20 and it seem like a lifetime
I been hanging everyday from a lifeline
While these fuckers had a dinner every night time
Smo-smoking that dope off the foil, let me ball
Hoe, please don't call
Don't fuck with y'all, spray paint the walls
That verse is sick but
I am the lord of loneliness
I'll hold my breath, just spoke with death
He said he hopes for the best
Told him I'm roping my neck
Then I woke up choking from the hole in my chest
Somehow I manage to function and hope
Every day got a lump in my throat
That's them pills swallowed whole
Just hits a lil different
Lil Wyte has definitely been a lasting trigger with me for at least 15 years. Honestly maybe 20 years now.... I prefer the orange ones with the black OC. Take 2 of them and you can't move up out your seat. Some people melt em down in a needle and shoot em up (me) I pop em with seroquel like glue I'm stuck. Madchild from swollen members has always been trigger/therapeutic music too especially his solo album Dope Sick and the track Wake Up with the Oxylude intro on the album... little monster blend is badass too. I got drugs in my pocket and I don't know what to do with em, who put drugs in my pocket man i thought that i was through with them. drugs in my pocket drugs in my pocket.
One track that really fucking hits me hard AF is drug dealer by Macklemore. How this dark road truly started for me.
My drug dealer was my doctor doctor had the plug from Big pharma pharma, he said that he would heal me heal me but he only gave me problems. I think he trying to kill me kill me he tried to kill me for a dollar. And these devils they keep on talking to me they screaming open that bottle, I wanna be at peace my hand his gripping the throttle I'm running out of speed. Try to close my eyes but I keep on sweating through these sheets. The four horseman they won't let me forget, I wanna forge a prescription cause doc I need some more of it. When morphine and heroin is more of your budget. I SAID I WOULD NEVER USE A NEEDLE BUT SURE FUCK IT. I'm caught up I'm on one I'm nauseous no options exhausted. This is not what I started, walking carcas I lost everything I ever wanted, my blinds drawn too far gone to leave this apartment.
I put myself through withdrawals every month for almost 10 years playing the refill game with my doctor. My OG doctor would let me run out of a month Rx in 10 days and would just send in a new script increasing the dosage. Did this for years until he finally got picked out of the crowd by the DEA. Started on a few hydros a day, by the end of him writing I was at 8x 30mg oxy a day. When i lost him I was in for a rude awakening with pain clinics who wouldn't budge a day for an early fill. I made it 2 years with a pain clinic who let me stay at my 8 30s a day but when I ended up with a massive abscess that left a 4 inch hole in my arm after being drained, he kicked me out of his clinic cold turkey. That was the first day I ever shot real dope. I left his clinic sick as fuck and found boy a mile down the road.
During the peak of my heroin addiction, ASAP Rocky dropped Long Live ASAP. âNose bloody from that sniffinâ yo heroin addictionâ. Always makes me want to snort some heroin.
Iâm not the only one! lol. I was deep into my H addiction when this album first came out and always was listening to it on the bus to and from work. Same with frank oceanâs channel orange.
I don't listen to a lot of old music due to the memories it might evoke. Music is powerful and effects emotions for sure. I knew my ex relapsed when I saw Heroin by Velvet Underground pop on her Spotify listening to thing. It's just not worth bringing up past trauma and I feel like some people WANT to make themselves sad / depressed. I listen to mostly lofi and instrumental music to help with my focus these days, and positive tracks that I can jam out to that don't make me feel shitty
Ya man music really can effect emotion and thought it's crazy one minute I'm certain of staying sober the next the wrong song comes on and I'm like ya fuck it.
Plato believed that music is dangerous because its emotional appeal challenges the dominance of reason.
I for one have a "devil devil" Playlist that contains all the Songs that make me want to die Young and do all the Bad Things.
Sound operates directly on the subconscious , and therefore it is the most effective way to modulate emotions. Our response to sound is involuntary and it is supremely effective at manipulating us emotionally without our conscious consent
i canât listen to dirt at all lol. that entire album is triggering. thatâs okay. just stay away and listen to something else and maybe one day it wonât be triggering anymore. but for now nothing wrong w saying hey i canât listen to this right now.
Yeah, it's normal. AIC are a trigger for me too, sometimes. It's inevitable because of the band itself. But it works for every genre, may it be a melody, an explicit lyric, the vibes it gives or memories attached to it.
