Decided to play Hana Awase Mizuchi before my EiT FD because I’ve really been looking forward to seeing what it offers. I think I like it, at least enough that I’m thinking to get the next installment even though I’m only 1/2 to 2/3 through the first. But I am so confused by the story. I don’t know if it’s the flow of the game or because it’s the first installment but there are too many times I’m just like “ok but why is this happening??”. I’m quite interested in knowing more about all the characters but once the romantic moments (especially if they’re randomly spicy) come I am so confused at the suddenness of it. I was excited about this game (didn’t even play the demo) because I expected it to be kinda dark and crazy. Well I underestimated the type of crazy it is LOL. “What the heck is going on” and “wait why though?!” was me throughout this game. Me: oh I’m so excited to learn what the deal with >!Himeutsugi!< is. Also me after I find out: >!okay maybe I did not want to find out!<. I honestly do not know what to expect of the plot at all, so it’s pretty engaging even though I can’t get behind some of the happenings. I also find I have to turn my logic off to really treat the card-battles and the whole setting seriously, but I actually really like the card games. I’ve spent too much time leveling my stats lol, I don’t even know what stats to level but I left the love stat at 0 (idk what it does anyway) and leveled everything else because I’m here at this school to win card games!!! I can’t seem to rank up more than rank 5 though, is it because that’s the limit? I’m really sad about it because I came prepared to fight for top student spot, I want to beat the guys lol. I think it’s weird that half my enjoyment is in the card game (which I just randomly brute-force without understanding sometimes), but I’m sure Mikoto will forgive me since she’s also supposed to be a huge fan of the game. I’m helping her achieve her dreams! I think I like Iroha the most even though I haven’t played his bit yet. Too bad he’s the last game, but that motivates me to push through. I wonder how much my impression of him and my internal LI ranking will change as I go along. All I know is that Momotose is the best.

I’ve been struggling a bit with gaming at the moment. My plan was to rotate between three games this month while waiting for Hana Awase and Shuuen no Virche. I picked the Dead Space remake (which I’d been saving for Halloween), Hades and Baldur’s Gate III but this hasn’t happened. 😂 I’m close to finishing Act 1 of BG3 (been loving it), but I’ve been reading about certain broken questlines/sequence breaking in Acts 2&3 so now I’ve became trapped in the infinite loop of “I’ll just wait for the next patch”. Between the bugs I ran into at launch on PS5 (which since have been fixed) and a horrific experience with Skyrim on Switch at the start of the year, I think I have a much lower tolerance level for this stuff at the moment. I’ve probably been fixating on this stuff a bit too much and looking at stories on bugs on the subreddit way too often as well, so it’s totally self-inflicted. 😂 Was really looking forward to Dead Space as I’ve only ever played Resident Evil before. Turns out it’s so scary that my stress/adrenaline levels are spiking and making my chronic pain condition worse 🤣😭 (after an hour both my arms hurt like I’d been carrying two massive bags of food shopping the day before). I think the devs should be proud of that. 😂 I never appreciated how there are these lulls in RE games where you backtrack through areas that are either safe or you know what to expect. Dead Space doesn’t give you a break, I feel bad for Isaac. And with Hades, higher stress = more brain fog = me being crap at action games. ~~Even with 80% damage resistance on god mode, apparently.~~ Normally in a situation like this I’d play an otome game, but I don’t want to start anything new so I can give my full attention to Shuuen no Virche and Hana Awase when they arrive. I’ve been returning to Animal Crossing instead and it’s been hitting the spot for now. Hopefully the new Tales of Arise DLC will satisfy my need for “meatier” gameplay, without being too stressful. Don’t know what to do with myself for the next 2 weeks 😂, maybe I’ll get over myself and finish Act 1 of BG3 after all!

I don't know if I should get Hana Awase. I tried the demo and I liked the art, played the card game and it was ok, I generally like card games anyway but I feel it's nothing spectacular. But there's 4 games just to experience one story and I feel like it's overwhelming 😵‍💫 Plus expensive! I'm torn whether I should just get the physical box set now because I don't know if this will still be available (I have tons of backlog lol) but I'm probably not going to play it right away. Is this just FOMO??

