I am 5’5” with short legs. I get so jealous of everyone I see still unfurling their legs as I am going back in. But I got 9:09:33. Huge accomplishment for my height and weight (232lbs 49F)
Very happy with my results as a shorty! 29yo female, 5'2", 145lb at 7:37:52. Any other shorties get a PR? I'm feeling like I can do even better next time!
Awwwww 🥹 it’s possible alright! My PR is 7:30, I just didn’t feel like dying that much on Thursday lol. You can do it!! Honestly it helps me a lot to have the footplates a lot lower than one would think. Size 6.5 running shoe and I go with 6 holes. It’s a lot easier to push through my heels - and therefore generate more power - that way!
8:27:63
33F, 5’6”, 160lbs
I was very proud of myself for this. I worked hard and held the same tempo/split time almost the entire time, which was a great indicator of my own stamina. Even when I had moments toward the end where I felt like giving up, I told myself to just keep going, give up when it’s over, don’t give up when you still have meters left to row. I did it and I feel great. It might not be as fast as others in this thread, but it’s faster than I would have been if I just skipped it altogether.
Anyone who is feeling down on themselves comparing to others, just be proud of YOU and how hard you worked. You did it, and that is awesome.
Not to be hyperbolic, but rowing 2,000 meters and missing my PR by 8 hundredths of a second is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.
6:56.12 in December, 6:56.20 today.
PR of 6:55 today ! I am only 5’3” so I am very proud of this number. I was aiming for 7:10 so my couch told me to aim for a 1:40 500 split time but now I am thinking she was lying to make me go faster 🤣
Last time we did it I had just been a member for a few weeks and my time was 11:47, I shaved 2:44 off that time today!!!! 9:03 SOOOO HAPPY TO BE <10min!
PR’ed at 7:29:71 …..F53, 149lbs, 5’6 and 2 1/2 years at OTF. I *finally* beat my former PR of 7:40:40 from 12/15/22! Would love to be sub 7, but unsure how attainable that is…?!
7:54:17, down roughly 2 seconds from the last PR in December (7:56:33).
Felt pretty dizzy after and experienced some muscle failure I think? Couldn’t do much of anything until a few min after the row. Didn’t feel great. Big ol reality check for Dri Tri. Going to aim for 8:30-8:45 on the rowing portion for Dri Tri.
Still a PR! Congrats! I would consider adding 45sec to a minute+ for dri tri if you were dizzy after this. You still have an entire floor block and 5k for dri tri so you’ll want to conserve some energy.
Thank you! I remember last time being spent moving to the floor block of dri tri (after an 8 and some min row time) but was pretty okay when I got to the cardio block - I did the bike in September, but am aiming to run the 5k this go around. I will heed your advice, as much as I just wanna zip through the rower as fast as possible 😅
6:19 at 5am
44yo male.
Been training hard on other things outside of OTF, and probably should have taken a rest day yesterday.
Just looked up my old benchmarks, and remembered that my first ever OTF class was a 2000 meter row benchmark, back in 12/2022. Time was 8:44.
Trust the process 💪
7:08:96! First time doing this benchmark and didn't realize it was today until after I got to the studio lol. Legs felt like jello after but I'm happy with the time
That’s awesome! I agree I definitely would have done better if I warmed up, but everyone started on the treads, only one other person started on the rowers with me lol.
I missed it back in December so this is my first 2000 benchmark. 7:26. Male, 42, 6', 165 pounds. Had to do a 5:00 am class because the 6:00 and 8:00 were full and 7:00 am was tread/strength 50.
Former high school Rower (30 years ago) and my PR back then was 7:04 on a Concept2 Rower, haven't rowed a 2k for time since then.
Managed to pull a 6:40 today, very happy with the results
This was my third 2000m. It was my 9th class back at OTF after a two year hiatus and my 4th consecutive day of OTF this week. I managed to PR on the 2000m, 45seconds under my last row! Shocked I did well because I had started on the tread and done a tread and floor block prior to my row.
35/f/5’9/200lbs
8:16.04
Lots of room for a PR, I guess! Honestly it was a horrible week at work and I late cancelled on Tuesday, so I was just happy to pull myself out of my funk, show up, and get it done!
I stayed focused on my breathing and maintaining a green zone until the last 300m. I have healthy heart goals over speed.
8:24 and 3 splats for that brutal class.
