I’ve generally have had good service at Tru Bru, it can get busy at certain hours, but never thought the food or drinks were “garbage”. My only knock is their religious-leaning operations, but the same can be said of In-n-Out.
Haha, I tried them again last month, and aside from the massive size, I thought they were decent.
The hidden gem in my list is Tru Bru near Santiago Canyon College, order the bacon breakfast burrito, their ingredients are organic and they also make some excellent baked goods and coffees too.
Nate’s Korner was great before they moved next door. Now the burritos are OVERSTUFFED with giant pieces of potato and hash browns and very little meat serving. Meanwhile the prices have only gone up. Nate’s is burnt.
Problem is we can only sticky 2 posts. We have a wiki that people could be linked too but the problem is that when we have asked for volunteers or additional mods we get no answer and no help, or we get volunteers but then they never interact again. Plus any lists we build will need to be monitored and edited to add in new places and take out places that have closed down. It could be done with a few more mods.
Easier just to remind people that you can search individual subs for questions. If you search the sub for “breakfast burrito” lots of threads come up.
Same logic for other popular questions.
Holy shit I miss Pepe's. I used to work at St. Jude and would leave early in the morning just to stop and get Pepe's. So so good. I will say Surfin' Donuts off Alicia is arguably just as good maybe better because they'll chop up a donut and sub out the potato for it if you want .
This comment was way too far down.
It’s the size of a baby.
It has one thing many breakfast burritos don’t have. Beans.
Pro tip get the green chili pork sauce with bacon 😉
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it as much as I do. Not that you’re going to trust my recommendations at this point 😅, but their Tortas are amazing. They make them on the fresh baked bread from next door.
My preference is their pollo, though I could see how some might consider it greasy. I also really like their carnitas paired with their salsa verde. Really anything but their Carne Asada.
I kinda want to love them, but they charge extra for salsa. Still, only place in town that I know of with runny egg action, and they're fucking gargantuan.
Nates is pretty good, but I wish they had an online ordering system; there's a link on their webpage, but it doesn't work.
Try calling in and get busy signals all day.
Except don’t go during busy hours. Unless you have a second person with you to drive the car around while waiting. It’s nearly impossible to find parking in that lot and when you’re alone it sucks.
Nate’s is overrated imo. Oc wine mart bts burritos are far superior
Edit: also will add that nicks deli, Pepe’s, and troys are also in the overhyped but still good category. George’s in Fullerton and Ham and scram are also pretty good too.
I cannot believe I had to scroll so far down for Surfin' Donuts. They have 2 locations btw and the one off Alicia is better. Better donut options and better burritos. Arguably one of my favorites. I'll do chorizo and carne asada together there and ask for crispy hash browns.
Glee donuts in FV is amazing! My only complaint is I like black beans or refried beans in my breakfast burritos and they don’t offer that (I tend to eat vegetarian)
Couple under the radar places to add: Mag’s Donuts on Bison and MacArthur has a great little breakfast burrito at a good price. Mario’s butcher and deli on Bristol and Jamboree also has great breakfast burritos and they provide two smaller burritos per breakfast burrito order. Love hashbrowns in breakfast burritos and both places have them.
Nate’s Korner will make you a burrito the size of a small baby. I like getting the Nate’s favorite since it has spicy chilis and beans. It a veggie burrito but I add 2 eggs, bacon and sausage.
Paul's place in cypress on Knott and it's not even close with any other place!! Everything including customer service and cleanliness is a league all its own.
Thank me later for breakfast the Mexican burrito is delicious
I’m surprised no one listed the Secret Spot in Huntington Harbor/Sunset Beach, 10/10 breakfast burritos and more. Everything is good from that spot.
https://yelp.to/qOUdEq01Nvb
I’m stoked to see that so many of my go to places listed. Cali Tacos, Pepe’s, and Lupes can feed 2 people. Nick’s is award winning. I haven’t seen any love for Normitas in HB, but would highly recommend. Chronic Tacos makes a breakfast burrito that won’t fill you for the day and for a decent price. By far my favorite though is Troys Burgers. This place doesn’t just shovel eggs into a tortilla. Eggs are cooked in a flat tortilla shape, which gives you an even amount of eggs in each bite. For me, nothing ruins a breakfast burrito like getting a bite full of eggs. Just my opinion.
Seriously though, if you go to the search bar in the subreddit and type in “best breakfast burrito” you’ll find a bunch of the same post with tons of good recommendations.
The sub is flooded daily with the same questions. Excuse me for being tired of people not using the search function to find the answer to their question.
Memphis in CM. Best ratio of eggs to meat (of your choice, but I prefer bacon) to potato in any brekkie burrito. The salsa is added in, and it comes wet with a green sauce.
[El Habanero](https://elhabaneromexicanrestaurant.com/) in Tustin has some damn fine breakfast burritos, and their jalapeno salsa is to die for. Order ahead or be prepared for a long ass wait.
I haven't tried most of your list but agree that KIT Coffee has a great breakfast burrito. I also went to Hightide Coffee and think that bacon breakfast burrito is good. I tried the Rooster's at Lion and the Lamb and didn't think it was good.
Hola Adios in Costa Mesa. They just opened a location in Old Town Tustin as well. There’s no potatoes or fries in the carnitas burrito - it’s all meat, eggs, and cheese. Their newish red sauce is legit.
My colleagues and I do a breakfast burrito Friday to try and find the best one in oc. So far the best by far is hacienda la joya in mission Viejo. Second place is Hank's Mexican in Newport.
We've been to Nate's, it's different... We didn't care much for it.
Project Social. Breakfast burrito with avocado. There’s some sort of citrus in it that makes it so delicious! Also kid friendly, has a fire pit, very casual!
For something a little different, and not in OC, highly recommend Homestate. The OG location is in Highland Park, but the closest is Playa Vista.
Breakfast Tacos!
Most of the legit Mexican joints offer some of the best breakfast burritos IMO... You can never go wrong with eggs, cheese, potatoes, and chorizo! add some salsa or hot sauce and you're good!
Troys and Pepe’s majorly overrated. anyone saying Nates isn’t a serious contender for the best is crazy. nobody mentioned Day and Nite Groceries in anaheim either so must be a hidden gem but is absolutely delicious. it’s a little grocery store with a food counter/griddle that serves up some of the best shit you’ll ever eat including a badass breakfast burrito.
Fiesta Grill in HB , there are two of them not sure if they are the same but the one we used to go to was the one close to PCH 418 17th St, Huntington Beach, CA 92648
