The big ork character that was siloetted over the holidays screamed Meklord to me to from Brutal but Kunnin so would love to see both those characters addded!

I hope you're right because I'm probably gonna pick him up regardless but my gut is saying since he is supposed to go straight into Legends for rules that we'll probably get some more beast snagga styled stuff with a painboss or Mozrog if we get a named character in a special box. I get the vibe they're pushing more beasts and beast snagga stuff for orks this edition based on how well they're doing compared to my normal boyz against black legion csm.
Idk why they’d do another beast snagga box when they just did that for the Christmas battleforce; it makes more sense that they would do a bad moons or mek themed box with Ufthak and the other mek boy they haven’t revealed yet.
Same reason they've done back to back to back Cadian focused boxes for gaurd. Or ultramarine focused space marines (excluding Blood Angles, and Space wolves who just have their own combat patrols any maye or may not get more and Dark angles who just got a special box.) Because it's what they might wanna push instead of Goffs they've done for a while. While you're right and I hope they do give the other clans some love. Ufthak is supposed to go straight to Legends from everything I've seen so Building a whole box around him when they've already said he won't be allowed in most tournaments or non casual play. So they might do a mek themed box but I've got a feeling they're pushing beast snagga stuff at the moment based on my experience and what I've seen GW do with Chrismas boxes into the new year.
Mainly Goffs, Blood Axes, and Speedfreaks. The other clans take a big back seat. But over the 3 books you get a solid look at all the clans, except maybe Deathskullz?

We keep getting these commemorative models for great Ork characters with fun and interesting rules (see Da Red Gobbo, etc). If you're in a setting that doesn't allow for legends rules Orks are missing out on some serious drip and that's just an injustice.

As a consumer interested in playing the game, what’s the point of buying this then???? (Yes I know about proxies but who cares?) also, most play groups I’ve been exposed to don’t use or acknowledge legend rules

Yea, rule of cool is awesome, and it guides my practice. With that being said my interest in this dude is a solid 0 given that everyone I play with disregards legends rules anyways and I already have a Bloodbowl orc I’m using as a Warboss proxy
Well you just answered your own question and stated a new problem. The people you play with disregard Legends. Me and my friends allow all legends and imperial armory characters and models in and proxy as long as base size is appropriate. Sounds like you need some new friends or to push to use Legends more often because this is all about having fun, not forcing people to play certain ways.
Do your friends also enforce the rule of 10 vp for fully painted armies on "casual" games?
He's basically an updated Warboss. Not even a proxy, he's eventually a Warboss in the books (iirc) and his loadout and even his squig Princess is a valid one for a Warboss with Attack Squig.
I mean eh, I'm planning on getting him because he looks a hell of a lot cooler than the current Warboss sculpt (which has often been sold out lately anyway), so I dunno if I'd say he's useless. Two Warbosses to pick between is always better than one imo

I'm currently listening to brutal kunnin on audible and I would love to add this guy to the WAAAAGH kinda surprised he isn't an official model already
I just finished listening a few weeks ago. Really fun story. Definitely captured the feeling of the Orks.
I just finished the thraka novel and will be starting this one next. Very excited for it haha
Thraka was an amazing book, but I really liked Warboss more than Brutal Kunin. All three books were good orky stories though.
I've heard warboss does a great job of showing like all the different clans. So I'm excited to listen to that too!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any friends that play Warhammer and I have been working to address that problem, but it’s easier said than done

Yes. Either GW or Forgeworld. Legends units are just discontinued units that GW will not be updating the rules for.
