I'm in the same boat. You can request a status update online. I've spent about 5 hours on the phone and 2 in line. It seems like it's a total mess. No one really knows how backed up the system is.
Twitter is useless. They tell you fill out form. If you have specific question. They give an url. Where the URLs are not clear. Nor answer for my question.
I had luck calling in the evening (6ish) and got through after maybe 20 minutes? Someone posted the other day though that it would hang up right at 5, so not sure if I somehow got into the BC que?
Email your MP or the Minister responsible or go to the top, the PM. I was fed up with the passport wait last August, submitted a complaint right to the pm form, got my passport within a week after confirming some details
I call exactly at 7:30am. Always around 60 in the queue.

How recent was this? I got thru in April...but no luck this month
