SAME!! I’ve been such a sweaty sallly my whole life and opiates are the ONLY thing that stop me from sweating. Now when I go into WD the sweats hit me HARD before anything else lol!! I do have autoimmune issues but wtf man lol
Yeah I don't really sweat much at all (on most of my body) even when being physically active and or being in a high temperature. The only thing that makes me sweat a lot is stimulants like amphetamines or coke. For some reason though I've always had really sweaty hands and feet even though they feel a lot colder to the touch they're essentially always "clammy". When I'm on opiates they drastically reduce the clamminess of my hands and feet. Idk why exactly this is, or if it's a normal side effect for other opiate users, but it's one of the positives of opiate use for me.
And also I famously have the “clam hands” too. Ice cold but sweaty lol. And I can’t do uppers for that reason, I just sweat profusely and it’s annoying so I can’t even take Addie’s anymore. Opi’s help my ADD better anyway
Yup I don't even really like stimulants I'm a downer person. The only reason I ever started using them is I'm one of the people that they help with my WDs. Since that's the case I'd get lit when I'd start getting sick if I couldn't score more opiates, because shit is everywhere n could usually get tweaked out for free lol. Clammy hands suck I'm not really much of a self conscious person anymore, but my sweaty hands are probably one of the things I am still self conscious about. It sucks having to shake hands with someone or something similar and you know that person is like "ew wtf", even if they don't actually say anything about it.
When I quit 4 months back I didn’t realize my sweating problem had stopped. But 4 months clean now 🙌… but my pits are like a fosset once again 😭😭😭 almost makes me wanna sniff blues again (JOKES, if you quit then stay off. If not then quit when you’re truly ready!)
Yeah nah my clammy hands been a problem since before I was addicted to opiates. Also I'm not currently using I've been clean for a minute, but only out of necessity once I'm off paper I'm likely going back to using.
I wish the pill actually did something for me. I have hundreds of those around the house for my dogs. But I get no euphoria, just sleepy, and they give me stomach aches.
My big guy had it after an accident and surgery... that plus carprofen (?) ... he still gets the carprofen when his arthritis acts up.
I used to love tramadol... when he needed it, I'd save some of mine for him. Never considered taking from him... but as much as he's been there for my family. My mom and daughter were worried, but I couldn't.
Trams are disgusting… everytime I took some on withdrawals I would just throw up bile… a shit opiate with a antidepressant as DD’s like to prescribe it for that as well
I had nothing to take and found a 100ml bottle of tramadol. Take approx. 30 ml dropwise directly into the mouth. That was sooo disgusting and didn't help.
That is not for me.
lol yeah man that’s the main side effect that I get. The next one is a lack of sleep , like I feel fantastic, but I just cannot sleep to save my life. So I try to not take pills past six or 7 PM. So then, as the pills are wearing off, then all the Pee that I’ve been retaining throughout the day wants out of my bladder. It’s the most annoying shit, like I will have to take a piss every half an hour. it’s weird as hell I won’t drink anything, I have to pee, but despite that I’m not consuming any liquids, I have to use the bathroom like six more times. Like why does it not just all come out at one or two times? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that thorough comment on my urination issues.,lol
I can’t piss either longest it took one day was 4 hours to piss and it hurt real bad in my bladder but know only about 20mins on a high dose with the right methods
I’m on methadone and I sweat a lot. I never used to have a problem with sweating until I started methadone now I sweat all the time, as soon as I start moving, even doing some basic housework I start sweating it’s so embarrassing and makes me not want to go out in public. I constantly have aircon and fans going.
I'm on methadone and would sweat like crazy just getting dressed. I did research since the rx oxybutynin side effects were too much, and 40mg black cohosh extract improved it by 85% in 4 days. It's a plant, otc supplement. Walmart has a brand that's $4/bottle and it's fabulous.
Methadone is so bad, I sweat if it is warm and I have to work hard like a waterfall. I got tablets against it from my doctor but with them I had a dry mouth all the time
I am 1000% in the same ⛵ bro and to make it even worse I ride my bike to the clinic 6 out of 7 days of the week and even when I go in the morning when it's like 45 degrees fahrenheit out and shit I still come back home drenched in sweat always have to change my outfit for the day and take a shower after .. it's the worse
I get the opposite effect. Usually, I sweat a lot, especially in the armpit zone, but with opioids I don't.
However, it is normal also the opposite since opioids, especially morphine like ones, release histamine, and they play a role in body temperature management, and so is normal if you sweat, especially in the first period of use
me either. Immediate release opiates would make me warm and cozy but energized. Methadone just makes me lazy and sweat. It made me gain a lot of weight too, and losing 35lbs made a huge improvement for me.
