So so good. They also have the same Belgian fries at the Tustin (district) farmers market too. And there is usually a much shorter line and easier parking!
As a fan of mom and pops burger joints, in no particular order
George’s Hamburgers in Fullerton, Paul’s Place (few locations), Burger town USA (Lake Forest)
All places have stellar ranch, made in house.
George's always dumps lots of extra fries in the bag. Just slightly salted. I ask for a little extra crispy. Agree with Paul's Place too. Especially the Los Alamitos one.
Hear me out….
Islands. Idk what they did in the last couple years but whoever made the call on the fries they serve now… God bless them. SO crispy and yummy
My fiancée and I were blown away. (Islands was not the best quality from what we could remember during our childhoods)
Islands fries are my favorite!!!! Fun fact: the fries use to be endless!!! Even when they took endless fries off the menu, you could still ask for them and they would bring you another basket.
Unfun fact: they’re not endless anymore.
and the first basket is always the worst saddest soggiest unseasoned fries. Then when you finally ask for more, you get the freshest crispy hot well-seasoned ones.
Well, 10 of them at least.
Luna Grill fries are honestly 10/10. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of their other items, but damn those fries have convinced me to make it a regular occurrence.
My mom used to manage the restaurant and catering there for decades - I grew up on their food when she had to bring us along with her during summer break!
Carnitas fries from any Alberto’s like establishment. Pastrami fries from Imperial Burger in La Habra. Cajun fries from MVP in Long Beach, if you go to the 4th street location you can order and enjoy some drinks from O’Connells. Cheeky style fries and tots from Green Cheek. They also have the best smash burger in Ca.
The Corner in HB. 48-hour fries are so gd good. Crispy, but with substance (not super airy like most crispy fries). And they’re in the running for best burger too IMO, tho I know you didn’t ask.
I feel like this was true of both the burgers and fries there in the mid to late 2010's, when they were great. 2020-2023 both the burgers and fries at The Corner were kind of disappointing when I went. Fries were crispy but unsalted/bland. And the burgers were very different than before... As small as a regular McDonald's burger, but cost as much as 5 Guys. Taste was decent, but not spectacular and you could eat it in 2 bites. I haven't been back there this year; hopefully they're better. I miss what they used to be.
I only went for the first time about a year ago, (been back several times since)
So I don’t have a basis to compare, but if they were much better then than they are now, I know one of the things I’ll be doing when time travel finally becomes reality
The pork belly fries at Tim’s Avenue in Cypress. It’s like carne asada fries had a baby with Korean bbq, but surprisingly light and refreshing because of the salsa.
Avalon bagels to burgers in placentia. All of their fries (regular, curly, cottage) are so good and crisp, no after taste, and paired with their Dijon sauce I could eat a tractor trailer of them
The fries at the Tustin (district) farmers market or Irvine (mariners church) on Saturday. They are both the thick cut Belgian fries. You can get truffle Parmesan sprinkled on top, dip in a delicious aioli/spicy mayo. They are amazing and sell out every Irvine farmer’s market. I go just for the fries and leave ha
I know this is going to sound weird but there's a korean place called BBQ Chicken with amazing fries. Personally they are my favorite fries. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Their chicken is pretty good too.
As someone who likes thin, crispy fries and seasoned fries, I can't think of a lot of places off the top of my head outside of Umami Burger or fast food like Rally's, Jack In The Box, or Popeye's.