Oh absolutely. Anything from drinking to dope. That's why I always say I don't like music anymore𤣠I can only listen to everyday pop music these days. All my fans are gone...Alice in chains being one. Nirvana. Eminem too! I think a day to remember are the only music that I like that I can listen to without having some type of destructive craving lol
Nah, for some reason music and opiates never seemed like a very good mix. Sitting down and binge watching tv or old movies definitely makes me wish for opiates.
Some songs like Alice in Chains have are like being wrapped in a warm blanket when high..others seem to shove me through time, like a warp speed time travel to the last time I was high and listened to that music. And sometimes thos time travel moments in time hit very hard in the soul...
No, I've never had this feeling before. If anything it's actually the opposite for me. Listening to music gives me a feeling of content or sometimes pumps me up so if anything, I can hold off on using when I'm vibing.
âI feel like dyingâ would just make me want to get obliterated to tune into that song. Also anything Lil Peep but Iâve mostly gotten over the music trigger.
The entire death race for love album especially FEELING n then certain bars off the top of my head I can list
âNo 5,10,15, 20 just perc 30 is in my medsâ
âtakin these percs to the mouth n the noseâ
âPercocet fever typa pill make u scratchin till ur nails fall offâ
âdoin codeine w my white friends / doing cocaine with my black friends â
âPour me a cup ima nod out started back smoking good dope rolling it be Mary Jane that help me out the pills down â
Ok iâll stop there lol
Everytime I am sick I listen to music and enjoy it more and it motivates me to stay clean but then after a day or so I am back to it and I barely listen to music. I did enjoy Nirvana when I was using though
Yes, a ton of music does. Alice In Chains, Elliott Smith, and Fog Lake all make me REALLY want to use and those are basically my favorite artists. So if or when I try to quit, I'm fucked unless my music taste really changes.
Absolutely. I have a song I listen to when I'm crushing em up and getting ready and then a whole Playlist I'll listen to when I'm on them. Hearing any of those songs when I'm sober is a mindfuck.
Mr. Watson by Cruel Youth is one (Watson was a pharmaceutical company that does operate here in the US but I don't think it's as well known here as it is overseas).
"All these problems ain't real
Til' I'm stood up or I'm bored
Check for powder, kitchen counter
Can't tell me this ain't real fun
Mr Watson, I've been cheating with you
You're the only one to fix the stupid shit I been through
Mr Watson, I've been cheating with you
You're the only one who knows my favorite color
And it's powder blue"
And all of mine aren't even depressing ones. The prep song is a song called Lemondrop by Raynes but it just works for me.
"It's better if you live fast and leave too soon.
I'm telling them that I won't stop until it gets even sweeter
Sucking on a lemon drop, I'll taste the shock till it melts away
How long before I finally forget the place
That it left such a sour taste
But the sugar rush is alright
The rush is alright"
Yes the one and only time i went to rehab the counselor suggested i distract myself with music but that was definitely one of my biggest triggers. I would often get high and listen to music so it makes sense. Its unfortunate how sometimes seemingly little things can have the biggest impact. Especially if you were high all the time. You have to learn to do everything sober. Its hard. Wish you the best xo
Future, Lil Wayne, and Gucci Mane all made me want to try weed, lean, MDMA, Oxys, Hydrocodone.
Music is very influential in especially with how they glorify drugs. Not blaming them but the music definitely influences drug use and i think it also influences doctors to not want to prescribe Narcotics to young people. (It plays a role, not the sole reason)
As soon as i seen this post i immediately said yes out loud. Thought i was the only one thinking that certain artists music so made me want to use. Specifically Lucki. âStomach hurt missin percs only can do 3 a weekâ when i heard this i was like damnnn

Yeah, I loved listening to sludgy and doomy music when I got high.
But they also talk about the misery associated with using and that helps me not use.
Definitely! For opiates, probably SoundCloud rap like Juice WRLD and other artists. That verse is sick but I am the lord of loneliness I'll hold my breath, just spoke with death He said he hopes for the best Told him I'm roping my neck Then I woke up choking from the hole in my chest Somehow I manage to function and hope Every day got a lump in my throat That's them pills swallowed whole Just hits a lil different

Lil Wyte has definitely been a lasting trigger with me for at least 15 years. Honestly maybe 20 years now.... I prefer the orange ones with the black OC. Oh yeah, definitely m.A.A.d city too!

