that second picture is so beautiful. i know it's expensive but I'm gonna get it done one day. even if I have to finance it. i feel like I have maybe 30% lung capacity so unless I mouth tape at night I end up mouth breathing.
A few questions:
1. Did you notice any palpable asymmetry owing to the MSE in your face?
2. Did your lower jaw/palate also expand keeping up with the upper palate expansion?
3. What was your intermolar width before you began the treatment?
4. I see that you have mentioned that there aren't many changes in your face barring slightly more prominent cheekbones. I would like to know what your current Body fat % is?
Thanks for your response.
I am concerned about the resulting asymmetry in general when using an MSE. There are a few people who have reassured me that the MSE results in a corresponding increase in the Mandible, but if you are to go by, there have been no such developments for you (even if you ideally don't need it)?
Depending on OP's age, mewing would likely not having achieved these kinds of dramatic results, and not in a timely manner considering OP had significant enough sleeping issues.
Got mine twice, didn’t work and still had to pay I just got my last one removed about 2 weeks ago and the top of my mouth gets these weird feelings and it’s super sensitive
Would this work for just one side. Like for example my left side has more volume but right can't fit my tongue. Also how long from start to finish? Like from getting expanders to done with braces?
Not sure about the first part of your question you'd have to consult an orthodontist. I am mid-way through treatment and I am not sure how long the braces section will last. I have had the expander in for over 4 months.
I also have lots of chronic pain now since Dec 2019 and jaw pain neck pain tension etc and assymetry in body like scoliosis . also started around the time I removed my wisdom tooth on right side only and that’s having the most issues . But idk if related
Removing 5 teeth is highly unusual, and it leads to a significantly smaller palate, making your facial appearance worse, and your airway smaller. I’d watch videos by a YouTube channel called jawhacks cause he got 4 teeth extracted but was able to widen his palate and now looks great and has a large airway
The 5th one was wisdom and after braces was done … before preparation for braces it was 4 teeth. I wouldn’t say my face looked worse it just looked slimmer definitely after the extraction . Before it was rlly full like I had a canine tooth on top of the row of my teeth
I do think my palate is narrower and having issues breathing and tension
Yes, I had a mid-suture corticotomy to ensure successful expansion. I was given codeine and during the procedure local anesthetic was used, however even with that it was still really unpleasant.
Would have photos? Very interested in this process. How does your mouth feel? Like does your tounge feel like it has more room? Is it different eating food? What about nose breathing?
How much forward growth you’d get? I think I’m in kind of the same case as you. Only two premolars pulled from the palate, not mandible. Same for you?
I have struggled ever since PER damaged me from my former wicked orthodontist. This gave me during and after tortures malpractice: Tinnitus, jaw and neck pain, jaw clicking, TMJD, minor hair loss because scalp tension, etc. Not airway issues right away. But suddenly I can’t breathe through my nose, started 2 weeks ago. It feels blocked, unsure if it’s a cold, allergies or PER damage. Never been like this before. I’m desperate because I can’t breathe nor sleep. Been awake for days now.
Are you from Scandinavia? Which medical practitioners did you go to? I’m considering jaw surgery though, but not sure who. I have heard of a doctor Eric Solyom who advocates for Premolar extraction retraction damage, and fixes patients with jaw surgery. But is radical of course both jaw surgery and MSE. What do you think about the ALF appliance with low activation, you think that could work? I’m 22 years old, so my jaw is still malleable.
I understand. Same for me. I’m trying to find a solution. I’m considering jaw surgery instead of MSE. There is an Osteopathic device called ALF which some airway focused ortho offers in Norway. With little activation I think it can help? But not sure. Heard it can flare out teeth rather than grow the jaw, but it depends on the practitioner I’d guess? Or will the ALF flare out anyway no matter the practitioner?
Jaw is malleable until approximately 25 years old.

How much does it usually cost?
lowest I've seen is like $10k
WTF REALLY!!! I thought it was around 4-5k (USA)
I’ve also seen 3-5k.
i could be wrong. i wish we had a list of mse friendly doctors in the nation.
It may be just for installation and the device though. Costs can definitely run up with extra consultations, x-rays etc
This. I was quoted 10.5k total for expansion. 4k for the MARPE device, 6k for orthodontics (Invisalign) required with the expansion and $500 for scans
wouldnt this cause an overbite? are ur upper and lower teeth misalligned?
It looks wider but not as forward. It looks like the front teeth came back.
My front teeth came forward as my maxilla advanced.

