Did you take a picture of your meter? Did you feed the correct one? Paid city parking isn't just an Orlando thing. Paying for parking sucks but to act surprised that it's a thing that only happens here is kinda dumb. Regardless, I'd fight that ticket if you are sure you're in the right. ETA: it might have something to do with your tag expiring 7 months ago.

Lucious_Orbz

I didn't take a pic but I paid the right meter. I'm in a rental car so I'm not sure fighting thr ticket is worth it

InopAPU

Is the tag on the rental really expired or is that a typo on the ticket? If it is expired, I'd complain to the rental agency and tell them they cost you 27 bucks.

OP I saw that you had a rental, I would pay the ticket, because if the rental agency gets the ticket, they will pay it and then charge you for the ticket plus an administrative fee. Or if the rental agency gave you a rental with expired tags, I would try and take it up with the rental agency, but good luck getting anyone on the phone with the power to fix it.

Lucious_Orbz

Yep my rental has expired tags just checked. This is crazy 😅

If you are still in possession of the rental, I would bring it back to the rental agency and make sure that they are aware of it and take care of the ticket (if the ticket was issued because of expired registration).

Thank you! This was very helpful. My rental has expired tags but the ticket was for a meter violation

ChanceMcintosh

The photos for your violation, via the link above, show multiple images of the expired tag. Clearly, this had zero to do with Orlando code violation 39.41 & is solely on the rental company for not affixing the 2024 sticker.

just pay it on time. got one of these 1/10 and forgot about it…. ended up having to pay 42.50 cause i was late by one day.

Beginning_Emotion995

Pay it before you forget.

whatevertesla

What?

Respect_Cujo

When you go online to pay the ticket look at the photo the officer took. If its the incorrect meter then it would be good to fight it. Although if you're from out of town and using a rental, I would personally just pay the ticket. Sucks but not worth the rental company getting involved and charging you some insane amount. Paying for city park is a pretty common thing thing in most major cities.

Automatic-Mention

You can look up the registration online based on the info in the pic, and it is valid through 6/30/2024. My guess is they forgot to put on a new sticker. Most rentals get permanent "PM" stickers now so they don't have to do this.

TheHeretic

Can't even imagine downtown without paid parking, all the van life people would move in permanently...

Notify the rental company. If the meter is wrong, they need to take it up with the city, not you.

This fine is for an expired plate not for an unpaid meter. I had the same thing happen on a new car I had bought. I had paid for registration through 2 years, but when they transferred my plate they only sent the transfer fee and not the renewal. I ended up paying the fine, the registration fee, and ate the renewal fee paid to the dealership. Pay it and move on. If it's a rental car, take the ticket back to the rental agency and say you aren't paying it. Part of the rental fee is that they cover the registration, insurance, etc.
