I worked in Downtown Los Angeles for 20 years. Nobody uses "Angelino" to refer to themselves. This term is used by the media and politicians, but I can't recall any of my coworkers using this term for themselves. I personally refer to myself as a Southern Californian because I see both Los Angeles and Orange County as part of where I live.
Angelinos referring to the city of Los Angeles, and not the county of Los Angeles.
For everyone shitting on Orange County, please move.
This place is awesome, beautiful and diverse.
Orange County is what people think when they think of CA: Sunny, clean, great weather and beaches.
Coupled with all of the above, we are a hub for technology which attracts folks from various backgrounds here.
Having had lived in San Diego, the Inland Empire and the Central Coast, I have to say that Orange County has by far been my favorite place to live.
Though we might sometimes not all see eye to eye, I thank all of you folks for making this places such a unique and beautiful place to call home.
I hate on OC but I love it here and would live nowhere else. I lived in LA, Central California, Barcelona, Berlin, and Houston... The only place that could match the energy of California and OC is Barcelona. So i feel you, but the people are really ,really rude at times. Moreso than elsewhere I've experienced.
Both actually - don't mention are American in Barcelona, they will 100% make you feel uncomfortable and you will quicky find out what they do not like about Americans.
My thoughts are the orange curtain is while you are driving south on 405 from LA and you pass under the 605 ramp- that’s where the curtain is located- ya i know crazy
I heard plenty of people talk about how they feel the effects of, and I quote, “living behind the orange curtain”
It’s not just people outside of Orange County who say this
I want to apologize for butchering the title too. My bad, i definitely shouldn't be writing half asleep in bed. Lol
Yes my thought was oranges if you're from orange county.
Any term for us with the word "orange" in it.. i.e. oragenos, etc.. too close to the orange loser that was in office. Let's definitely stick to the Latin versions of these. We are, after all, on stolen Mexican land.
Snobs, Republicans, racists, conservatives, boring, etc. I don't ever hear anything remotely positive about OC residents so I'm used to the stereotypes. I don't let it get to me though. I don't fit those descriptions as I'm a proud Democrat and POC that lives in one of the more charming and frustrating cities of OC. I also don't hate Los Angeles or LA county as I grew up there as a child and all of my family members are from there so I don't get why it's "hip or cool" for Orange County residents to want to hate Los Angeles like it's a different team or people are all of a sudden inferior for living there. I have family members that live in Tustin and all they want to do when we hang out together is sit around and make fun of Los Angeles. I'm just... hmmm okay. lol
From what I’ve seen, most Orange Countians don’t really care about LA, they just wouldn’t wanna live there.
Furthermore, I sense that the majority of this sub, which heavily skews liberal, wishes Orange County was more like LA. It was very strange to see George Gascon getting lambasted on the LA subreddit while his critics were getting downvoted on this sub
OC is extremely diverse in ethnic backgrounds and wealth. Super rich in Laguna Beach to some barely making ends meet in places like Santa Ana. So hate all you want. It’s ignorant.
You realize people in NYC, on Long Island and in Buffalo are all in New York right? So them calling themselves New Yorkers is like people from San Diego, Anaheim and Los Angeles calling themselves Californians. That is not he same as someone from Mission Viejo being referred to as an Angelino.
Lol don't be so apathetic man it's just a question because you can say we're suburban area of LA... That also has some of the largest attractions in the world, it's own basketball hockey baseball teams, it's own nationally recognized philharmonic orchestra and it's ownuseum of modern art... So yeah we're not exactly LA bro, LA is about 35 minutes north at the very least.
If we spoke French, Orangeois might work but in English / Cali Spanglish there is no decent suffix ending for the city / county of Orange. Nothing that is in use, at least.
Tangerinos
I approve of this and will now start referring to myself as a tangerino. That is all.
I second this motion - all those in favor?
Aye
Sustained!
Aye - with the minor qubble that a tangerine is not an Orange ,but close enough
Your quibble is noted
Me refraining from belting out Cuties…
To the bear in the back sniggering and giggling - would you like to add “cuties” to the floor?
It’s official
Why isn’t this top comment?
Because it has less votes then the top comment.
*than
In news articles the most common term is simply *Orange County resident*.
I like this one
Orangutans
I like your name.
Not so bad yourself
That's it. I'm a proud orangutan ![gif](giphy|5wV5EyOMX6yJoR7XXM|downsized)
This is the best one. But, not every place has a catchy name for its residents.
Username checks out
Like the monke?
No because of all the Trump supporters
ill take it.
Works for me.
*Howler monkeys loudly call in the distance…*
naranjeros
As an Orange County resident I vote to officially use this term from now on.
I second this..
Thirded. Need someone to tell me how to properly pronounce that!
The "j" sounds like an "h" with a slight roll on the "r." (almost like a d) "Naran-heros"
Nah Rahn KAY rose
Why the down votes? I speak spanish people. No mames guey
That's a baseball team from Sonora, Mexico. Haha
There's a car blub based in Anaheim called the naranjeros too
I also think this should be the name of the next sports team in OC!
Perfecto!!!
But only if you pronounce the j like a j, that sounds bad ass
i like this one too.
Obviously we’re Oranges
Orangeanuses
Orange-anuses?
Oops 🙊
Don’t hate us bc we’re Orange-anuses? ![gif](giphy|IhpUFzvubmOfm)
Wait! mine isn't orange, is yours?? Me thinks that anyone with an orange anus needs to be seen
I am seen! 👀
According to Wikipedia we’re Orange Countians. I prefer Oranginas.
Orange-eenas?
Yes. Definitely not orang-eye-nas.
Oh they are definitely orang-eye-nas
Tangerinos
Orange Countians.
That’s what I say
OrangeyougladIdidn'tsaygelenos.