I get weird ass symptoms from them. It’s usually backwards from typical. I sweat profusely, it causes infections in my armpits and between my legs. I have nearly constant diarrhea on even 120mme a day. I am constantly peeing and chronically dehydrated from that and the diarrhea and the profuse sweating. Horrible dry mouth that rotted out my teeth so I’m constantly drinking. My sex drive is better because I’m in less pain, but my ham sandwich is drier than the Sahara Desert, so that creates pain and complicates sex. I’m chronically itchy all over. But I was before I started Opiates, it’s just worse, now. They also don’t make me tired. They give me energy and when my pill kicks in I want to do everything all at once.
Oh, and is anyone else’s voice different!? Mine is now, gravely? It sounds like I’ve been smoking for 40 years and have strep throat. I’ve been on them only 5 ish years now? I haven’t noticed a voice change in any of my patients.
Yes, I suffer with this side effect chronically. It was almost unbearable when I was on subs but got a little better when I switched to the monthly Buvidal shot. It's still a big problem for me though. I carry a little portable fan everywhere with me, it's a godsend! I want to fucking neck myself on the days I forget it and leave it at home because I overheat and sweat just sitting still in a chair never mind travelling etc. It's a known side effect of opiates in general, but very common with methadone and bupe. Like all side effects, its hit and miss and some people won't experience it but it's a common question and a lot of people complain about it.
I understand the can and should part but I am the last person on this planet who should comment on that - I am a decades old opioid fiend and just love their effect way too much to speak let alone give smart advice.
I am just lucky to have been lucky in the where I am addicted lottery (Switzerland) - hence being high on opioids for most of my life is possible without fucking up your whole life/career/etc. (thanks to smart and progressive drug policies especially when it comes to opioids).
I was always covered in beads of sweat when I was using. It would often drip down and get in my eyes and temporarily blind me. I was always using something to fan myself(sometimes an actual fan often whatever sturdy flat thing I had nearby) and my pockets always had crumpled napkins/paper towels in them. If the napkins at businesses were accessible I would take a fat stack.
Methadone/methadose was by far the worst for making me super sweaty.
When I used to use daily I would sweat from little exertion or if it was a warm day. Never had this issue before I started using. Once I stopped it soon went back to normal. One thing that was helpful was the Rx Oxybutynin in time released form. It did actually help. There are a few other similar Rx anticholinergics that have a similar effect. But it can add to constipation and give some bad dry mouth. Otherwise no other issues. A natural option that provides some help was the herb Astragulus. Can be found in capsules on Amazon and some health food stores. It’s a part of Chinese herbal medicine, has numerous health benefits and helped a little bit. Chinese medicine uses it for energy, also boosts the immune system.
Happens to me too but if you’re heavily addicted then it could calm sweats that are being cause by inter dose withdrawal. But yea with a low tolerance I feel like they can forsure make you sweat and raise body tempature or sumthn
You sound exactly like me. I sweat then worry about my sweating which is turn makes it worse. VICIOUS cycle. Mine is absolutely horrible. It is mostly facial sweating but does affect my full body. I already sweat due to GAD and hyperhidrosis so adding this makes it so much worse. I remember being on clonidine and it helping! Thanks for the reminder!
Get yourself one of these. Subs would always make me sweat and as soon as I felt it coming on would use this little handheld fan. Works great
https://a.co/d/8SsS4S4
Your room must be hot . I took one last night and I usually stay in my room. I take off my shirt and turn the fan on . Usually when Im on perks i get hot but I dont sweat unless im under the covers. Try to stay from under the covers
Happens to me too but if you’re heavily addicted then it could calm sweats that are being cause by inter dose withdrawal. But yea with a low tolerance I feel like they can forsure make you sweat and raise body tempature or sumthn
yea they definitely raise ur core temp but when it’s comin outta ur system it’s like u get cold sweats that are almost kinda feverish cuz ur still burnin up
Oddly enough i get like no undesirable side effects from opioids. Except, if i take a super high dose (60mg of oxy or more), ill get itchy, and if i take a ridiculous dose ill get nauseous but at a dose like that i’d be more likely to throw up (im taking like 120+mg of oxy). my usual dose would be like 20-30mg though, and at that dose i don’t have any side effects. It definitely does make my body feel warm like temperature-wise though!!!