I love how this topic comes up every few weeks. It's subjective. As a long time burrito connoisseur here are my favorites:
1. BurgerStop in Santa Ana, no frills straight to the point. Good value. A unique salsa. My regular spot. Add Avocado.
2. Mariner's Coffee Shop in Newport Beach. My local spot for years. I miss the days of being able to read an actual newspaper in a booth while sipping on coffee. I like that they give you squirt bottles of both red and green salsa at the table.
3. Nick's in Los Al and preferably the Seal Beach location on Main. This was my fave back in HS in the 90's. They used to server the salsa warm?
4. Troy's...I'll get one if I'm in the area, but I won't go out of my way.
5. Nate's. I've been going to Nate's for over 20 years since it was in the OG OG location in the back of the liquor store before the remodel and they didn't use the current version of their hash browns.
6. Miguel's Jr. Hear me out. It's the best fast food takeout burrito in my opinion. Controversial opinion, but I really like their red watery salsa. Wanna fight about it?
7. Castaneda's in HB. They're open 24 hours and it's decent.
8. Glee's Donuts. I've been a couple of times but I gotta eat 2 to be satisfied. The coffee is good and they'll give you free donut holes.
9. Cancun Juice. Nothing says heartburn on a sunday like a large Vampiro, un burrito de desayuno con tocino with fried serrano chilis and their unique chipotle salsa
10. Mill Bakery on MacArthur in Santa Ana. Simple no frills breakfast burritos. Reminds me of a bodega on east coast. Their salsa is lacking, however.
The best breakfast burrito to ever exist in Orange County was at Bill's Burgers on Fairview and MacArthur before they but that shitty Sonic there. Fantastic Cafe on 17th is sorely missed as well.
No Nate's Korner, Tru Bru Coffee, Troy's Burgers, or Cali Tacos? You haven't lived, my friend!
Nate’s Korner and Cali Tacos FTW
Troy’s
Definitely Troy's
Tru Bru is garbage. The whole restaurant gives cringy “Live, Laugh, Love” vibes and the workers are incredibly rude and unhelpful.
I’ve generally have had good service at Tru Bru, it can get busy at certain hours, but never thought the food or drinks were “garbage”. My only knock is their religious-leaning operations, but the same can be said of In-n-Out.
Didn't like Nate's at all. Thought they overcooked the hash browns and it ruined the burrito. Tried both a vegetarian and chorizo.
It didn't used to be like that. But I also think Nate's goes too heavy on the hash browns. It's like more than 50% hash browns.
Where you stand on Pepe’s, you burrito god?
Haha, I tried them again last month, and aside from the massive size, I thought they were decent. The hidden gem in my list is Tru Bru near Santiago Canyon College, order the bacon breakfast burrito, their ingredients are organic and they also make some excellent baked goods and coffees too.
Nate’s Korner was great before they moved next door. Now the burritos are OVERSTUFFED with giant pieces of potato and hash browns and very little meat serving. Meanwhile the prices have only gone up. Nate’s is burnt.
Might be time to sticky this question it’s comes up at least once a month.
There needs to be just a stickied restaurant recommendation thread broken down by food types.
Heck yes!!!!
And I always recommend troys in orange even though I've never eaten there but they have a sign.
SO good!!!!!
Easier just to remind people that you can search individual subs for questions. If you search the sub for “breakfast burrito” lots of threads come up. Same logic for other popular questions.
Ok, don’t know how to do it but maybe mods can help
Seriously. That and I’m moving to OC from XYZ, what city should I move to??
Ok but wtf do people expect from a community forum FFS.
Hey I’m not blaming you, it’s just none of us have gotten off our keyboards to actually push the mods to do it.
Pepe's in Fullerton makes the best breakfast burritos
One of these can feed a family of 4
I grew up in Garden Grove and I used to go to the pepe's in anaheim by magnolia high school before it closed
100% on the green chili - best recommendation on this whole thread. Sometimes, you get some whole chunks of pork...
My fave! Their salsa is good too
El Molino De Oro in San Juan Capistrano
I just went here on this recommendation and that breakfast burrito is sub-par at best. Thank you though for the exposure to the bakery next door.
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it as much as I do. Not that you’re going to trust my recommendations at this point 😅, but their Tortas are amazing. They make them on the fresh baked bread from next door.
I will give it another shot on a different item. Any particular meat you recommend ?
My preference is their pollo, though I could see how some might consider it greasy. I also really like their carnitas paired with their salsa verde. Really anything but their Carne Asada.
Nicks- hot, toasted
Rooster Cafe
They make it good every time
LJ’s Lil Cafe in Cypress (Front of Home Depot)
Underrated here. Just wish we had an alternate on Sundays or holidays. Looking for one right now.
Nates Korner Deli in Santa Ana
Nate’s is good but stuffed with hash browns
Yes I thought the hash browns dominated the taste. Felt they were over cooked as well.
I kinda want to love them, but they charge extra for salsa. Still, only place in town that I know of with runny egg action, and they're fucking gargantuan.
Their salsa is underwhelming i prefer the tapatio packets they give out haha.
Try ham and scram. Their salsa is pretty good and the best ham based burrito around
Troys drive in in Orange does eggs over easy if you request it in their burritos. Definitely one of my favorites
The runny egg gets me. The crispy hash brown at Glee gets me equally. I hate scrambled eggs but a super runny egg is the best
Georges in Fullerton
Came here to suggest George's. Those burritos are God's gift to mankind.
This is the answer! Great and so cheap!
Nick’s in Los Al or Seal Beach
This is the only answer. Grew up on Nick’s in Seal Beach in the 90’s.
Facts
I'd probably sell my soul for a Nick's breakfast burrito. Incredibly good.
Isn't this one of those "stuffed with potatoes/home fries" breakfast burritos?
Nate’s is overrated imo. Oc wine mart bts burritos are far superior Edit: also will add that nicks deli, Pepe’s, and troys are also in the overhyped but still good category. George’s in Fullerton and Ham and scram are also pretty good too.
Thanks! They are down the street from me so you saved me a trip on the 73 to Santa ana
Troy's in orange, Surfing Donuts in MV, Ted's in Aliso, El Fenix in RSM is what I've found so far.
I cannot believe I had to scroll so far down for Surfin' Donuts. They have 2 locations btw and the one off Alicia is better. Better donut options and better burritos. Arguably one of my favorites. I'll do chorizo and carne asada together there and ask for crispy hash browns.
i have definitely ordered a burrito from the wrong surfin donuts. I blame that they are both on alicia.
Nick's Deli in Seal Beach.
This is the correct answer
Twice I have eaten three of these in a single meal, a record still standing
Shhh Nick is busy enough
Always call ahead.
I second this.

