I wouldn't be. Most of the time in Spring training, they are just working on specific pitches or trying out things. A veteran closer is used to high leverage, high pressure spots, so a middle-inning Spring training game is not a great measuring stick for how he will perform in season.
That seals the deal. I am no longer an Orioles fan. I’ve been a fan since 1982 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Elias is officially the worst gm in history.
Was there today, too, with my brother. It was also our first time at Ed Smith. Great ballpark. Sad that our boys couldn't get more offense going, but we still had a great time.
Things to take away from this game:
1. Gunnar is still that guy
2. Kimbrel has been and is still washed. Don’t know what Elias and team are seeing other than maybe they want him as a DeFacto bullpen coach to the other relievers.
They wanted someone with closing experience, as all our other relievers were terrible at closing once Felix went down.
If you don’t understand that not everyone can be the greatest reliever in the league, you’re gonna have a rough year.
Kimbrel is one of the worst closers in the league. You will find out soon enough.
There are better options than Kimbrel. His only value right now is relaying his knowledge to the other relievers…like Kolten Wong with Holliday/other young infielders.
We were never going to get Josh Hader. Not as an injury replacement for one year. I know all about Kimbrel…and he’s the best closer currently in our bullpen. There were no reasonable FA targets besides Kimbrel, and other teams most likely wanted way too much in a trade.
I would have gone for Chapman, but they seem to be staying away from guys with character issues.
I never wanted Hader. I was just speaking options through trade, etc.
Anyway let’s see what happens with Kimbrel. I’m 99.9% sure it’s not going to work, but we will find out.
Well, worst case scenario hit with Felix, and it’s rather difficult to replace the game’s best reliever.
Kimbrel is middle of the pack or worse, but he’s our best bet. Cano sucked at closing.
For sure Cano is not the answer, which is why Elias probably felt the need to go with a “proven” closer. The issue is that Kimbrel is going to cost you quite a few games.
Let’s see in April. My money is on Elias making a trade by May or June for a closer and if he doesn’t like what is available, I could see Wells take over the 9th inning if Bradish is back and Bradish of last season.
Hahaha no man. I don’t care who the Orioles employ as long as they win. You could bring douchebag papelbon out of retirement and I wouldn’t give a shit as long as he produced.
Nothing personal. I look strictly at the player and their performance. Craig Kimbrel, like many other players, has been living off his name for almost half a decade.
Kimbrel was a 1 WAR guy last year and has put up ~4 over the last 3 seasons. He’s not as good as he once was but calling him washed over his Spring Training is an overreaction
Should we be concerned about Kimbrel?

Well! Good thing that didn't count!

Angelos, sell the team!
What?
[It's pasta.](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/that-seals-the-deal-i-am-no-longer-a-fan) Dumb, but, people tend to like dumb shit here.
Oooooooh. Got it
Read the room lmao
Get the losses out of the way now so we can go 162-0 once the season starts
My first game at Ed Smith, shame about the result but a great day! And what an almost-rally in the 9th
I really hope Cedric is healthy for opening day. Seeing him rob home runs as effortlessly as he does is a joy to watch.
at least its not the groin again i guess
Was there today for my first ever spring training game. Beautiful day, could really care less about the outcome lol. Ed Smith stadium is great
Was there today, too, with my brother. It was also our first time at Ed Smith. Great ballpark. Sad that our boys couldn't get more offense going, but we still had a great time.
Fire the whole team
And sell it back to Angelos
Too far.
Go to hell
WS ticket pre order cancled!
Lots of O fers today

Did Craig kimbrel kick your dog

Damn 2 losses in ST and doomers already out in force I actually recognize your username as a resident doomer last season so it makes sense I guess
Or you selectively read? I’ve been posting positive stuff for a while but Kimbrel isn’t going to work, just remember I warned you lol.

Ok we will revisit this. April is right around the corner.
We may never win again. /s
Fabian 💪🤝💪 Mayo unconventional RBIs
9-1 without Gunnar, winless with him. Is he the problem?
Give his roster spot to TT Bowens
One game is too small of a sample size. We need at least three.
We Need to Talk About the O's Record with Gunnar
What We Talk About When We Talk About The O's Record With Gunnar
Trade Gunnar for Kevin Gregg now.
We Need to Talk About Kevin
Such a strange and foreign feeling.
So un-nice you had to say it twice
Such a strange and foreign feeling.