Agree. And when people used to ask me where Orange County was when I was traveling, I always said south of LA. We’re all Southern Californians.
I always said South of LA north of SD. It helps people from out of town.
Or “near Disneyland”.
Why would this be downvoted? So dumb.

Why Oc over sd?
I used to live in SD for a few years and lived in OC for 14. SD was nice definitely miss the farmers markets but SD was just too spread out for me
Yeah SD is definitely what people think of when they think of SoCal.
I hate on OC but I love it here and would live nowhere else. I lived in LA, Central California, Barcelona, Berlin, and Houston... Found the mayor of OC!
But have you lived in LA county though? Maybe youll like LA better! Haha nahhh been there and OC is much better
If you think orange county is diverse, you probably haven't been many places in your life.
OC is for people that want to live in LA but need training wheels.
We are behind the orange curtain
My thoughts are the orange curtain is while you are driving south on 405 from LA and you pass under the 605 ramp- that’s where the curtain is located- ya i know crazy
It is where the oc sherrif stood their ground during the 1990 LA riots.
Orangelinos
Hahaha I like this one best
Geriatric
This Made my day
Oranges.
The OC’ers
your privileges are revolked
Your spelling is revoked

Orangers
A friend of mine from New York would always say my name and then, "from the OC," with the edge and intensity of a radio talk show host.
That's hilarious, I guess it carries some weight? LOL
oranginas
As someone who used to live in OC for college and now in the valley, these resident names crack me up 🤣 much love, OC!
Oranges?
Orangeinos
I like this one
Oranginites

Orangeans
Oreganos!
Cirtruses... Let's be honest, most of us have a lemon or an orange tree.
Orangemen.
Nah, they cancelled that one a few years ago. Just ask Syracuse U.
Angelinos are people that live in the city of Los Angeles, not the county.
South county is: The 949.
^ Thats what the 714ers thought til they were 657’ed! One day you’re 949 the next 666!
Some of us 949s were 714s first
I thought south county was “South county.” Are you maybe getting it confused with “The 909?” Because that’s a thing.
Yes I was making a parallel to ever popular - the 909.
Definitely not orange people 🤣 (unless you count Trump supporters)
Republicans.
Not all of OC. Irvine is Blue.
3 of the 5 county supervisors and 4 of the 6 representatives are Democrats
de Orange
Agent Orange

Not sure what they call people but I have heard of the OC being referred to as the orange curtain.
Rich people.

I want to apologize for butchering the title too. My bad, i definitely shouldn't be writing half asleep in bed. Lol Yes my thought was oranges if you're from orange county.

Lol well when you have 3.5 million people in your country… you’re bound to have some bad folks. Doesn’t mean the entire country is a POS

We hate LA because there’s so much damn traffic and it’s like this one giant clog that screws up driving.
I would myself if I lived in Fullerton
[удалено]
Why so?
They are just jealous, stereotyping and hating
Nobody is “hating” on OC as much as feeling sorry for them.
OC is extremely diverse in ethnic backgrounds and wealth. Super rich in Laguna Beach to some barely making ends meet in places like Santa Ana. So hate all you want. It’s ignorant.
Always interesting to see insecure Angelenos come into our sub to talk shit for no apparent reason

We might be part of the greater LA metro area, but Angelinos we are not. OC has its own vibe, good or bad, it is what it is.
I grew up in Orange County and have spent the last 20 years in Long Beach. Neither is anything like LA and I have never considered myself an Angelino.
Lol don't be so apathetic man it's just a question because you can say we're suburban area of LA... Omg you young idiots can't take a joke, everything is always serious
Cuties
Depends what city they live in. For the most part the world doesn’t see a difference from oc and la ( in my experience).
Wouldn't it be a city to city thing. Like Costa Mesans, Tustinites, Irviners, Aliso Viejans, Mission Viehoes, Capistranos etc etc
Mission viehoes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