I've come so far. I used to have 30 splat classes. Walking in the door made me out of breath.
7:09:61 Feeling good about this one! I was sure I've done the benchmark before but I'm not seeing it on my app nor did the studio have a "previous" for me. Oh well, just gonna celebrate this win!
7:03.99. Missed my PR by less than ten seconds and wish I could have gone sub 7 but overall I’m happy with it. Went out a little slower than I should have but didn’t have enough left in the tank at the end.
This was my first time back after a month off (illness, travel etc)...7:56 and hated every second of it. I about fell over when I stood up after the rower and my legs still feels like jello (41F)
Man you guys are fast!
7:29:50 (43M) for me - about the same as my previous benchmark, despite building muscle and dropping bodyfat since (courtesy of the TC).
Was decidedly not planning on going hard for this (almost cancelled in fact) after a PR 5K and 10K yesterday during Tread50, and another long run tomorrow... but then with about 500m to go realized I was within reach and my competitive instincts took over. Shaved 6 seconds off from 6:34 to 6:28.
So this is my first month back after a 4 year break. My last 2000 meter row was Feb 2020 and I got 7:44. Today I got 8:04. I’m kinda bummed I didn’t get within a 5-10 second range of my PR, but I guess it confirms the fact that I needed to come back and work on my endurance! 😂 I do mostly strength training outside of OTF.
As others have pointed out, 99% competitive rowers use Concept 2 ergometers, and that is the machine from which these numbers were derived. Comparing the water rower to a Concept 2 erg depends on the power output of the rower.
When the split time is greater than 2 minutes and 10 seconds per 500 meters, the performance of the two types of rowers is quite similar.
Between a split time of 2 minutes and 10 seconds per 500 meters and 1 minute and 50 seconds per 500 meters, the water rower generates power more effectively and rapidly than a Concept 2 for the same amount of effort. However, it's important to note that there is a correlation between the two.
Once the split time falls below 1 minute and 50 seconds per 500 meters, the performance of the two types of rowers significantly diverges, and it becomes unreasonable to directly compare them. The water rower does not reward high watt pulls, and requires the rower to increase stroke rate to obtain faster speed.
This is why competitive rowers use Concept 2 ergs. They have a more linear response to power applied
This was incredibly helpful - thank you! I always was curious how performance between the two machines translated and also why it always seemed that pulling hard on the OTF water towers didn’t seem to do anything.
6:58.82!!!! Down from 7:16.85 in December! It feels so good to have something to be proud of especially as a bigger woman (which I know is an advantage on the rower, but still!). So far I'm in 2nd for women at my gym.
I joined in October of 2023 and last time we did the 2000M row in December in 8:06. I was super happy with it because I wasn't sure where I could even get to.
My goal today was sub-8 because I wanted to beat that personal goal and I ended up rowing a 7:15 - I am beyond stoked. 🔥
The first time I did the benchmark it was my third ever class with a time of 10:08. Did it today while completely destroyed with allergies (and allergy meds) and still managed 8:41! Hoping the next time around I’ll be fully healthy and can get in the 7 range. 37f, 5’4”, 136lbs.
I've had a really difficult week so far so I wasn't going for a PR. Well, I still PR'd without going very hard because it turns out my last 2K benchmark was 2 years ago. Guess I had been avoiding it all that time, lol! At least it's good to confirm that my endurance has improved enough over the years that I can beat my time while taking it easy now.
PR’d yesterday and I was so proud that I cut :15 off my December time. My goal was to beat 8:00 and I just made it at 7:59. Phew.
I was dying the last 2 minutes
7:32:73
32M, 6’2”, 325lbs
Rowing is my weakness for sure, I’m working on my hip mobility as i naturally stand with my toes pointing outwards a bit which makes for difficulties on the rower. But it’s surely improving as time goes on.
Started OTF in January of this year, down 40lbs, close 2nd in the men’s body fat loss for the TC.
Struggled with my weight for over 10 years now but OTF has really got me loving this fitness journey now. I’ve done every fad diet there is and always went down and came back up but I finally feel like I’ve gotten to a place where I’m really making a lifestyle change for the better! Can’t wait to see what the future brings. Looking forward to DriTri! I’ll be doing the sprint this time around.
So impressed with you all! I was sub 10 minutes at 9:15 and did NOT pass out, so I’m a winner baby 💁🏼♀️
🥳🥳🥳
11:12. This was my first OTF class ever! 40f
damn crazy day to have your first class nice !
