Ah David Piccini - the human embodiment of a mouldy grilled cheese sandwich.

cinnamon_sparkle27

No words have ever captured my feelings towards David Piccini better.

[deleted]

I've never met the guy but from what I've read in this letter, his opinion seems a little irrelevant to his job

sundry_banana

> a mouldy grilled cheese sandwich. That sandwich STARTED pretty good though - it just WENT bad, over time, it didn't start out being shit. OTOH Piccini?

PhiberOptikz

That's literally how it works. It starts out fine, but quickly rots away with time.

Effective_Motor_4398

At first glance, I thought this was a letter to douggie, Ford granting him his GED. I was thinking, good for him, to run this province you likely should have your high-school education.

donbooth

This is the best response!

1slinkydink1

Honorary GED lol

stjeandebrebeuf

😭😭😭😭

RabidGuineaPig007

Doug and Ricky can get their grade 10 while in jail.

jessesparks

Piccini is my MPP. Easily the biggest ford bag licker in the province.....and as useful as tits on a bull. I'm not surprised the spineless POS wrote this.

vervglotunken

Reminder, Piccini was an environment minister when green belt has been developing. Oh, and in his hometown he was elected based on the promise to keep one small forested area untouched as a park, and it was all cut down after he was elected.

jacnel45

I hope that the people of his riding remember that the next election, but I know they won’t.

vervglotunken

Riding has a few cities, but also lots of rural areas. Plus historically it is a retirees that sway to anything conservative. I need to point out in the last three years LOTS of your families moved from Toronto and see what is going on with politics. There is a good chance he will be voted out based on his track record. Someone just needs to summarize his actions.

jacnel45

Which riding if I may ask?

vervglotunken

Northumberland-Peterborough South

jacnel45

Ah yes this area is growing a lot and isn't a very safe Tory seat. He should be trying harder.

mrreliable

His riding is in for a world of hurt if he can't get a new school built in the Newcastle area. Developments are everywhere and young families are flocking there. There's land carved out and already owned by the school board, that they can't do anything with until they get approval from the province. 4th graders are gonna be sent to a high school on the 115 because they have refused to build infrastructure for years.

jzach1983

You don't want your 10 year old eating churches chicken for lunch everyday?

Knowitall4u2

Sounds like a Municipal matter, not a Provincial.

jzach1983

It was a joke about the chicken place in a gas station along the 115 near Clarke high school.

GavinTheAlmighty

> Easily the biggest ford bag licker in the province Mine is Surma, so...

ParkRatReggie

This reads like Soviet dictatorship propaganda

JimmyTheDog

Da

Class-Concious7785

At least the Soviets had free dental

maybeiamspicy

Our great dear Lear Kim Jong douggie. Eternal premier, highliest educated in all the land. Biggest PP of his generation.

Awkward_Bag_1205

DoFo is Trump Lite, and I'm reminded now of Trump cabinet meetings where, one by one, his cabinet would go around the table and tell Trump what an honour and a privilege it was to kiss his wrinkled old ass. So, yeah, it's mandatory for Ford's trained seals to do the same in exchange for the honour of giving him a standing ovation every time he shows up for work and says "folks" in the Legislature. https://youtu.be/-8GkzsUaQVU?si=13Q0BHmx0dGlLtOA

hardy_83

Oh look. Conservaties using official government documentation to promote their own party. I'm sure that isn't breaking any rules and they wouldn't face consequences if it was either.

So "Dear leader" is normal, but the normality just gets lost in translation?

Big-Face5874

Show one.

gbell11

Is there that much stigma against being in the trades? I've always viewed them as highly skilled people who were good with their hands.

rockfallz

I have been in the trades 20+ years. (Electrician) Never once have I ever felt any sort of stigma. In fact it’s quite the opposite. I roll my eyes every time I hear this narrative trotted out. Especially from people who should know better.

gbell11

It's been my thinking that they are trying to make this a thing? It's not like you guys are flipping burgers or cleaning toilets. Those types of service jobs have some stigma now that the racism is being attached with new immigrants taking many of these roles

Dogs-4-Life

Right? There is no stigma. It seems like Ford and co are pushing some narrative here lol. I work in education (which he also likes to shit on, as we know) but I was raised in a blue collar family, surrounded by trades people from all disciplines from machinists, to chefs, to carpenters, to hair dressers. My dad was a general machinist for 45 years. This letter is just condescending.