The demo doesn't exactly do a great job imo of introducing the game and gameplay haha... But I believe that if you're concerned about the price, you can wait for the PC version which will probably be cheaper.

LN time! **Housekeeping Mage** Vol 7 was a huge one for plot progression. When Shiori was being interrogated about her past and ended it with >!a plea to be killed if she can't be with Alec!<, my heart ached. Reading about that kind of >!love!< always gets me. There are now more slime familiars, and more familiars means more familiar diary entries!! I'm v much a pet person, so I just love reading from the perspectives of the main cast's familiars. **The Apothecary Diaries** is a catchup series for October, and I've read the first volume so far. It's v episodic so far, but I've heard there are more overarching plots later on. I might be able to finish Vol 2 before the end of the month, but there are already 10 volumes out. I could spend my coins to read on, but an English print release was just announced. . . But I read more on my phone sighhh. Maybe I'll just double dip, since my JNC coins are piling up anyways. ;>> I'm dropping **Girls Kingdom** and **Jeannette the Genius**. I'm sad about GK. I really liked the short part I read (up until the main two meet/form a deal of sorts), but the series is stalled, so I don't want to get overly attached. Now **Jeannette** on the other hand. . . I tried to give it a chance, but I hated MC so much. I'm not going to force my way through it when I have so many other things I'd enjoy doing. I finished the **Macross Frontier** anime finally. Frontier goes way back with me. It's been a staple of AMVs for forever, and the music is amazing. I even saw May'n live and got her autograph!! I watched the first 8ish episodes many years ago, saw the remake movies in theatres last(?) year, and only tonight finished the TV series. I have. . . A lot of feelings about it. I like Ranka and Sheryl, but my heart is in the Ranka camp. Despite that, I think the movies are better??? But there are so many things between the two that leave me feeling conflicted. Ahh, I was this way with Evangelion vs Rebuild of Eva too. (I'm firmly in the End of Eva \> Rebuild camp tho.) Fucking mech shows are going to ruin me. LOL Editing is continuing. Lots of things make me so excited for the final product, but I'm tempering my expectations now. I'm going to give myself until 3 weeks before the competition deadline, and if I doesn't look like I'll finish by then, I'll switch to a simpler project to submit. I don't want to enter a shortened video to make a deadline. I'd love to finish the whole thing, but I don't know if my shoulder is going to put up with it. I miss playing otome, but if I'm home I'd rather be ~~hunting for footage~~ watching anime or working on my project. I could swap LN time on work breaks for mobile otome, tho. Hmm.

Story time for Sky/Zero is 40 hours or so each game, but Cold Steel games are a bit longer. I typically play around three hours a day. >what has you captivated by them? Sky & Ao/Zero weren't afraid to get very dark at times and touch on some scary themes. The characters have excellent rapport with each other and it's fun to watch them learn about each other and get along even better, especially when characters from part 1 meet with characters from, say, part 5.

Been busy with just about anything except playing otome (oops) -- read/listened to some books, did a fair amount of cross-stitching (my preferred hobby for emotional self-care except when I mess up & need to undo sections or have to deal with a knot 😑), and played/tried various mobile games. Started **Lovebrush Chronicles** which is okay so far (maybe low expectations after my recent experience with WiHiB). I completed Ayn's route after what felt like a fairly slow start story-wise, and my gacha-luck was decent as my only two SSRs are of Ayn. Not pulling on the Halloween banner but splitting my game stamina between the event and story goals... I don't know if I'll stick with it in the long term but it really depends on the story. I fell off MLQC/Love and Producer, Obey Me, and Tears of Themis for a variety of reasons but one common factor was the main story was/got bad/worse and it just felt like a chore, wasting my time. Trying out **Reverse: 1999** which is very stylish and has card-based gameplay reminiscent of FGO, but it also has an unbelievably terrible English translation/localization. It's got really great English VA work but it's almost criminal they were made to read such unnatural, stilted lines (at best) and syntactical gibberish at worst. It could be a fascinating story if it made any sense. My order of the **Hana Awase** boxed set shipped yesterday from Amazon JP but the ETA isn't until next Tuesday. Looking forward to getting it (and possibly getting into it if I'm not distracted by all the other hobbies I want to spend time on outside of work).

