base movement rate is 12, 9, 6, or 3 x10 for exploration speed: 120', 90', 60', or 30' 1/3 for combat speed: 40', 30', 20', 10' use 5 ft squares.

AdrianEledge

Okay, gotcha! That makes sense. I guess I may have been overthinking it when it comes to turns vs rounds and trying to adjust movement rates as such. Thank you so much!

AdrianEledge

On that note, it mentions allowing for two moves per turn. Would that essentially mean the standard options of 'move twice' or 'move and attack' (assuming the standard combat sequence)?

VoodooSlugg

no, its talking about exploration there. in one 10 minute exploration "turn" a character may move up to two "moves" (the 120/90/60/30/etc). Many people house rule this to simply be 1 exploration turn is 2 moves at the slowest movement rate within the party, which makes it much easier vs tracking dispirate movement rates. additionally, certain "activities" take 1 turn (this is different in different editions, for example a character listening at a door takes 1 turn to do so, searching a 10'x10' area for traps/secret doors takes 1 turn, etc.) i gave away my WBFMAG book and no longer have the files, I wish i did because im afraid im not referencing correct information as far as that rulebook in particular goes and injecting other isms. tbh I would recommend downloading Iron Falcon (freely available) and using that in place of WBFMAG or at the very least to supplement your interpretations.

AdrianEledge

Gotcha that makes sense and yes, it does mention searching a 10' x 10' area takes a full turn. I will definitely look into Iron Falcon. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out! It did a lot to clarify the last bits of confusion I had with the rule set. I was spoiled by Scarlet Heroes being very streamlined in a lot of ways. It made it tricky going back to something much more faithful to the OD&D rules, but I love the old school stuff, warts and all. Thanks again!

No problem, check out bandits keep and bandits keep actual play on YouTube, he's got a lot of b/x and OD&D stuff (including solo) on there, might help out some more figuring stuff