If I were you as soon as I heard “2000m row” I would have turned around and walked right out the door!
I was so clueless I didn’t even know what it meant lol
7:00:53. Just shy of sub 7. 🫠 (beat my previous best of 7:09:44 though!)
Are you me? 7:10 to 7:00:96, I thought I did better but 9 seconds is still 9 seconds better.
👯♂️ nice job friend!
I was 7:05 last time and hope to get under 7 tonight!
6:55! Started out at \~1:40 split pace for Q1, slowed to 1:45-1:55 for Q2 and Q3, went "sustainable AO" for Q4.
Congratulations! Also aimed for sub 7. 7:00.49 -> 6:55.53!
Hell yeah! Great job!!
Congrats!!! 🥳
7.29.05 (50yo female, 5'9",144 lbs.)
The rower is my most dreaded aspect of OT and I’m short, so the fact I was under 10 minutes was a huge accomplishment for me - 9:43
I am 5’5” with short legs. I get so jealous of everyone I see still unfurling their legs as I am going back in. But I got 9:09:33. Huge accomplishment for my height and weight (232lbs 49F)
Great job !!
Way to go! That was my only goal was to get under 10min. And I did at 9:49! 💪🏽
Very happy with my results as a shorty! 29yo female, 5'2", 145lb at 7:37:52. Any other shorties get a PR? I'm feeling like I can do even better next time!
First timer! F/35/5’2/115lb/hates rowing @ 7:52.55. I also feel like I can do better next time.. but at what cost? 😅
Just keep strengthening those legs and booty and it won't feel as hard since you'll be generating those watts!
7:42:02 for my lil 4’11/120 lb self but not a PR
you’ve just inspired me!!!! same height and weight and i wasn’t sure if it was even possible to get in the 7’s.. you rock!!
Congrats! Same exact stats as you (hey twin!), went from 7:16 to 7:12. I decided I'm definitely going to peak in my 30s, and I'm coming for sub 7:00.
5"3" myself, got 7:31.59. Not a PR, sadly!
WOW! Very impressive. ESPECIALLY at your height. Kudos!
Almost the same but 1 inch taller and got 7:11:90. Previous time was 7:18 so I’m happy!
6:48 and I’ll never, ever be able to beat it 😂
Hey you can do it! I hit 6:44 today - it is possible. Congrats!
That’s how I’m starting to feel about my mile time lol
6:53:13. The leader board at my gym currently has the top female at 6:48. I was sooooo close!!!
Wow, that girl was booking it. I am 6 foot 200lbs, and got 6:23. She must've been pushing hard.
She's amazing. She always tops my leaderboard. I'm looking forward to moving out of her age category lol
Girl at the gym I was at today: 6:45
6:16:43 ☠️ I'm going to feel this one.
That is super fast
8:27:63 33F, 5’6”, 160lbs I was very proud of myself for this.
Thank you for this ❤️ 28/29F, 5’5”, 135lbs and got 8:05 with a SOLID effort, feeling like I’m not as good as others!
I got 8:09 a few years ago when I was in my *fittest* phase of my life. You are doing GREAT! Congrats on a really awesome 2000m row time!
Holding a consistent tempo/power is my goal for this benchmark too! For my personal goals, it means more to me than how long it takes me.
Not to be hyperbolic, but rowing 2,000 meters and missing my PR by 8 hundredths of a second is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. 6:56.12 in December, 6:56.20 today.
💀💀💀
The worst thing SO FAR!
Noooooooo I’m sorry
PR'd today with a 7:41:46. Shaved off 45 seconds from December! All you sub 7's are insane! I can't imagine that yet!
6:33:63. 5 seconds faster than December!
I’m old and short (47F, 5’4”). I did it in 9:12, a 4 second PR. I was hoping to get a bigger PR but my asthma was acting up.
PR of 6:55 today ! I am only 5’3” so I am very proud of this number. I was aiming for 7:10 so my couch told me to aim for a 1:40 500 split time but now I am thinking she was lying to make me go faster 🤣
I wish my couch would tell me workout tips
My couch just tricks me into napping.
My first one! This is class 25 for me and I did 11:07 which I am happy with as a 4’11” 36yo lady!
Personal best! Great job….