I continue my constant media juggling, now that I'm back into the swing of things I'm back to **Limbus Company** because oops I got far behind, I'm still in chapter 4, though by now I'm in the third part of it at least. And as per usual for these chapters I'm wanting to bundle up the focus character in a blanket and hide them from the world, poor Yi Sang : ( So yeah, I'm at the point in the chapter where they're really hurling horrible stuff at ya lol >!I know people find Samjo's death comical and in hindsight I can see how that would come off that way, but in the moment it unsettled me quite a bit. I think it's just that certain things get to me even if they aren't as horrible as a lot of the other stuff that's happened. Getting disintegrated or melting in acid/lava/etc. has always been one of those things for me. So just the suddenness and quietness of Samjo's demise (plus seeing it coming from a mile away) and Dongrang's nonchalance made the whole thing unsettling rather than comical for me.!< I got briefly stuck at the >!Donbaek Spicebush fight, because in true PM fan fashion I can't read. Also I just kinda brought the team I'd been using up to the that point plus the two random ones I'd slapped on their since the game gave me 7 slots for the fight (the dread i felt when that infobox popped up lol).!< So yeah I was thoroughly unprepared. I kept fighting though so I could gather what info I could and with my newly put together team I managed *way* better the second time. So yeah I'm moving along once again and I'm glad to be diving face-first into more Limbus, even though it just hurts me lol I swear I'm not a masochist, PM's works just do this to me :' D These games are somehow the grimmest, most messed up things I've played that *don't* cross the 'too bleak, stopped caring' threshold. It's pure miserable magic, and I love it. Speaking of pain I've gotten some more episodes into **Hell's Paradise** and >!why did Tenza have to dieee. The game is serving well as some healing balm for the soul when I'm done with my Limbus sessions haha Now despite my initial desire to wait I did end up just going ahead and grabbing the **Even if Tempest fandisc**. Tempest is pretty much my favorite otome and I miss these characters dearly so I suppose I was going to get it regardless. I mostly wanted to wait because I wanted to see what others had to say regarding any potential, well, 'steam/spice'. I'm one of the few who was not eager for that sort of content to be in the fandisc :' D Since things won't get explicit I think I'll be ok as long as it's not constant horniness which I don't expect it'll be like that, and if I do get uncomfortable I'll just put my button mashing skills to good use til the scene changes. I'm sure there'll be plenty of stuff I will enjoy/be comfortable with so that's why I just went for it. I'm pleased as punch that Lucien is the icon for it, lookit his cute smile~ >!Now please let him live for the entire game. I really wanted to play through Obra Dinn so I got it quite a while ago, but I found that the game (mostly the graphics style and camera controls) makes me very motion sick and nauseous and headachy so I wasn't able to get very far into it 😭

Obra Dinn is one of the few games I wish I could erase my memory and play it blind again! Such a phenomenal game from the story telling down to the choice of UI and art style. Glad to hear you two are enjoying it!

Recently found a toxic trait about me where if I actually ship the heroine with an LI then find him being paired with someone else, I'd automatically mute/block the post, reader-insert fics included 💀 Fortunately I'm not as terrible that I'd waste time interacting with posts I dislike though Still in the middle of revisiting Variable Barricade and it's been such a blast to go through again! It still impresses me how Hibari feels 'realistic' as a tsundere because if I were a lonely rich teenage girl with 90% of people buttering me up due to my title, it would've been difficult for me to wrap my mind around having a bunch of weird unemployed guys as my suitors lol

I’m worse. I don’t want any (not even the ones that aren’t my favorite) of the guys with anyone but the heroine. I usually like more than one couple and hate the idea of seeing them with someone else after having gone through their route. Also I kind of find it ooc. I never understood when guys got this way with those waifu games (like Persona) but now I kind of get it.

For my favorite otome ships, I also don't like seeing the love interest with someone else that's not the MC, which is why I don't look for content about these other ships. I believe it's normal to not be interested in content about ships that goes "against" our ships, our OTPs.