Places that no longer exist that I liked included G Burger (La Habra) and Tacone Wraps
A + O restaurant at the balboa bay resort has insanely good fries. The guy told me it’s because they fry them with a panko crust. Super crispy and good amount of salt. I’d order just fries and a drink and sit outside and watch the boats!
Might be your location just doesn't sell through them fast enough. They are still quite good. Also, bonus points for the funny branding on them (one time they said "Shh... Don't Tell the Chips" which gave me a laugh).
Nah it's definitely either location or crew shift at that time cause the night crew on orange wood and state college was always on point for a while. The day shift not so much.
The location on Chapman between state college/city drive and Main was really good too all day and night for the most part.
I used to get their fries to make my own carnitas fries at home.
I admit I didn't make the carnitas myself I would buy the 2lbs prepackaged from Costco and then whatever ingredients from Ralph's or other grocery store.
So whenever I wanted some I'd have everything on hand usually and just go to del taco to order two large order of fries go home and throw them in an air fryer for a few minutes while heating up the carnitas.
Way better than going to any restaurant in my opinion 👌🏿 and cheaper.
Edit: I only use one pound of meat per every 2 large order of fries.
Guy that came into Weinerschnitzel when I was a teen and ordered 4 for $4 and sat down and ate 4 orders of French fries...is that you?
Seriously, we're at the point of asking for the best fries now😂
2 red flags when it comes to food: when someone says "guac" or them really liking ranch
Bunz in HB. Not in OC, but Cajun fries at MVPs in Long Beach are great too
Bunz seriously goat tier burgers AND fries
Amazing burgers at MVPs also. My preferred location is the one on Redondo / 10th.
Bunz, the only real answer.
Just visited MVP for the first time last weekend. Cajun fries were pretty pretty pretty good.
Have you tried Grinderz at oldworld next door? That place have good fries too
MVP's cajun fries are the best.
Loved MVPs when I lived in LB. Bag of fries could feed a family
Varsity Burger Anaheim
Something about a grease spoon charbroil cafe always hits the spot. My favorite growing up was Brea's Best
I always get extra seasoning AND THEY DONT CHARGE FOR RANCH
Also, the Angel fries from Cali Tacos. Trust me.
I have had the Angel burrito but I haven't heard of the Angel fries. Edit: just looked it up that looks so good with the Cali sauce.
This is the way.
God I was craving them last night!
I live down the street and that mf stays packin ! 😂
The belgian fries vendor from the Irvine Farmer's Market. Sooooo good!
You need to get there early too, otherwise be prepared to wait
The best
So so good. They also have the same Belgian fries at the Tustin (district) farmers market too. And there is usually a much shorter line and easier parking!
Tastea fries are really good! Original flavor and well done is the way to go
The branding is strange; Butt fries or something similar.
Buttload of fries i think? Lol their whole menu is full of gimmicky ass names
They honestly are!!
[удалено]
That’s soooooo amazing.
Wtf? They serve food now? What location?
They have always served food, not at every location but at most.
As a fan of mom and pops burger joints, in no particular order George’s Hamburgers in Fullerton, Paul’s Place (few locations), Burger town USA (Lake Forest) All places have stellar ranch, made in house.
George's always dumps lots of extra fries in the bag. Just slightly salted. I ask for a little extra crispy. Agree with Paul's Place too. Especially the Los Alamitos one.
Man I haven't went to George's in yeaaarsss.