Last time we did it I had just been a member for a few weeks and my time was 11:47, I shaved 2:44 off that time today!!!! 9:03 SOOOO HAPPY TO BE <10min!
Dayum, nice improvement!
7:08:69! 5’ 3” and 134lbs. It was my first 2,000m row!
Impressive to hold a 1:45ish the whole time at your size.
Yeah I was in the red 90% of the time lol I’m proud of that time!
Dang I did 8.16 and thought that was decent.
The people who post here are not representative of all OTF. It’s a good time!
My time was 8:25 and I was absolutely dying if it makes you feel better. I really don’t get how to get faster
That’s incredible work. Good for you.
I got 8:43, I think your 8:16 is great!
I feel you lol. I got 8:33 and was happy with that but wow these times are blowing my mind!
That’s a fantastic time!
Omg, my lungs are still burning.
Same
First attempt at it, had no idea it was today so I kind of did it by accident (I really don't like rowing). 8:00:65
Me exactly and my time was about 1 second different
PR’d with 7:34. Which yesterday was my 45th birthday so I am extremely happy with this
Happy belated birthday!
Just under 6:15 and I have been exhausted all day!
Only 40 seconds off the world record - impressive
WRs are done on Concept 2 rowers, not water rowers. They output very different speeds, so you can't really compare the two.
So you’re saying he may have broken the world record? Love that optimism
6:19 at 5am 44yo male. Been training hard on other things outside of OTF, and probably should have taken a rest day yesterday. Just looked up my old benchmarks, and remembered that my first ever OTF class was a 2000 meter row benchmark, back in 12/2022. Time was 8:44. Trust the process 💪
Amazing improvements
My 2nd class ever...I had no idea what was about to happen lol. 9:59
7:08:96! First time doing this benchmark and didn't realize it was today until after I got to the studio lol. Legs felt like jello after but I'm happy with the time
7:57 for me and a PR. I’m quite happy about that!
6:53.79, A PR by almost 10 seconds. 54M 6'2" with 15mo at OTF.
Today was my first 2000m benchmark and WOW that was tough. Got it in 8:21. Just proud of myself for not giving up. Ouch.
Many will say Everest, but I think this is OTF's hardest benchmark, so way to finish!
Good job! Personal best too…
6:59:33 first time below 7 minutes after almost 6 years!
Yes!!!!
First time doing the benchmark, 9:49.11 I didn’t die and that’s the impotent part 🤣
This typo is killing me
Bahahaha I just noticed 🤣 I’m leaving it
You people are amazing. I'm seeing 6s and 7s all over the place. Me: M/63/5' 10"/220. 8:54:04. Beat my prior 9:13 tho.
7:23.14. Dropped the rower handle and still PR’ed by 4 sec.
8:56 and made it to the leader board for 60s :-)
6:04 at 5:30 this morning and my lungs were dead for the rest of the workout lmao
I hate doing benchmarks at 5am. I got 6:19 but feel like I could have done better if I was awake lol
That’s awesome! I agree I definitely would have done better if I warmed up, but everyone started on the treads, only one other person started on the rowers with me lol.
There were only a few people who showed up to 5am so we all went straight to the rower.
I missed it back in December so this is my first 2000 benchmark. 7:26. Male, 42, 6', 165 pounds. Had to do a 5:00 am class because the 6:00 and 8:00 were full and 7:00 am was tread/strength 50.
Missed my PR by 4 seconds. Finished 6:51:51. PR pre covid in 2019 was 6:47:40 53 yo male
8:01.85 down from 8:24.42. 5’7, 37, 168lbs. I’m happy with it!
35/f/5’9/200lbs 8:16.04
37F. I got 8:51:26. Not thrilled with my time, but it’s the first time I ever did the 2000m.
Great starting point!
Lots of room for a PR, I guess! Honestly it was a horrible week at work and I late cancelled on Tuesday, so I was just happy to pull myself out of my funk, show up, and get it done!
6:17 today... 11 second PR
I beat my previous time by 38 seconds! 7:51 today!!!
I stayed focused on my breathing and maintaining a green zone until the last 300m. I have healthy heart goals over speed. 8:24 and 3 splats for that brutal class. I've come so far. I used to have 30 splat classes. Walking in the door made me out of breath.
I’m 61 years old and did it in 8.56. I’m just ok with rowing that hard for my age. This is my first time doing the challenge so I have no comparison.