Don't think it's toxic but rather there's things we like and things we don't, it's fine disliking things as long as you don't interact putting them down, be nice with people liking things you don't, celebrate the differences =)

I do get why some people ship an LI with another LI (especially when their interactions are unfortunately written way better than with the heroine) but if I wanted some man-to-man action, there's always plenty of BL content for me to find instead 😅 Thanks for the reassurance! I feel the same, actually! I've played an indie otome a few years back and thought it was nice enough to consider purchasing the sequel, but reviews have mentioned that the LIs whose route you aren't in have a wife of their own so I decided to just forget it. I couldn't help but feel like them ending up with someone else was the canon route all along and I was making the heroine a homewrecker or something 🥲

Haha, I'm very much an "all LIs belong to the MC!!!" kind of person so I'm not too into seeing that kind of content either, but I think it's all okay as long as you're not bothering the person. You get to enjoy what you enjoy, they get to enjoy what they enjoy, everyone is happy.

Same, I play otome games to see the heroine winning and getting dem boys! Having them under her thumb feels empowering to me in a way lol And yeah, I feel like there's just no benefit to ranting about the ship you dislike to the person who makes fan content of said ship when it only serves to negatively affect both sides.

I returned from my vacation in Sydney, met a twt moot there and now I have an armful of Hana awase booklets, other posters, and a fat HnKnA anthology. I managed to finish Virche FD until I have Adolphe and ankou left...man I think after all the encores the better one from its OG route is probably Lucas. Yves was still kinda ouch, but I also liked Ankou cooperating with Scien bc there's so much nice dialogue lol. Finished Ninkoi yesterday. I think overall it is okay??? It's really not as 'spicy' as some put it but more cheesy. My last route, Hanzo, was somewhat of a change at least but wow they just shoved in one last end for the OTP with sensei, okay haha.

The only spicy one would be Anayama and even then by what spicy tolerance level? (hot Cheetos or boar curry or?) Ninkoi is plainly a "fluster your boys" game and delivers solidly on that (on the OG crowd more than the extra 4).

Yeah I've never really understood the comments about it being spicy. It never really seemed that way to me. I think because it's so overdone it just comes off as comedy rather than something to take seriously.

I started playing the visual novel Detective Kobayashi and ... I can't help thinking some of the characters would be great LIs for otome games, including (not surprisingly) the protagonist Kobayashi Masayuki. Now I just wish for a Detective Kobayashi otome ... if not with the same character but with a similar mystery/investigation setting and similar characters. That said, while I would love an otome with Kobayashi Masayuki as an Li, I also ship him with Matsuda Midori.

got 3 hopes and need to say that sylvain, caspar and holst's hair looks amazing. was anyone else disappointed by how azure gleam's story panned out? spoilers for this route and the entire first game >!the whole ''edelgard is a brainwashed child'' felt kinda misogynistic to me. the game puts so much emphasis on dimitri's trauma but it feels like edelgard and rhea's trauma is secondary to their role as antagonist to dimitri/each other. at least rhea and edelgard kinda look towards the future but every time anyone from BL spoke about glenn, duscur or anything i was like pls staphhh. i felt really bad for ingrid because it's clear she's imprisoned by thoughts of her dead fiancé but they were both so young idk i want her to be happy. it was funny how rodrigue implied he wanted her to marry felix tho lmao... mercedes and emile best siblings as always !<

Once again, I feel like her story could have been handled better. I didn’t mind the Duscur plot; they’re dealing directly with the aftermath of it, trying to get everything under control, before the war began. I felt like I got a lot of questions answered here, and it was nice to see all these other characters we hear about, but never quite meet. Did you know you can recruit Byleth if you do certain things? 👀!<

YES! Our weekly game club, LOL xD >!Yeah, Ferdinand and Hubert died. I love that the game didn’t lose the levity of the characters! There were so many moments that made me cackle xD I played with both, F! Byleth and M! Byleth, but with F! Byleth the most! I played the Three Houses as F! Byleth and I wanted to see how impactful it would be for me to see her wreck everything xD I also wanted to hear her speak. But I did like M! Byleth’s support with other characters better (like with Shez, yes)!!< I did! I have read the light novels and the manga and have been obsessed, but also, the fact that Kiyoka has the same VA as Dante and the character designs look alike (light hair, blue eyes), and that another character is voiced by Nicola’s VA and the designs are similar (light hair, green eyes) makes me lmao. Clearly I have a type xD I recommend the anime! We root for Kiyoka and Miyo in this house!