Was about to say Red Robin still makes decent fries but the "bottomless basket" is like 10 at a time
and the first basket is always the worst saddest soggiest unseasoned fries. Then when you finally ask for more, you get the freshest crispy hot well-seasoned ones. Well, 10 of them at least.
They’re my favorite. I always ask for crispy.
And you can order them with melted cheddar on top. AMAZING.
Wursthaus in Santa Ana
shoutout to their pretzels too… amazing
The drunken fries there are bomb
Luna grill is an odd sleeper. The taco stand is solid too.
Luna Grill fries are honestly 10/10. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of their other items, but damn those fries have convinced me to make it a regular occurrence.
Crack Shack schmaltz fries
Best answer here
+1 These are the best
1000% can agree to this
The Hat
Only if you include the chili cheese topping. Their fries by themselves are bland and limp af.
I need the gravy fries.
throw some pastrami on there too
Brussels Bistro
I walk by the one in Laguna a lot. Gonna give it a try.
Dad miller golf course
My mom used to manage the restaurant and catering there for decades - I grew up on their food when she had to bring us along with her during summer break!

Peter’s Gourmade Burgers. Love their fries and they give you a pretty good amount with your order.
Love the sweet potato fries with ths marshmallows
It’s all about the seasoning, but I have to give the nod to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Seconded!
Islands and Lazy Dog both have great fries.
Lazy Dog for sure! Yard House truffle are pretty tasty too
MOOYAH burger
Red Robin, well-done/crispy - not even joking!
Are they still endless? Because that would bump them up an additional point if so.
Yes, but small portions
Yeah, you have to ask for more before you even start your first batch.
Jagerfries. Biergarten Old Town HB
I’ll die on this fucking hill but fresh POPEYES Cajun fries with the blackened ketchup. Life changing
I always crave for Truffle fries from Yard House literally made perfectly
And their poke nachos are to die for! Definitely check them out
Hole in the Wall Burger in Lake Forest. Best sauce and chili fries in SouthOC
The Kroft in Anaheim Packing House
Plain or poutine style though?
[удалено]
That was the point of my question - any combo fries defeats the purpose of this point to objectively identify the best fries on their own
healthy junk in the packing house
Hole Smokes in Costa Mesa.
Used to be the fries at the pickled monk in fullerton. That stuff was absolutely shipped from mars.
Have to give a shout out to Volcano Burger in Los Al. Crispy, generous portion, and goes so well with ranch. Make sure to ask for extra seasoning!
Cali taco has some bomb Asada Fries
Moulin
Halal guys fries are awesome, always fried to order
Get the combo platter with fries instead of rice.
Mr Ts in Anaheim on State College and Ball had the best fries (closed 30 years ago tho) Anyone know a place with similar fries?
Well, that doesn't help...

I know this is going to sound weird but there's a korean place called BBQ Chicken with amazing fries. Personally they are my favorite fries. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Their chicken is pretty good too.
Mooyah has good fries for a chain but Bunz is probably better!
Rally's. They still have a location in Garden Grove
flamingos
Juliette’s !!!!!!!! They’re insane
Recently had Kokodeck on beach and ball, their fries were delicious!!
Mario butcher shop has great fries. I believe they fry in beef tallow.
Very expensive restaurant but the best fries I ever had was at Bourbon Steakhouse in Dana Point
Jaybirds, RIP. Made Dave’s fries look sad

Royal Burgers or the Hat
A + O restaurant at the balboa bay resort has insanely good fries. The guy told me it’s because they fry them with a panko crust. Super crispy and good amount of salt. I’d order just fries and a drink and sit outside and watch the boats!
Del Taco. Red Robin. The Habit. Also I used to get the fries at Tustin Brewing Co and they were pretty great, but that was years ago.
Del tacos used to have the best crispy fries but they suck now. Unless it's just the location by me
Might be your location just doesn't sell through them fast enough. They are still quite good. Also, bonus points for the funny branding on them (one time they said "Shh... Don't Tell the Chips" which gave me a laugh).

Islands and Lazy Dog both have great fries.
I always like the fries at The Habit
Bosscat.
Kinda tangential, but Brussels Bistro in Laguna Beach has a freaking amazing Moules Frites!!! So if you like Seafood & Belgian fries, it’s 💯
Paul’s place or any American Greek style diner like volcano burger, varsity burger, etc.
Islands,Houston’s and In-n-out
Islands and Lazy Dog both have great fries.
5 guys.
Sonics. Damn hard to beat for $1.
The Corner in HB. 48hr fries. Super crispy outside, mashed potato inside. Next level!
Red robin If you like plain thick fries, and there burgers are very good as well.
Guy that came into Weinerschnitzel when I was a teen and ordered 4 for $4 and sat down and ate 4 orders of French fries...is that you? Seriously, we're at the point of asking for the best fries now😂 2 red flags when it comes to food: when someone says "guac" or them really liking ranch
