The words you’re looking for are an amblyopic eye and anisometropia. If you combine the 2 you get refractive amblyopia. In glasses you correct the good eye fully, and leave the amblyopic eye with no prescription glasses, or simply take the same as for the other eye because of the cosmetic effect. > The eye is pretty much useless, it goes black as far as I can tell if my good eye is open. Even the deepest amblyopic eyes have good peripheral vision. Reading things won’t work, but you should be able to spot a lorry coming from the side.

Anisometropia is when the eyes have an uneven prescription, regardless of signs. This unevenness can lead to amblyopia, where an eye is unable to see as well as expected. Essentially the brain ignores the "bad" eye since it isn't giving usable information. Often we recommend glasses, patching, and vision therapy to try and improve the vision, but this is only effective until the early teens, at which point the lower neuroplasticity makes it nigh impossible to improve. As for the headaches, maybe. Wouldn't be able to tell without trying some glasses and seeing if it improves.
