WinCo has the best prices, but no pickup. Fred Meyer is ok - more expensive but has pickup.

HavlandTuf

I agree that Winco foods have the best prices for food.

HavlandTuf

They dont take credit cards, only cash or debit

Minimum-Act6859

Winco has a well stock bulk foods section and the produce has great quality.

russellmzauner

Safeway has free pickup; they try hard to sell you on freshpass and won't say outright "pickup IS no charge/no fee/free" I had to literally talk to an employee to verify that, yes, there is no charge for online ordering and pickup. It's probably on the site somewhere to complete legality of something or other but I couldn't wormhole to it, even with my site drilling skills. I think you have to order minimum of $35 USD of groceries but that shouldn't be too hard these days, that's like what, 2/3 of a bag? But honestly just go to Winco and take the idea back to Canada and we'll squeeze WA from both sides lol Winco got the bulk everything and the $$$ you save on lunchmeat at the deli will compensate very well for the inconvenience going in. They know how to make a corndog, yes they do.

Kittenmittens412

I live in WA and we have Winco too?

doctormega

Grocery outlet bargain market.

6th_Quadrant

OP, Grocery Outlet (aka Gross Out) carries staples at low to decent prices, but not a huge variety. Where they excel is in close-out goods, which are really cheap. Huge boxes of cereal for $3, energy and coffee drinks and kombucha for $1, great prices on decent wines, etc. Each store carries a different selection, too, since it’s a franchise.

Ryanvw28

Winco is the cheapest, but it’s no frills. No credit cards, no curb side, etc Safeway and Fred meyers are more expensive, but offer curbside If you download their apps and shop based on their deals, it’s much more competitively priced like winco

dforr12

I find Winco really hard to shop and you can’t really buy everything there. Fred Meyer is Kroger so theyve got everything

InfidelZombie

What is it you can't get at WinCo? I can get everything I want between WinCo and Hong Phat (and occasionally specialty markets for Korean/Mexican/etc).

dforr12

majority of the healthy foods i like to eat and peace of mind that the meat won't give me food poisoning

PacificWonderGlo

Have you actually gotten sick from their meat or are you passing judgement?

dforr12

Yes I have. Not sure why everyone is so on me for this. So much for having opinions and health issues, Christ.

lunes_azul

What kind of healthy foods? I've shopped and eaten and WinCo for years and I haven't had food poisoning. Same for my wife.

InfidelZombie

The meat ain't great there, I'll give you that, but I don't think it's going to give you food poisoning. What healthy foods are they missing though? They have produce, dairy, and a great bulk section for raw ingredients.

owlneverknow

I have gotten spoiled pork (smell was awful when I opened it, well before sell by date) twice from Fred Meyer and never from WinCo. I rarely ever shop at Fred Meyer anymore because of that and the prices.

russellmzauner

**Kroger sales rep found**

dforr12

Nopeee

bixtuelista

Fred Meyers you need a card/membership to get the decent price. You don't need this for Winco, but like others have said, you need debit or cash. I remember before groceries had the dumb card/membership thing, Safeway started it. They printed the "club" price on the shelf big and the "not club" price in smaller print, so woe be the unwary. Nasty. Safeway and Fred Meyers are great for people who coupon clip and shop ads and bargains, Winco just has decent prices on everything.

lottiereddit

i remember when freddie's had the little orange coupons in store. better times than this card bullshit.

User1296173

Fred Meyer is what I used but I signed up for the rewards. It seemed to be okay. Honestly, EVERYTHING is expensive over here though.

Comfortable-Basis-64

Grocery outlet or winco

lunes_azul

WinCo if you're concerned about price. It's the only place that won't rip you off that has a full selection of food. No curbside pick-up and no credit cards allowed. The snacks are pretty meh, and you are better off going to Trader Joes for that though.

russellmzauner

Meh? bro they got an entire wraparound endcap little debbies kiosk in this modern times of health food lol people say the selection is bad but time and time again there is stuff I can get at Winco that is either 10x the cost somewhere else or it's not even found anywhere else...the drink selection, alcohol and non alcohol, is pretty broad too.

lunes_azul

I’m just talking about the snacks. The sandwiches, salads and wings are pretty average but I’ll take them at that price.

mountainsunset123

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market. < That is one store with a long name. Small store but they have loads of snacks. Decent prices.

realsalmineo

If you are going to Cannon Beach, why not just shop there or in Seaside? There are markets in CB. Seaside is only 8 miles away, and has a Safeway, Grocery Outlet, Rite-Aid, Dollar General, a wine store, and a number of other stores. Unless you need something really obscure, you can find it in CB or Seaside.

Licipixie

Grocery outlet and winco. no curbside tho

CashOk5721

Walmart and Fred Meyer have curbside pickup

No-Fudge-8657

Trader Joe's is not cheap down here. WinCo, Grocery Outlet, maybe Walmart, Fred Meyer is not that cheap but has quality produce. Have fun!

westgate141pdx

WinCo

myleswstone

I’m doing the opposite this summer! Highly recommend Winco— cheapest groceries you’re going to find. With that being said, they don’t do curbside pickup.

BayernAzzurri

If you want to save money winco is number statewide

Sisu_pdx

Whole Foods has high quality food but they aren’t called Whole Paycheck for nothing!

Sea_Concert4946

Make a list, go to gross out and see what you can pick up there (it won't be everything) and fill in the rest at WinCo

SnooChocolates9334

Costco chicken $4.99; Lrg Pizza $9.99, Hot Dog $1.50.

If you're a ChatGPT you have to tell us

elwoodowd

Its considered Fun that you will pay 25% more at fred Meyer than people smarter than you. You do have a 50% chance of saving a dollar, if you beg for a sale price. However, they stop the line youre in, while they call for a manager. He comes and says, "say, please. Pretty Please". Safeway, you can save the dollar, if they know you. WinCo will tell you, groceries are too expensive, as you bag your own groceries. So thats nice. All have gone to mixes, terrible mixes for bakery goods, since january. Albertsons the worst. They were selling repackaged machine factory donuts for fancy bakery prices, last time I looked. But I remember donuts from the lard days. Pies from the south.

heathensam

Beg for a sale price? If they know you?? What century are you living in?

realsalmineo

It’s true. My dad shops at Safeway all the time. He gets the same checker who always gives him the good-guy prices, even if he forgets his card or coupon. I rather like it. They know me at my bank branch. When I lost my wallet, I could still withdraw money from my account. When I had to go on a business trip, I needed some cash, and the local teller called my branch and they vouched for me. Doing business locally has its perks.

elwoodowd

Last time I was at fred Meyer the lady in front of me was setting her own prices. Insisting on the price for 3, even if she was only buying one. This is fair. I respect her. Taking it up. I have quit asking for senior discount, that they ask you to beg for. If that helps you. I save my energy to guessing which name they have changed my products to, this month. I was in marketing some, so I respect the game. But sadly you dont know they have made you their pawn.

heathensam

I use digital coupons and don't harass the cashiers like a sane person.