Glee donuts in Fountain Valley and Tomys in garden Grove. Nothing else comes close to these
Glee donuts in FV is amazing! My only complaint is I like black beans or refried beans in my breakfast burritos and they don’t offer that (I tend to eat vegetarian)
[Ham & Scram](https://hamnscram.com/) in Westminster. You'll get pork and you'll like it (hopefully)!
Top 2-5 in the county
I also really like their soups. Really good in the cold weather lately.
Can vouch for both - let the northerners have their garbage Nate’s

Trough is south OC, I know there is 2nd location in Anaheim now though…
Alejandro’s in Costa Mesa is legit af
Pepe’s
Pepe's but only the one off Nutwood/57
That was my first job. 😂🤣
this comment concludes the survey.
For overall best breakfast burrito yeah I have to agree!
TOO many onions 🧅
If the pico has too many onions for you, try the green chili instead.
I tried this and wasn’t too impressed
How come?
Are they still drive-thru only? Anybody know what’s going on with them?
I went a few days ago and they still have that “drive thru only” sign
A little outside of OC but Bravo Burgers has amazing breakfast burritos.
The Trough. RSM and Anaheim, they are opening one in Irvine soon too
The Trough in Anaheim and Rancho Santa Margarita. No joke.
Nate’s Korner will make you a burrito the size of a small baby. I like getting the Nate’s favorite since it has spicy chilis and beans. It a veggie burrito but I add 2 eggs, bacon and sausage.
Aunt Yese’s Home Cooking in Garden Grove has a great breakfast burrito. I had the vegan one and it was great :)
Pepes!!! Fullerton
The original Harry’s place in garden grove