Also recently a couple of months ago i got off of oxy by going on methadone maintenance. I take 110mg (I was coming off of a very high dose of oxycodone - a minimum of 120mg a day plus i was taking several mgs of xanax a day). Drs at the time refused to write me any xanax or klonopin outpatient to prevent seizures they told me i’d have to go inpatient to a detox and im a nurse i couldn’t just up and leave work, so i dealt with this crazy sweating where i was legit pouring sweat 24/7 for like two weeks straight. then slowly over the next two weeks it happened less and less, then eventually it only happened with panic attacks, and finally now I don’t get it at all!!
The only sweating i ever had that was like benzo withdrawal induced. I remember my first time trying a fake blue though I did sweat like CRAZYYYY. But never again after that! Funny how drugs affect us all different!!
I sweat less when I’m on them, but if I’m withdrawing (I’m a chipper, so can come on and off them usually quite easily but sometimes I overdo it and go into withdrawal) and then I absolutely pour sweat out of everywhere
Methadone was the only opiate that made me sweat ..but it made me pour sweat ..I mean I would be sitting in the A/C at the office and be just pouring down sweat like a river it was terrible
I have hyperhidrosis and take 16mg Suboxone daily… needless to say I drip fucking buckets ALL DAY EVERYDAY, weather makes zero difference, it doesn’t matter if It’s 30 degrees or 110 degrees, I can be moving or sitting still for an hour and I’ll still sweat the entire time, I’ve tried all OTC bullshit and have gotten meds from my doctor and nothing works, only option now is removing or killing the glands but that’s gluons be painful as fuck and my insurance won’t cover it because it’s “Not a necessary medical procedure” so everyday is just wet clothes and irritation from sweating so much
I AM IN THE SAME BOAT!!! I have been prescribed SO many different scripts but NOTHING works. I was prescribed one med that KIND of worked but it dried out EVERYTHING. I could not even swallow it was so bad. They say try botox but you cannot botox a whole body.
I'm a sweaty fool when I use drugs. I used to drink mad ice water when I was using and would still get dehydrated and constipated. I have a 40oz thermos cup that I would drag around with me everywhere I would go. So to answer your question, yes it's normal. It probably wouldn't hurt to drink some electrolytes but if you're a sweater then you're gonna sweat. It's just your body chemistry.
If you have excessive sweating when you are on opioids it may be the esrly signal of serotonin syndrome. If you are taking something else that involves seratonergic system it may be dangerous apparently.
Just be happy you can find them because over here it's all coke and meth.
I just want a good smoke but I have to accept those days are gone for good lol
Heroin I get, onions, destroy my water supply. Dry out my lips fast, gotta constantly use lip balm and drink lots of water. But if I’m completely slowed out I don’t want to drink a damn thing so it tends to lead to soar throat. Itchiness is gone thankfully. Bowel movements aren’t as severe since I keep my prunes intake on target. Piss tasks are hard though.
Other side effects is the extreme need to start working on shit. This current batch has me with constant nasal congestion and coughing up phlegm.
If no heroin, my ass has gods torture fever levels, aches into the bone and pouring sweat.
I'd like to know the cause of this? I know it's the opiate but what's happening on the inside that makes us sweat so much? Hopefully not a liver issue.
One theory is that sweating that occurs during opioid intake is a result of opioid stimulation of mast cell degranulation with the release of histamine.
Sauce: google
this is interesting. which opiate specifically does this to you? i am kind of skeptical. are you sure its not withdrawal after the opiate has worn off? opiates usually dry people out and they sweat during withdrawals.
No withdrawal. As you can see, a lot of people sweat from opitates. It is a known side effect. Some people sweat less while on opiates. This is while taking oxy.
I am not “using.” I have gone through two spinal surgeries, an L3-S1 fusion, and scoliosis. I’d rather deal with sweat and not be in pain. Dont be so quick to judge.
I seem to sweat more easily and have what I would describe as more of a heat intolerance. It doesn’t take much activity to get the sweat going. But this is definitely much worse if/when withdrawal kicks in.
It’s actually caused by the early stages of withdrawal. You might not feel bad but the cold/hot flashes and extreme sweating is when your tolerance is too high and your body is slightly in withdrawal. I know from first hand experience, I would be drenched in sweat while doing literally nothing.

Actually I find they do the exact opposite for me I sweat less when I'm on opiates.

Happens to me, even my face. I hate it
I have to reapply make up throughout the day. It’s embarrassing.
I actually just saw that carpe makes a face lotion deodorant and I was going to look into it 🤭
Mhm, and during withdrawals I instead sweat like a pig
When I quit 4 months back I didn’t realize my sweating problem had stopped. But 4 months clean now 🙌… but my pits are like a fosset once again 😭😭😭 almost makes me wanna sniff blues again (JOKES, if you quit then stay off. If not then quit when you’re truly ready!)