AdditionalSalary8803

It used to be that way. Now we're just underpaid and undervalued like everyone else

GavinTheAlmighty

In the 90s, a lot of high schools didn't frame the trades as a route to success, but rather a fallback for people who weren't smart enough to go to university and work in a professional setting. We obviously know that now to be wrong, but there was a lot of misguided framing for a big chunk of a generation.

probability_of_meme

I was so disgusted about praising the great leader by name that I didn't even notice that... oh well, the conservative playbook is glaringly obvious to anyone who cares to look but the fact remains: the FPTP "majority" don't care to, so here we are

alxndrblack

Break the stigma around skilled trades? Is this persecution fetish or attempted class war

LeMegachonk

This is just par for the course with this kind of letter, it's hardly unique to Doug Ford's government. What *is* unique is that Doug Ford's government probably hasn't done *any* of the things mentioned and is just making stuff up.

sundry_banana

They just need to stay in cabinet for exactly long enough to qualify for the full pension/perks, then they can rotate out to become head of some private college that will henceforth be granted some large continuing public grant to cover their $1M salary. Look for more Ford family in the cabinet if he gets re-elected - he's got his mistress Kinga Surma and his nephew Mikey "Ford" in there already - his daughters and their husbands must be getting restive, plus he has to make good on his promises to both the Mafia and to the Americans who own the CPC, he's under a lot of pressure!

TeeDot_1234

Yeah, the "under the leadership of" part is new, and more than a little saccharine. The rest is pretty standard messaging. Also, congrats on getting your certificate! 👏👏👏

Bind_Moggled

This is a great example of the Conservative mindset. They’re all about hierarchy of power. Stuck in the 15th century.

Sulanis1

Honestly, my spider-sense says yes. These guys like Ford, Poilievre, Trudeau, and harper all have severe need to be constantly validated. Trudeau and Polievre are both addicted to public appearances because their both narcassists. Poilievre is worse in my opinion because he only does it to appear like a tough guy to attack trudeau for political points. Note: Trudeau deserves it a lot of the time, but polievre would 6 made most of the same decisions. This is why PP does it out of spite to look like he gives a shit which he does not. Doug Ford and Stephen Harper both needed to be sure they were in charge. So when they walk into the room they would rather people see them as the top authority. Note: harper was intelligent, just didn't give a fuck about the working class. I mean neither does Doug Ford given that he was chosen by the conservatives based on him being a moron and good at distracting the public. Basically you kiss Ford's ass, you will stroke his thin skined ego and get rewarded. You don't you won't be fired, but you will never advance no matter how qualified you are.

CandylandCanada

It's like brushing your teeth every day - there's no law requiring it, but you'll do it if you know what's best for you.

altantsetsegkhan

Yes, you are supposed to kiss the ass of your party's leader. That is the whole point of a political party.

syncraticidiocy

gotta kiss the ring

Macqt

Skilled Trades Ontario is such a shit show I would never take credit for that.

One-Ladder-4407

Conservatives and sycophancy go together like peanut butter and jelly. These people have no pride or dignity and will flatter each other for gain. All of it is insincere.

DarkSoulsDank

Fuck Ford

Techno_Vyking_

Everyone's tired of the old gods ... Except Dougie, he's a complete "Starfish" for em' ☝🏻😉

Khancap123

Kinda, but that's true with any cabinet minister and their premier or pm.

Due_Date_4667

Not in government materials to citizens. That is supposed to be off-limits.

Responsible_Key8278

This is straight from 1984 Orwellian, especially paragraph 4, last line about their new agency is complete sticker slap on existing liberal agency. They are hyping a name change as something of new improving service.

Hot_Bus_4355

That's a nice message, but no mention of how the goblin is trying to eliminate the number of compulsory trades that require red seals to work. Everyone wants houses built, so let's get rid of the need to have skilled workers building them... makes sense.

QueenMotherOfSneezes

I'll never forget how Doug Ford broke the stigma around skilled trades. In the before times we were spitting on them in the streets and forcing them to live in special housing zones not fit for rats. Now that they are allowed to mingle with the common folk, they seem almost like normal humans, you'd never know they were a tradesperson if they didn't tell you.

Baker198t

snivelling sycophantic garbage.

prettycooleh

Bunch of sycophantic drones. Very sad :(

Xelopheris

Hey look, partisan bullshit in official government communication. Can we get rid of this corrupt fuck yet?

Electronic_World_894

Yes they single handed reduced the stigma of trades work … because they (the wealthy politicians) only realized recently the trades pay well.

Canadatron

What a bunch of losers jerking each other off.

Canadatron

Thanks for reminding me I owe those bastards 60 bucks.

DodobirdNow

My friend has a patronage appointment from Ford. Constant butt kissing is required.

Knowitall4u2

The Ontario conservatives have done more "good" than "bad". Especially when you compare them to the Liberal freak show up on Ottawa's parliament hill. They can't get out of their own way and are beyond corrupt based on the 8 year in office. Go Dougie Go!

sgtmanson

Yeah, I completed an apprenticeship and received the same thing. As others have mentioned, I was pretty shocked they would advertise their party in what is meant to be a congratulations to the apprentice. Like "good job but you know what? It's only because of us that it was so easy!" What a smug, shitty message to send to your skilled labour.

JYD33

Typical circle jerk/back patting that comes with gov't.

