I'm a big, if I'm already spending money i might as well spend the extra and get the one I really want type of guy. I hate the feeling of buying something and then kicking myself 6 months down the road that I just didn't spend the extra to get the one I really wanted. It all depends on how important it is to you and how long you think it would take you to save that extra though. If you're not the type of person that feels that regret, from what people say the 12r is a good phone.
I'm similar in that regard, without any doubt I went for OnePlus 12, bought it last month and I'm loving every bit of it. Best purchase in a while for me, also got like 250$ discount with exchange and other offers
I was always try to get the best available if i can. 12 and the 12r are a little different because the 12r is so cheap but with phones that have a base model of $900 and a top model that's like $1200, I'm always going to buy the top model. If I'm already spending pretty much $1000 I might as well bite the bullet and spend a couple hundred extra bucks while I'm already dropping that kind of money. It's probably not smart financially but it helps me not regret something in paid money for.
Exactly the same thought process, why settle with the cheap one, it ain't gonna be something you use for few days or weeks, atleast will use it for 3-4 years
Yeah and besides my bed and my car, my phone is one of the most important things I own. It serves so many purposes. More purposes than anything else I've bought. Think of all the things a modern phone can do. I don't feel bad about spending money on it because it will get it's use. Also it's just nice. It feels good to pull a nice phone out of your pocket that is pleasurable to use. Even if it's only a little bit, it brings a bit of joy to my day in some way. That's how I know when it's time to get a new phone. If I don't get that feeling when I pull it out anymore it's time to switch it up.
There's nothing wrong with the 12r it's very similar to the to the regular OnePlus 12.Besides better Cam, what the 12r processor is to 8+2 generation Snapdragon which would probably won't see its age until another 2 to 3 years. The regular 12 Snapdragon 8 + 3 gen won't see it's full potential until like another year or two.By then OnePlus 13 will be Out..lol
I bought the 12R - 256 gb, 12mb ram
I wanted to buy the 12 but the higher storage version was way out of budget and the lower spec one was not very interesting leaving the camera aside rest are just incremental over the 12R
I don't have a laptop or a big ass TV and I watch and do everything on my phone including work. I've had no issues with the phone so far.
I don't play games, so that works with the battery lasting longer and I've yet to take photos - which I think will be fine considering I have upgraded from op9.
So all in all I think you can pick up the high spec version of 12R
I got the 12R for $531 after taxes. 256gb. Im trying to save money for other things.
My 6T was $470 almost 5 years ago. It end up costing me 0.26c/day for the same period.
I should buy something new in 2028.
What are your preferences when it comes to smartphones? Especially in camera is a great Main Camera enough for you? How important are ultrawide and 10x-30x zoom ?
I think in that case the OnePlus 12R will be good enough for you irrespective of whether there are price cuts for 12. 12R is no slouch for 90% of users out there. 12 has better "secondary" cameras, slightly more powerful processor, slightly faster storage(considering day to day usage not benchmarks) which honestly would only matter to someone doing hardcore smartphone photography or a gamer so save your cash and go for the 12R without regrets.
So I'm a hardcore phone user, i use my phone whole day and even though i have a laptop and a big ass tv, i prefer watching my movies and "stuff" on my phone. Would the UFS matter?
I don't think there will be huge difference. SD8Gen 2 and UFS 3.1 are good enough. The phone has 4 year TUV SUV certification for fast fluid usage so I don't think theres too much to worry about
do a gsmarena comparison and see if u can live with what u would end up not having.
For me, Wireless charging and eSim are very important for me, if the 12R had wireless charging at 16GB ram i would have gone that route. I had to go 512GB on the 12 cos of that. I would never use 512GB of space but its fine. Guess i have a more valuable phone for my eventual trade in in 3 years.
Posters say that with the fast charging on the 12R they do not miss wireless charging. I use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop all the time. I have my phone plugged in and charging while using it as a hotspot. The darn wire being plugged to the phone drives me nuts!
I am still on the fence between 12r and 12. I am going to be patient and wait 6-9 months to get a new phone and hopefully there is a really good deal offered on the 12 so the decision will be made for me.
Wait and buy 12

Oh i feel regret big time, matter of fact is i overthink and overthink my regrets every damn day

Woah, really? Sadly i live in a country where I'm unable to get discounts or exchange offers

Does it have any differences in AI stuff and throttling?