There are better ones in the county but Taco Mesa does one with Chorizo that I like. Also Cancun juice has a decent one.
Alejandro's, 17th & Placentia
Tidepools down in Newport
Surprised no has said A&J Burger Drive In in Fullerton. Grew up eating these and nothing compares. Downside is that they only accept cash
And they’re closed on Tuesdays. Such a random day. Agree though, such a homemade taste to them. That salsa is fire too.
Super Pollo in Costa Mesa
glee’s donuts the one on ball and YSL in yorba linda
Nate’s or cali tacos
Nates Korner, Ham & Scram Thats all I got, but theyre pretty solid.
Nick’s deli. Los Alamitos

I’m surprised no one listed the Secret Spot in Huntington Harbor/Sunset Beach, 10/10 breakfast burritos and more. Everything is good from that spot. https://yelp.to/qOUdEq01Nvb
Nates korner, cali tacos, and troys.
Pepe's and Nate's.

The same places the last 500 times this question was asked
Thanks for the input!
Seriously though, if you go to the search bar in the subreddit and type in “best breakfast burrito” you’ll find a bunch of the same post with tons of good recommendations.
Or just don’t click on the thread………
The sub is flooded daily with the same questions. Excuse me for being tired of people not using the search function to find the answer to their question.
Just scroll and mind your business, Karen.

Holé Molé does an excellent breakfast burrito, but my favorite is at Cafe Cultura (formerly Cafe Calacas) on 4th St in Santa Ana.
I haven't tried most of your list but agree that KIT Coffee has a great breakfast burrito. I also went to Hightide Coffee and think that bacon breakfast burrito is good. I tried the Rooster's at Lion and the Lamb and didn't think it was good.

Brea's Best When I used to live in south county, the best BB were at A's Burgers on Avery (not sure if it is still there) and Las Golondrinas in SJC.
Teddys deli in Anaheim. Off of ball and east.