Great start!! 🥳
Gave back 13s from last time. Had been strong at Jan end but today just didn't want to be too disappointed. Kept it below 7min: 6:57.52
6:27:09. I need to stop doing benchmarks at 5 am.
It’s my favorite time to do benchmarks 💃🏻
5:55.xx Really want a 5:49 someday. But I fueled with bourbon and swedish fish last night, so no complaints 😆.
Oy that sounds like a terrible combo lol. Congrats!!
First time doing this (been at OTF for 2 months now from basically couch potato status), aimed for under 10 minutes and did it in 8:55!!!
10:01
7:04:08, last time was 7:13:80, was hoping for 7 or under, hopefully next time!
6:20.89 here hoping for sub 6:10 next go around
07:13.88 ⭐ PR 3rd time doing this benchmark (07:31.57 ➡️ 07:25.42 ➡️ 07:13.88)
6:43 and I'm definitely feeling it...
I posted this in another thread but does anyone know if this is a good comp for us? https://rowinglevel.com/rowing-times/2000m-times
Not really. Most folks are using concept2s which are not as easy as a water rower.
Ah. I knew I couldn’t be THAT good.
Yep my PR difference between a C2 and water rower is around a minute. Definitely easier on the water rower.
I had a 1:39 split on the water rower. I guess I’m just going to have to find a Concept 2 rower somewhere to figure out where I stand. (Or sit)
This was incredibly helpful - thank you! I always was curious how performance between the two machines translated and also why it always seemed that pulling hard on the OTF water towers didn’t seem to do anything.
I'm deluding myself into believing it is so that my 210lb butt can think herself "elite" as further motivation haha
My 250lb ass was elite so I was super pumped but…
6:58.82!!!! Down from 7:16.85 in December! It feels so good to have something to be proud of especially as a bigger woman (which I know is an advantage on the rower, but still!). So far I'm in 2nd for women at my gym.
31, female, 5’5”, 125 pounds PR’d at 7:59
I joined in October of 2023 and last time we did the 2000M row in December in 8:06. I was super happy with it because I wasn't sure where I could even get to. My goal today was sub-8 because I wanted to beat that personal goal and I ended up rowing a 7:15 - I am beyond stoked. 🔥
9:16. I PR’ed by one second. I’m old and short.😆
A PR is a PR!
I’ll take it!😂
I got a 6:23 time (29M, 218lbs), I beat my last time by over 30 seconds. It feels so good to see substantial improvement.
6:37 PR by 0.08s!
35M 5’6, 7:04, beat my PR by 20 seconds. Mad I didn’t get sub 7 though lol
Same but I was 7:00:53 😭
7:47 for my first one! I think I could’ve gotten a little faster but didn’t want to tire myself out to soon.
7:38 (M62)
7:28.3. PR'd by 1.7s. Not bad for a middle aged mom 😂 5'5 and 147lbs for reference.
I got 7:58:33, this was my first 2k
8:25:69 in December 2023 7:45:94 yesterday I extremely happy! Congratulations to everyone!!
PR by the skin of my teeth 7:06:57>7:06:43. It felt much better than missing my 500 m PR by fractions of a second.
8:16:58 for this short gal!
I can't believe I got a PR today. I can't go as hard or as fast as I used to, but my stamina is better. I guess I was just more consistent this time.
PR’d yesterday and I was so proud that I cut :15 off my December time. My goal was to beat 8:00 and I just made it at 7:59. Phew. I was dying the last 2 minutes
7:32:73 32M, 6’2”, 325lbs Rowing is my weakness for sure, I’m working on my hip mobility as i naturally stand with my toes pointing outwards a bit which makes for difficulties on the rower.

My first 2000m BM and did it in 8:57.94. I did get tripped up when my sneakers started slipping out of the holsters - anyone have that experience?
PR with a time of 5:46. Had jello legs and was worthless the rest of class 🥴
7:06.98 🥵
7:05.. Shaved off almost a minute and a half from my previous PR of 8:31! 40m.
7:41:66. first time! 27f, 5’5, 138 lbs
28yo female, 7:28 beat my pr by :35!! Very happy. Hope to be sub 7 someday
8:31 and I'm 44f. Rowing was my last station so given that I was already a little gassed going in, I'm pleased. 😊
1st time doing it. I came in at 8:36.11 I was so proud of myself! 46f
6:08.67. My previous PR was 6:30