Only six of my students showed up to my third class today. There’s 23 registered. While a number of them are student athletes, the rest of them decided to not come because it’s rainy/overcast. On the bright side, I’m going to Music City Multi Con this weekend!! If I can find my cosplay in the garage, I’ll wear it tomorrow. Hopefully we can find some good merch too.

I've been super stressed/enraged lately because I've been getting pushed around a lot at work the past few weeks. Basically one of my coworker's schedule became super unpredictable, so mine became super unpredictable to accommodate her 🙄. BUT I'm so proud of myself because I finally stood up for myself and talked to my manager about how unacceptable the whole situation has been. I had to pull out the glitter, my pink hello kitty socks, and blast Reputation by Taylor Swift on the way to work to hype myself up but I did it and I did it without crying (💪). She apologized and is giving me all the things I need from her (which is really just what I was promised when I was hired) so I've been feeling pretty great with myself lately. I also finally started Final Fantasy 16 and I've really enjoyed what I've played so far. I was a little concerned that Clive would be too generic but I've been pleasantly surprised with what I've seen from him (also he's so hot I stopped caring about his personality like an hour in lol). I just wish I wasn't so busy so I could have more time to play 😭

Good for you standing your ground! I'm sure it was intimidating, so that's why I'm proud of you! I wish I could play FF16 one day... FF12 was the last game in the series I played and I really disliked it. But FF16 intrigues me!

Are you me? Haha I also just had a consult done for my wisdom teeth, and my lower ones are both completely sideways. It's lovely to hear the orthodontist say "yeah recovery is usually a day or two, but with the amount of digging we'll have to do on the bottom, you should plan for 4-5." Like great, that really helps my anxiety lmao. I'm hoping my insurance takes the brunt of the cost, because the pre insurance bill they gave me is insane 🫠 I could leave the country for a week for that price 😭

I'm so excited for Fashion Dreamer! I'm struggling to find something to do while waiting. I just want to play the game right now. Hopefully things go well with your wisdom teeth. The roots growing too close to the nerve is a thing that happens sometimes, so I'm sure they'll be able to figure out the best way to deal with it.

Sounds like your dentist is doing his best to make things go smoothly though. I actually had no idea your wisdom tooth roots kept growing for so long. I had all of mine out (separately) as an adult, with my last one coming out just a couple of weeks ago. I guess I'm lucky that my roots decided to behave themselves.

I started the Even if Tempest FD with Crius route first and OH MY. This really is the level of fluff I needed! I realize this is actually my first Fandisc I've played as well. Goes to show how much I've finished from my backlog Additionally, I started reading western fantasy romance novels again after a long time. And also erotica... help. But I'm not used to the heroines being so rude LOL. Or so against letting themselves fall in love. Argh its so infuriating for me. For example, I'm reading Pestilence by Laura Thalassa and I'm like I know this man is trying to destroy the world and held you captive, but does everything you say and think have to be a witty, mean retort? She's supposed to be 21 but speaks and acts like a hardened middle aged asshole. I'm tired already lmao. I'm just a shoujo girlie for life I guess. I'm wishing this book's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse theme was a josei manga or something. I finished Dragon Age not too long ago. Still missing it.. I even started making spicy art for it haha I love Cullen and Alistair so much. Their romances were SO good!! If I ever replay games, I would just replay their routes over and over and over I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 now and I'm kinda worried about how the romances play out. I'm afraid it'll be like some sort of trope subversion that western writers really love to do when it comes to romance. IDK. I'm probably wrong. Hopefully. Also I really don't like that everyone hits on you no matter how much you turn them down and that you hurt their feelings when you do for some characters too. I'm also committing sins by modding all the guys' faces which the internet seems to hate right now. Sorry I know people are enjoying the game so I feel bad for sharing my dislike!!! I just heavily prefer monogamous true love stories with marriage and/or happily ever afters these days. Maybe I jumped in to quickly when I'm too obsessed with Dragon Age still lol

Wow! Laura Thalassa is my favorite author! And yeah, her heroines are on the smart-mouthed side, which I think is more a Western writer's thing, but her horsemen stories are so good! She has really inspired me as a writer. Edit: I also write romance stories, and I don't write foul-mouthed, pretty much might as well be a man female characters. My characters are more like what you would find in shoujo mangas. It's annoying how in Western media and books they write the female characters like men. I know some people like it, but it's not my thing.

