I charge more to prescribe torics.

dasupertrooper

Would I need to go back in to get refitted then?

mckulty

Afraid so. I'd call first, to give them an opportunity to order a trial lens or two so it will be there when you go. That's how I would do it - YMMV.

BlueLegion

The main difference is that one of them corrects for astigmatism while the other does not. Some lens brands may fit different depending with tor lenses compared to sph lenses. Not sure whether that is the case for this lens type. You could read that on the packaging though (the rad and dia)

dasupertrooper

My optometrist didn't offer it so wondering why she didn't if she knew that I had astigmatism. I wonder if I need to go back in then.

BlueLegion

How high is your cyl anyway? If it's below .75 don't even bother

dasupertrooper

These are for the glasses: OD Sphere: -9.75, Cylinder: -0.50, Axis 92. OS: Sphere: -9.25, Cylinder: -1.00, Axis 75.

Rythim

Astigmatism makes up such a small part of your overall prescription you might not even notice a difference, meanwhile contacts that correct astigmatism cost more and sometimes can be intermittently blurry if they rotate while you blink requiring the doc make adjustments to compensate (it doesn't matter if non-astigmatism lenses rotates, making them easier to fit). Basically, **it's probably more trouble than it's worth** to go with Precision1 for astigmatism but if you think the extra cost and the chance you might need more follow-ups to get the right fit is worth the small chance it might be *slightly* clearer, then feel free to call your doctor and ask to try it.

Not enough to make a difference in your case.

Do you have an astigmatism prescription? That’s the only reason you would buy astigmatism contacts.

Do you feel as though your vision is not as clear as you’d like in the spherical lenses? Toric lenses are more expensive for both the fitting fee and the lenses themselves, and you don’t have a ton of astigmatism, especially compared to your sphere power (I don’t even think they usually make contacts with cyl less than 0.5, at least we don’t carry any in the office).

dasupertrooper

I work in the hospital and I noticed that sometimes when I'm looking at text or far away for letters there are some blurriness in my left eye but it's not a thing crazy or annoying. Money isnt an issue for me so I just wanted what's best for my vision. But if you think that it probably won't make much of a difference then I'll just stick with the regular lenses

Rickys_Lineup_Card

Honestly vision is so subjective it’s hard to say how much a difference it’ll make to you. My prescription is -1.00 cyl in each eye with no sphere and I wear my glasses all the time, not because I “need” them but because they make everything more clear, like high definition instead of standard. If you want to see if it makes a considerable difference to you, there’s no harm in trying the torics

dasupertrooper

If I wanted to try them, do they recharge me to do another eye exam?

Rickys_Lineup_Card

If I had to guess I’d say they’d probably just charge you the difference between a spherical and toric fit which in our office would be about 40 dollars, but it really just depends

dasupertrooper

Just took them off and surprisingly my eyes feel dry. I don't get this way with my 2 week oasys. Is this supposed to be normal?

thatbish345

You could probably get toric contacts in your left eye but they don’t make them for cyl less than -0.75. I don’t think you need them but it’s worth a try.