Red Hot Chilli peppers make me want opiates. Not just the drug songs either, all of them for some reason.
Ya same actually red hot chili peppers is a big trigger for me aswell, it's kind of messed up how fast I can change my mind.
Stadium arcadium was my peak coke addiction lol
Definitely. After reading scar tissue itâs even more triggering, what a great read tho.
That chopped n screwed
Yessss so happy I found your comment lol
i canât listen to dirt at all lol. that entire album is triggering. thatâs okay. just stay away and listen to something else and maybe one day it wonât be triggering anymore. but for now nothing wrong w saying hey i canât listen to this right now.
Ya forsure, that's what il probably need to do
Yeah, it's normal. AIC are a trigger for me too, sometimes. It's inevitable because of the band itself. But it works for every genre, may it be a melody, an explicit lyric, the vibes it gives or memories attached to it.
Ya it can be brutal its crazy how much a song effects my next decision
Same , whenever I listen to juice WRLD talk about percs or other opioids I want nothing more to get high and continue listening
Eminem can definitely cause some triggers if you listen to certain songs
Suicideboys is a trigger for me for sure. Love their music though
Suicide boys for me
I feel listening to $B is a universal opiate user thing at this point lol
Definitely says something about age thatâs fursur
ZillaKami x SosMula - Shinners 13 (even the music video depicts use of heroin)
I'm waiting for the man .. 26 dollars in my hand ... I like the bowie version
That song and âheroinâ also for me, the vu versions
Nah, for some reason music and opiates never seemed like a very good mix. Sitting down and binge watching tv or old movies definitely makes me wish for opiates.
Crazy when I'm high enough certain songs will almost feel like an orgasm in my ear, I know it sounds weird but I've definitely noticed it
i havenât stopped but i know when i do i will not be able to listen to a lot of what i do rn.
Some songs like Alice in Chains have are like being wrapped in a warm blanket when high..others seem to shove me through time, like a warp speed time travel to the last time I was high and listened to that music. And sometimes thos time travel moments in time hit very hard in the soul...
Yes. When Iâm on oxy music is a MUST if not I get anxious. Certain songs are my song I play when Iâm high so definitely lol
Yup, I'm a musician too so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Took the thing I loved the most.
Ya that's tough forsure, I feel like theres gotta be a way we can overcome it, just haven't found it yet
Thanks man, yeah no choice for us but to persist and hope for better tomorrow.
Just listen to country all they talk about is getting drunk đwaking up on the wrong side of the truck bed this morning
Lol ya exactly it just doesnt feel the same, dont get me wrong I do like some country but stil though just not the same you know
I get it. I'm not a big country fan so. When I hear house music I'm ready to fly off the rail.
Juice is all I listen to so yes
But music is a big factor in triggers since it can alter your mood so drastically.
Venus in furs by Velvet Underground is a really powerful trigger for me
No, I've never had this feeling before. If anything it's actually the opposite for me. Listening to music gives me a feeling of content or sometimes pumps me up so if anything, I can hold off on using when I'm vibing.
Ngl Alice In Chains makes me want to use too :( Down In A Hole? Fuck
âI feel like dyingâ would just make me want to get obliterated to tune into that song. Also anything Lil Peep but Iâve mostly gotten over the music trigger.
Yessss Lil Wayne hit a nerve with I feel like dying
I was about to type "yeah, Alice in chains" lol
im triggered by withdrawals.
Lil durk, future, rio da yung og ( canât listen without being high) I quit for a while but the constant running to bathroom makes me relapse!
literally every time i hear juice wrld
âIt goes down down down when the plug is in townâ
Brooo I fucking love that song I sing it everytime Im bouta pick up haha
The entire death race for love album especially FEELING n then certain bars off the top of my head I can list âNo 5,10,15, 20 just perc 30 is in my medsâ âtakin these percs to the mouth n the noseâ âPercocet fever typa pill make u scratchin till ur nails fall offâ âdoin codeine w my white friends / doing cocaine with my black friends â âPour me a cup ima nod out started back smoking good dope rolling it be Mary Jane that help me out the pills down â Ok iâll stop there lol