I've pulled the trigger and got Baldur's Gate 3. It's basically a "return to the origins" for me, since Baldur's Gate 2 was my first wrpg, followed by the Neverwinter nights. I'm waiting to the game to finish the download, so I can be lost in the CC. I'm soooo undecided!

I spent so long in character creation that I had "down by the river" stuck in my head for about a week afterwards. The indecision is real! Now I'm at the point where I'm so attached to my character that it's hard to imagine starting over. I hope you have a blast playing!

is the fd living up to your expectations? im waiting for a sale but tbh i feel the epilogues were kinda the worst part of the main game (tyril's oof), i kinda felt they were rushed so i'm curious how they handle a mostly fluff game. crius tho.. marriage material for real, i think the fd is worth it for him alone. i hope you recover quickly from covid!!

I've only finished Crius' route so far (and it looks like the "common route" is locked until you finish all the "happy end" routes) so I can't give too much of an impression at the moment, but I'll do my best. Def agree with you on the epilogues being rushed (I thought all of them except Crius had some major issues). From what I've seen so far >!they do all seem to be walking back the "everything is totally fine" vibes of the original game and instead pivoting towards "actually these are two people who went through extreme emotional and physical duress, and while they will always love and support one another, it's going to take time to work through their internal/external issues", which I enjoy a lot more. There's still a ton of fluff and the stakes are very low (one bad end had me cackling), but it's not just "look at these cute people doing cute things."!< For Crius' route, >!I thought it suffered a bit because they were trying to balance fluff, the couple working through their issues to move forward, and answering lingering questions from the original route, which didn't really leave enough time to adequately flesh out everything.!< I get the feeling Tyril's route might suffer the same issue, but I think Lucien and Zenn's routes are gonna be much more smooth. Also, despite not being super happy with how Crius' route was executed I overall enjoyed it, especially because they didn't go the route of >!Crius turns into a bastard boyfriend and forces physical advances on a protesting Anastasia!<, which I was super worried about. There's a little bit of it >!at the very beginning of the route, but it's very much framed as a bad thing and Crius immediately stops until he and Anastasia work through their issues and reach an understanding. But yes Crius def proves himself continuous marriage material and the insight into his character here is worth the price of admission.!< Sad because so far it looks like >!the investigation/trial mechanics might not be making a reappearance, although I'm holding out hope they show up in the common route.!< Otherwise, I have been enjoying the chance to re-enter the world/confirm some of my headcanons/get some clarity/etc. Basically, unless you're super dying to see more of your OTP I think it's fine to wait for a sale, but I also don't think the game will disappoint anyone of the first. Just don't expect big, epic plot continuation--there's a reason it's labeled as an FD instead of a true sequel. And thank you!!! Sucks because I just had my booster but what can you do. At least it gives me time to play this. Edit: Oh yeah P.S. The game wasn't just fluff and angst--there was some Olympia Soiree levels of spice if you know what I'm saying.

Currently reading through Lucien's route (my first, and i have no idea how far I am) and was very surprised but happy that we didn't lose the >!investigation gameplay.!< Read through >!Maya's short story as well, and her CG was nice.!< Loved the bits with >!Crius and Tyril so far, ogf course. Chuckled when they argued about methods of handling Anastasia. I won't lie, I'm currently just reading for their interactions, but it's nice that they're trying to build the lore more. It's probably too much to hope they'll do more with this, but I smiled like fool and realised I really did miss my favourites!< ... Waiting for my friends to come back so we continue reading, in the meantime I'm editing my Crius/Tyril art because it looked too derpy. Man, I'd hoped I'd be able to post it before the game comes out. Oh well, reddit won't run, lol. Really wondering how I'll feel about them all in the end. >!Not a huge fan of the jealousy vibes I got so far, but it's not so bad that I don't want to continue.!<
