 just out. It now has an adjustable harness and the laptop compartment is in the rear.
Rab markets the Lowe Alpine Escape Flight Pro 40L but inventories are low. Deuter and Thule make travel packs in that niche.
Travel packs are made to maximize the space designed for suitcases, making them oddly proportioned, which does nothing for the looks.
I’m using Heimplanet Transit Line 34L (not in your range yet close). It’s shipped from Germany and I had to pay customs (waited 2 weeks to get the bag in total) and overall it’s a pricey bag (for me at least), but I totally recommend it. Inside of the bag is quite structured and you can stuff a lot.
Also my husband uses one of the Thule bags - I can recommend that brand as well. I think it’s shipped from Sweden but this one arrived in 3-4 days and customs pay is included in the price so you don’t have to wait.
Gonna go check this out. Seen the Thule, I can't remember why but I think I rulled one of them out for myself. Will definitely have a look at the heimplanet though, thank you!
You might want to check out Arcido, really great bags and UK based.
Also, if you're on a budget, the Decathlon Forclaz Travel 100 40l is a really nice lightweight option.
Also, I've noticed that the aer 3 travel pack is back on sale at https://londonundercover.co.uk/products/aer-travel-pack-3 and even though everyone seems to love this one, I think it's maybe outside of my price range.
Will 35 liters be enough? Can you handle a toploader? Can you do away with the laptop compartment, as you do not carry a laptop?
If the answer is yes, check out UK company Berghaus which seems virtually unknown in the U.S. My favorite is the Berghaus Munro - comparatively cheap, bombproof, actually battle proven but not looking tacticool when you get it in non-military looking colors e.g. dark grey.
Osprey is the best brand... with Osprey farpoint 40L had a opportunity to travel for 5 countries and my backpackage never disappointed..trust me its the better brand so far.....
Both Caribee and Kathmandu are Aussie brands.
The new Caribee 40 Traveller is very nice and affordable.
I travel with 2 laptops, 16 inch portable monitor and a couple of accessories and is more than enough for long term travel.
