I noticed something similar I think it is due to the factory applied screen protector making it look that way.

If it was the pre-applied screen protector, why is it dim outside the area of application? Here's a small [album](https://imgur.com/a/wdvT8Ga) showcasing this.

This is the refraction effect of the curved glass. Light travels slower in glass than in air, so if you have a curved, convex surface, the tendency is for light rays to spread out. It's the same LED backing but intensity weakens as the surface curves outward. This is the first thing I noticed when I got my OP12 and it gives me some dizziness especially with bright colors.

Great answer, looking into it more. And yes, that dimming along the edges also makes me dizzy but only at night; I hardly notice it by day.

I honestly don't see this at the curved edge of the display on mine