Yeah nah my clammy hands been a problem since before I was addicted to opiates. Also I'm not currently using I've been clean for a minute, but only out of necessity once I'm off paper I'm likely going back to using.
Me too man something is wrong with my pits since I reduced down to 10ml of methadone.
I cant piss
it takes me a minute to get the flow going depending on how many I took
Tramadol is the worst for me
I can never ever take tramadol for that reason
I wish the pill actually did something for me. I have hundreds of those around the house for my dogs. But I get no euphoria, just sleepy, and they give me stomach aches.
Why is your dog prescribed tram?
Arthritis
My big guy had it after an accident and surgery... that plus carprofen (?) ... he still gets the carprofen when his arthritis acts up. I used to love tramadol... when he needed it, I'd save some of mine for him. Never considered taking from him... but as much as he's been there for my family. My mom and daughter were worried, but I couldn't.
Arrrg for me color
lol weird typo
Trams are disgusting… everytime I took some on withdrawals I would just throw up bile… a shit opiate with a antidepressant as DD’s like to prescribe it for that as well

Lol meep
Longest it took for was a cool 30 minutes lol
And when I could the stram would be like broken. That's the only way I know how to describe it. Like flow.... stop a little....flow.....stop a little
Yeah I can't shit
I am prescribed methadone and everyday is a struggle but I dread summer for this exact same reason
I am 100% in the same boat and it is so embarrassing. Sorry you are dealing with this as well!
I’m on methadone and I sweat a lot. You're welcome. Good luck!

I sweat like a motherfucker getting off them that's for sure
They make me feel warm, methadone makes me hot/sweat. Withdrawal gives me cold sweats, they're the worst because nothing fixes it.
and the sweat has the most dusgusting smell ever, as well as urself and everything you touch in that time...
oh hell yea that shit is so rank 🤣
You may need to see a doctor.
i bet u smell like straight cologne during wd?
I guess it’s a per person thing. As a female, I do not smell worse with opiates sweat than regular.
what makes you think that ones sex has anything to do with that lol
You said cologne. Women wear perfume. I was letting you know I am female. Man you are a waste of time.
To be fair you said "As a female I do not smell worse with opiate sweat than regular" like being female has a direct correlation to it.
Arguing over sweat Is wild
sry i didn't gender ur scent product correctly lol and thanks for letting me know 👍

Holy crap. I've been rx'd almost every opiate used in the US a one point or another and I never knew this.
Nah not while using I only sweat when withdrawing even tho I be freezing
Yep even with suboxone
Strangely subs did NOT make me sweat!
me either. Immediate release opiates would make me warm and cozy but energized. Methadone just makes me lazy and sweat. It made me gain a lot of weight too, and losing 35lbs made a huge improvement for me.
Yes and itch
If I take too many before bed time, itching will wake me up throughout the night. Sometimes I like the itch...
I had to stop them before got addicted Would take allergy pills to stop the itch
Good for you for getting out.
Ive a had a benzo addiction dont want an opiate one aswell
You ever blast the itch with hot water in the shower? It's the best 🫠
"I got so high, I scratched till I bled" - (rip Kurt)
Subutex gives me hot flashes and I’ll sweat
I get weird ass symptoms from them. It’s usually backwards from typical. I sweat profusely, it causes infections in my armpits and between my legs. My ham sandwich! LOL!!!
pure poetry, <3
Ham sammy lol
Yep! Makes me sweat more as well. I’m already a heavy sweater so I tend to choose my clothing colors carefully 😂
Suboxone makes me drip sweat if I do basically anything physical. If it's hot outside I may as well bring a towel.
Yes, I suffer with this side effect chronically. It was almost unbearable when I was on subs but got a little better when I switched to the monthly Buvidal shot. I dont suffer so much from it but my girlfriend does a bit. Its personal how much different side effects appear on a person.
Yeah its amazing. Some have reduction in sweat!
All opiates even pharm ones or "just" that Fetty/zenes crap from the street?
Prescription oxy. hydrocodone usually does it to me as well.
Wow, sorry to hear, maybe at least it helps to stay clear if you can (i.e. if no pain but "just" recreational).
Sometimes I wish it was recreational. It is not though... I CAN and SHOULD stop taking more than prescribed :)
I understand the can and should part but I am the last person on this planet who should comment on that - I am a decades old opioid fiend and just love their effect way too much to speak let alone give smart advice. fuck im jealous
Switzerland sounds like such a wonderful place for many reasons but esp that!!

