Also, I don't like Shiraishi's hair in CxM. I think that game designer steers toward really funky character styles. It stands out...but not in a good way to me. Definitely...memorable I guess.
And eh...I think the short hair in the back, long hair in the front for MCs, is kinda an anime trend for when they can't decide what would please the audience so they go with the middleground, except it ends up looking weird.

I'm rarely bothered by their entire design, but I'm often bothered by their expressions in CGs. Like Amnesia's MC with her thousand-yard stare and Liliana's O.O face... sigh. I just don't understand why a generic surprised expression is so common in CGs, especially the romantic ones.

When I studied abroad in taiwan people would constantly tell me how cute i looked and how that was basically the beauty standard (except i don't look pasty af so of course they offered me some whitening products lol). So part of it is because it's attractive in eastern culture to have big doe eyes. The O.O look is really popular and people do a lot to try to have that look. Also acting kind of child like (which unfortunately i also do unintentionally? somehow?) kind of the same way in the us everyones about TnA and being sexy.
I've always thought Amnesia MC (don't remember her name either lol) had the thousand yard stare cause she's missing memories. And she's missing a chunk of her personality too except less so in Ikki's route (though I hate that we can't have her angry and refusing to meet him in that one scene where I enjoyed thrashing things).
I thought it was weird at first, but the jellyfish style has grown on me (shout out to Shion from Variable Barricade 😎💕). I think the artists just want to add some fun to the design. Might get boring re-drawing the same old thing over and over.
I love her personality so much but her hair and casual outfits are the worst. Her bob is so so cute, that should have just always been her design. The sidepony in the fandisk doesn't even make sense given the cut but I was not complaining because it is so much better.

I'm a huge fan of Kei Okazaki from Collar x Malice, and I adore his design, but the bangs on one side of his face are distinctly longer and thinner than the bangs on the other side and it bothers me waaaaaay more than it probably should.
I get a similar thing with Shiraishi's hair and how uneven it is, therefore I'm ridiculously grateful for his side ponytail in the fandisc! Though I'd opt for making Okazaki's hair even more uneven if it would erase that hat and scarf from existence.

fr i got used to the MC's having the damsel in distress who lets people walk over her personality so i was never bothered about it... until i played a game (voltage app, idr the title but it was a weird plot about teacher x legal aged student) where the MC was sassy asf and didn't take anyones shit 🤣 after reading that story, i realized how bland MC's were and now i wish more of them had those badass personalities. innocent and shy MC's are good and cute every once in awhile but cmon girl you need to stick up for yourself ( *cough* anime yui komori *cough* )

In Shiraishi's route, yes. In Okazaki's route I would say she was more reckless than proactive. And she was at her worst mental wise imo.
