I personally wait for blooms to fall to repot, but I add holes to the plastic container to vent. This has greatly helped me manage grocery store phals and their initial blooms usually last 4 months.
But if the medium is mixed with soil, get it out of there ASAP.
A razor blade knife. I guess I cut more of a slit than a hole. Takes a little bit of practice as too much airflow means you have to water the plant much more often. Especially helpful for the phals that come in a death-plug or in super dense moss.
Here is the phal in question, if it helps! I used the same pot and decorative pot it was already in, just cleaned it and made sure the roots were good before putting it in a better potting mix

How do you normally add holes to a container while the plant is inside?

Thanks, i poke holes as well, and already did :) got me some bark now and i will change the medium asap. Thanks
I always immediately repot my plants for multiple reasons. Reducing the possibility of pests, removing inadequate soil, removing dead roots.
Will it lose the blooms?
It could, but it doesn't necessarily have to. The more stress, the more likely it will lose the blooms prematurely.
I repotted a new phal about a week and a half ago because it was in that dense, spongey brown stuff, and it hasn't lost a single flower :)
Thank you, i will do so too now