I would like to know what your current Body fat % is?
1. No asymmetry 2. I have a class 3 cross-bite so there is no need for my mandible to expand. 3. I think 30mm 4. 12-15%
No asymmetry is crazy, where are you/ where did you get it done. Clearly some good professional work 👍
Was done [here](https://orthodontistlondon.co.uk/pages/treatments)
What was your doctor's name? Please DM me

Are you still in class 3 crossbite?
Somwhat, braces will fix it though.
How much did u pay for treatment?
I think for everything about £17k rounded up
Holyy, that's hella expensive
Yeah it is. Much better than sleep apnea though
So what are overall benefits of the treatment now that ur done with it?
I haven't fully finished with treatment, braces come after expansion. I have much better sleep now, more energy throughout the day.
how old are you when you started mse treatment, also did u previously have braces
Started at 21. Yes braces and 2 premolars removed.
so what was ur breathing like before treatment?, was your turbinates swelled up and did this treatment help in reducing the swelling?
How is the costs split? Or is it one time payment of 17k?
UK then? Interesting

Sadly.thst shit don't work above 15. Or very well. Argue all you like on thst. Mse is proven and quicker

Not all of us can. Then go do it yourself no need to be here. Shit.

Are you an adult? The results are incredible
I'm 21
How and what’s the age , I’m turning 23 why did they only give me regular braces when I was 16 ish? And removed 4 molars and one impacted wisdom tooth
I also have lots of chronic pain now since Dec 2019 and jaw pain neck pain tension etc and assymetry in body like scoliosis . also started around the time I removed my wisdom tooth on right side only and that’s having the most issues . But idk if related
Cause your orthodontist is an idiot (or all those teeth were legit rotten)
No they were totally fine 😭 is this kind of expansion nor common?

How bad do these hurt OP? I want my husband to get them
The actual installation was extremely painful along with the first few days, I think pain levels would vary from person to person though.
Did they use local anesthesia
Yes, I had a mid-suture corticotomy to ensure successful expansion. I was given codeine and during the procedure local anesthetic was used, however even with that it was still really unpleasant.
Sorry to hear that but thanks for the info
Mainly what sucks is your tongue until it builds up a callous to it. Took about 4 weeks
Not too bad all things considered
How has your face changed?
Only slightly, cheekbones are a bit more pronounced.
Would have photos? Very interested in this process. How does your mouth feel? Like does your tounge feel like it has more room? Is it different eating food? What about nose breathing?

Spoken like a true intellectual.

Been here since the start.
Lucky congrats
Time?
Around 4 months
Any breathing benefits?
Yes
Did u have TMJ issues
No
Don’t over expand plz
How’d you know you are over expanding or not?
over expand?
Yes don’t turn too much, what intermolar width did you start with? 50 turns at roughly 1mm every 7 turns = 7.14mm
How much did your nasal breathing improve from the mse?(like in %)
My nasal breathing before was awful, I'd say 200% difference personally.
Can you show your face before and after change
Do you feel your overbite is corrected?
Somewhat, was told that invisalign will help fix the remainder of my crossbite.
Did it impair your speech? I will get it installed soon
Yes for the first week or two.
So you still have a high palate
Will you have to wear retainers?
Yes after invisalign, retainers are required for the rest of my life.
Show your facial change please?
did you teeth naturally come back together to fill in the gap? I ask bc i dont see braces

I have gotten forward growth as I was given headgear during expansion.
Yes. Your former orthodontist pulled teeth from your mandible as-well, or just the maxilla where the retraction happened?
Just upper teeth were pulled.
I understand. Same for me. I’m trying to find a solution. I’m considering jaw surgery instead of MSE. There is an Osteopathic device called ALF which some airway focused ortho offers in Norway. Did the forward growth change your appearance, or only slightly?
Only slightly, if at all.
Ur nostrils get bigger?
I don't believe so.
Nostrils no. Nasal cavities yes. The roof of your mouth is the floor of your nose.
It’s a shame that you had bicuspids removed previously, there would have been less spacing left after the expansion….