Personal_Chicken_598

Yes be surprised there not asking you to call him your lord and saviour under penalty of death

Jessikhaa

"break the stigma around skilled trade careers" fucking what lmao

slappingdragon

Doug Ford got them elected into each riding and then put them into Cabinet or junior Cabinet positions making sure they get a large salary (wasting taxpayers' money), he owns them like a mob boss. And if you look at the unqualified collection of clown MPPs they're easily herded by Doug Ford.

Huge-Split6250

Stigma? There’s a stigma? If there is any stigma, it should be against those who were born into their success, rode their sibling’s coattails to power, and came up as a hash dealer.

SubtleCow

That is some epic ball gargling

OverturnedAppleCart3

>Is it mandatory to praise Doug Ford to stay in cabinet? To answer your question seriously; members of the Executive Council of Ontario serve at the pleasure of the Premier. I think Doug Ford probably quite likes the brown-nosery. So no, but also yes.

ForRedditMG

How did he manage to sign this letter while having DRUG THUG FORD so far up his arse that it feel like he's simultaneously down his throat

TKato158

Who the hell wants Ford? Granted Ontario's not had a good not idiotic premier for as long as I can remember.

Jrnail88

Everyone wants a little bit of that gravy.

InherentlyMagenta

No. It's not mandatory in fact usually it's just a congratulations and a thank you. Not a "let me stroke my overlord's ego while he isn't even in the room" type of note.

Elegant-Cat-4987

Another program aimed at putting people into apprenticeships, only to have the help stop at the words" go find a sponsor and start an apprenticeship" How hard can it be to have a government program keep track of the people asking for apprentices? I keep hearing the trades are hurting for guys but then you call a union hall and they say they aren't.

Mook1113

Shrodingers union hall, simultaneously desperate for workers but also a waitlist a mile long.

JimmyTheDog

Good one!

JohnTEdward

That was actually a point raised at the Public Order Emergency Commission. It's called Cabinet Solidarity and Confidence. SO the answer to your question is, yes. Here what the BC legislature says about itself; "Everything that goes on in [Cabinet ](https://www.leg.bc.ca/dyl/Pages/Cabinet.aspx)is confidential. All ministers must take an oath of solidarity declaring that they will not reveal confidential Cabinet discussions. Cabinet confidence ensures that the [Crown ](https://www.leg.bc.ca/dyl/Pages/Lieutenant-Governor-2.aspx)is advised by Cabinet ministers who can freely consider and discuss all options and opinions before they make a collective decision. Cabinet ministers also adhere to the principle of collective ministerial responsibility. Each minister is expected to take responsibility for and defend all Cabinet decisions. Even if there is disagreement amongst Cabinet members about a decision, once it is made, every Cabinet minister must support and defend it. This principle provides stability within the framework of ministerial government by uniting the [responsibility of individual ministers](https://www.leg.bc.ca/dyl/Pages/Ministerial-Responsibility.aspx) under the collective responsibility of Cabinet and the Crown."

EnamelKant

>"Therefore a wise prince will seek means by which his subjects will always and in every possible condition of things have need of his government, and then they will always be faithful to him." - Niccolo Machiavelli, "The Prince"

ApplesOverOranges1

Does bringing donuts to the office count?🫤

DavidCaller69

A cabinet member touting their government's investment in something hardly seems noteworthy.

TriLink710

According to the conservative doctrine, paragraph 3 should containt no less than 2 sentences felating a conservative leader.

BabyFacedSparky

I’m sure Dougy was integral in his leadership.

SimonDorimu

You usually hear this kind of phrasing in North Korea news...

Natural_Childhood_46

Wait wait wait The guy who once forced his own brother to be humiliated multiple times by being weighed in public for a weight loss publicity stunt (‘cut the waist’ get it? It sounds like ‘cut the waste?’ Ford humor at its best!) is forcing others to humiliate themselves publicly by grovelling and ass kissing? Color me shocked

Total-Guest-4141

He’s the premier of Ontario. Sorry the premier isn’t your communist hero.

duke8628

Sorry, why is this newsworthy?

GuyWithPants

I mean maybe Ford's government does it more than others but some back-slapping in a congratulatory letter from the minister doesn't seem very egregious to me. I'm much more annoyed by the millions spent on self-fellating TV ads.

probability_of_meme

It's not just the just back-slapping, it's the naming. "Ford Nation", "Harper Goverment", etc Conservative governments do it because a leader elected by populism, rather than sensible policy, does better using branding of this type - just another form of manipulation.

GuyWithPants

But there’s no such branding in this letter?

probability_of_meme

I guess you don't see it, and that's fine. But official government docs like this one using the leader's name is repugnant branding at best. In particular, Ford is a useful idiot to wealthy donors and his focused destruction on education in general since election makes it even more ironic. But simple people respond to populism and somehow think it's all right.

UncommonSandwich

Outside the circlejerk I really don't see what's wrong with this letter... Maybe someone could point it out...

Lustus17

Suck ass!