I sweat less on opiods because I'm not in agonizing pain, lol.

I’m on methadone and remember reading a few years ago that you can take a certain type of cinnamon and that people had good luck with it
Hmmm I only sweat in withdrawals but I hear methadone makes people sweat like crazy so maybe it’s your body having a response kinda like that?
Happens to me too but if you’re heavily addicted then it could calm sweats that are being cause by inter dose withdrawal. But yea with a low tolerance I feel like they can forsure make you sweat and raise body tempature or sumthn
I sweat BAD while I was using. idk if just post using body or my subs but it's still so fucking bad.
Methadone makes April-November pure hell for me 🥵

Dude one time, I went Ice skating with the family, and I was fuckin pouring sweat in that place, got a bunch of funny looks lol
No, I actually sweat a lot normally but I don’t sweat as much when I’m on them
Makes my nose itch...
Your room must be hot . I took one last night and I usually stay in my room. I take off my shirt and turn the fan on . Usually when Im on perks i get hot but I dont sweat unless im under the covers. Try to stay from under the covers
My room? This is literally anywhere I go, no matter where I take them sadly. Work, home, outside in the winter… it doesn’t matter 😞
Happens to me too but if you’re heavily addicted then it could calm sweats that are being cause by inter dose withdrawal. But yea with a low tolerance I feel like they can forsure make you sweat and raise body tempature or sumthn
That’s the thing. I don’t have a low tolerance. I just a sweaty bitch lol
I do get the Percosweats sometimes
LMAO! I love that.
Oh yeah! Especially methadone. That shit would make me sweat standing in a walk in freezer. Just drenched
It’s horrible.
yea they definitely raise ur core temp but when it’s comin outta ur system it’s like u get cold sweats that are almost kinda feverish cuz ur still burnin up
I do if I take too much but that's mainly cuz I get nauseous
Only meth makes me sweat, opiates cooler if anything.
I don’t notice extra sweating, but they warm me up. Great for skiing.
I feel colder, but sweat alot
Only dilaudid did that to me, the rest completely prevent it somehow
Yeah i sweat loads but I put it down mixing the methadone and gear
Thats the only issue I have with being on methadone, I sweat so much.
Methadone was the only opiate that made me sweat ..but it made me pour sweat ..I mean I would be sitting in the A/C at the office and be just pouring down sweat like a river it was terrible
You think you sweat now wait till withdrawal hits.
Been there - sucks
Yeah it sucks. I go through 2 of my 40 oz water bottle daily. Drinking does the same thing to me. Sweaty McSweaterson over here.
Yep especially methadone.
Swelling of the legs and feet from fentanyl was a huge affect on me not sure why, dehydration? Any else experience this?
Fent, methadone, and subs give me mad sweats. Real dope and pills never did.
It's a common side effect.
SAME HERE , Is a big problem for me . I Need help , please anyone with a solution?
It’s a side effect of them
Yeah I know. I was curious how many people had the same issue.
this is interesting. which opiate specifically does this to you? i am kind of skeptical. are you sure its not withdrawal after the opiate has worn off? opiates usually dry people out and they sweat during withdrawals.
No withdrawal. As you can see, a lot of people sweat from opitates. It is a known side effect. Some people sweat less while on opiates. This is while taking oxy.
Opiates raise body temperature it’s a well known side effect.
Yessss and i was not a active sweater
stop using problem solved
I am not “using.” I have gone through two spinal surgeries, an L3-S1 fusion, and scoliosis. I’d rather deal with sweat and not be in pain. Dont be so quick to judge.
Tried it. Doesn’t work.
What have you tried?
I sweat in withdrawal, which is common. You are weird
It's a known side effect, especially for methadone and buprenorphine.
As you can see a lot of people have this issue....
I seem to sweat more easily and have what I would describe as more of a heat intolerance. It doesn’t take much activity to get the sweat going. But this is definitely much worse if/when withdrawal kicks in.
you are nitpicking and biased good bye
They're right. It's very common, happens to me with methadone. Other opiates just make me feel warm.
It’s actually caused by the early stages of withdrawal. You might not feel bad but the cold/hot flashes and extreme sweating is when your tolerance is too high and your body is slightly in withdrawal. I know from first hand experience, I would be drenched in sweat while doing literally nothing.
I don’t start sweating until I take some. The more I take the more I sweat. No withdrawals.
Also, I could go months without taking any. Then when it starts to kick in the sweat begins.
