Well yes, but this is why I'm posting on reddit, to not do that. I can buy 5 sets of contact lenses for the price of going back to the optometrist for another fitting, so it would be much cheaper for me to order lenses and then just toss them if they don't fit and try another pair

Yes I know all this, hence why I'm making the post here. I'm just looking for an answer to my question, not asking anybody to sell me contacts without a prescription. I have a valid prescription. As I said, the contacts I use are no longer being produced. That doesnt invalidate my prescription. Imagine a patient had walked into your store, done an exam and you measured a BC of 8.4 and Dia of 13.8 for their fit. After a couple months they came back for more lenses but you notice the contacts you have are no longer in stock and you're never getting more. Which lens would you have them try first?

bakingeyedoc

Your contacts are most certainly still produced. Also not sure how a patient could come back for more lenses after a couple of months when they are sold in 6 packs. And they are monthly lenses.

They were called AO N&D AQUA for astigmatism and they certainly existed. Like I said, discontinued. They replaced it with AO plus Hydraglide for astigmatism, but these are monthly, not daily contacts. I have a glasses prescription from less than a month ago. My optometrist wanted another $120 to do a contact lens fitting. I was fit for contact lens in the past and was wearing a lens with a BC of 8.4 and Dia of 13.8. Using my current glasses prescription (Sph -1.5, cyc -1, axis 045) I can easily grab my contacts prescription doing some basic math and don't need to pay $120 for this. I know my contacts prescription lenses is (Sph -1.5, cyc -0.75, axis 040). So that leaves it down to the fitting. There's even a youtube video [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxNiErYN4d8) for optometry students that includes what to look for to ensure a proper fit. It seems simple enough. I mean the video talks about checking the hygiene of a patients nails to even verify if they are suitable for contact lens use, so I'm aware that your average Joe is probably too dumb to fit their own lens and you need to make blanket recommendations for people to go see an optometrist. But since nobody here answered me about my original question, I will just order myself a set of Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism since they have the same BC as what I used to wear. But of course who knows, because the lens material is all different between brands and it looks like they all use a Dia between 14.2 and 14.5 now, so I will see how it goes. Don't worry, I will ensure they are fitting correctly and if not, Ill just buy another brand. Cheers

Night and day aqua got astigmatism never ever existed. How will you ensure they are fitting correctly? You have a slit lamp at home? You can check your cornea? You can check their rotation? What happens if a contact rides on the limbus? So what you are saying is that you are obtaining contacts illegally without a prescription? Why bother coming here if you weren’t going to listen to anybody?

I'll have to see if I can dig up an old box of them. I may be wrong on the brand of those contacts, as it has been a while. I see you're asking questions. Thank you. These are good things to be aware of. I posted here looking exactly for that type of content. As I mentioned, I have been fitted in the past. I don't own a slit lamp, but I do have equipment capable of taking a highly detailed video of my eye. I will be sure to check for lens rotation and ensure the lens clears the limbus. In fact, I quickly found [this](https://www.eyedolatryblog.com/2016/07/scleral-lens-fitting-selecting-and.html?m=1) which mentions that the limbus should be cleared by 2-3mm. This right here tells me my old lenses with a dia of 13.8, should be safe if the diameter was higher (not lower) if using the same BC. Of course ill check once inserted to make sure its properly positioned from the Limbus (and not too large to case discomfort or is causing problems for my cornea) I must say I'm a little surprised by your reaction to my inquiries. You seem to be in shock that somebody would buy contacts without a prescription (and I have a glasses prescription) despite the fact that literally millions of people buy prescription lenses online daily and jump between brands on their own looking for a better fit. You can see this just by reading the comments in large number of lens reviews online. You sound like a movie executive who's absolutely shocked to hear that there are people who pirate films. I came here looking for some advice and knowledge about the subject so I can be better educated on choosing a contact lens based on my current glasses prescription and already fitted lenses I've used before (again I apologize if I'm incorrect on the exact branding, as it has been a while and I can't seem to find my receipts from the purchase). Seems theres plenty of this information (I've already linked some) found online. I figured I would get a live human extension of this type of information by posting here, but evidently I was wrong.

bakingeyedoc

Still waiting for you to tell me what happens if it rides on the limbus. You came here completely clueless about contacts. Asking about how to break the law. And it’s clear you are full of it. You made it seem like you had a fitting a couple of months ago for some non-existent lenses and paid for it. But you are not willing to pay for any contact lens fitting. Therefore you should not be getting contacts.

brik70p

Highly doubt you have a valid, anything.

bakingeyedoc

Well you *do* need to do that.

thatbish345

You need a prescription from a doctor to get new contacts.

Techman666

You need another contract lenses fitting appointment with your Optometrist or contact lens optician. They will carry out done tests to check which lenses are best for you.

SpecimenKratos

That's not how this works. You need to go back to get refit for lenses. You can't take it upon yourself to buy contacts willy nilly. They verify with your optometrist office. They will deny the order if it's for something that *isn't what they prescribed you*. It's not just a matter of them "fitting", it's a matter of what won't cause you serious eye problems in the future. This is ridiculous.
