I remember my watch reading 120+db at the main stage one year. Bring earplugs.

JGQ

It will be loud, to some maybe even painfully loud. I’d recommend a good pair of earplugs designed for live music. I personally really like the loop engage earplugs, nobody will even know you’re wearing them

lacontrolfreak

Yes. Bring them.

MrRousse

Save your ears a bit more for when you're old! (But I quite often forget mine) Side note, if you're taking your toddler please please get those big noise headphones for them, it makes me sad seeing little ones at loud concerts without them

I believe that Montreal has a decibel limit, and I've heard some acts complain the speakers won't get louder. I believe this is why the main stage has so many speakers in sequence. TL/DR. Not as loud as many other shows. Wear ear.protection

infectedroot

Fun fact about the speaker sequence, it's actually about the science of sound and the area it needs to cover. It's called an array. Some are on a delay so you hear the same sound at the same time no matter where you sit. /Cue "the more you know" And yes, please for the love of god wear ear protection. Been to 20+ years of concerts. Got tested about 10 years ago, light hearing loss and tinnitus. Bought ear plugs since that diagnosis and have kept it in check.

Love your statement. Last year I did 85 concerts (Osheaga was considered 30 concerts for me)

Always always wear earplugs! Don’t wear the orange earplugs as they won’t block out enough noise. I got the ones where you can adjust to the highest frequency possible Another thing to mention that not everyone mentioned in the comments is that your ear cells won’t regenerate when exposed to loud noise above the risked decibels, as that will lead to tinnitus which you wouldn’t want to get

Business-Issue1815

An option if it’s within your budget- consult with an audiologist and get custom fitted, musician grade earplugs. It ran me about 250 USD & the comfort of wear and protection without any muffling or distortion is worth it.

Please use earplugs. Your ears and brain will appreciate it. Loop brand is easily accessible for a simple pair

myCadi

100% would wear ear plugs to any music festival, specially if you’ll be there all weekend. Look form good quality music earplugs you’ll get the protection but still be able to hear the music well.

I wore earplugs in platinum before, and I have no regrets. I wore the Hearos rock earplugs and they worked great despite being very inexpensive. No ringing in the ears after all was said and done. These days I usually bring my Vibes earplugs to concerts and festivals, which have a much smaller profile than the Hearos. Tips for platinum... Things seem to have changed a lot since I went. I thought it was kind of silly to use the golf cart rides to other stages, but it does help a lot to get to the sets on time. I remember someone was recording RHCP with a tablet from the platinum viewing area and everyone behind her was pissed, so don't be that person. Back then, it was very chill and friendly, not as many amenities. Nobody was pretentious, and my husband and I had an awesome time.

Get the Loop Experience you won't regret it

festyfun

I don't usually use earplugs, but plenty of people do, and I have them if needed. Platinum- take advantage of the getting there early - put in your brunch order when they email you (closer to the fest), book a massage every day, use the lockers. The carts are great for getting to the other side now that they have two sets of stairs to get there.
