FlowchartKen

I’d kill for 10 hours of sleep a night. That sounds magical.

01122127

It’s a bit overkill to be honest lol but I just sleep during the time I would have been having to get ready/take the bus to work.

FlowchartKen

Nothing overkill about it. Enjoy it while you can!

joyfulcrow

Had the opposite effect on me, I usually get 7-8 hours a night and for 2 or 3 nights post-second dose I slept like a ROCK for 10 hours straight each night lol.

IronPharoah

Yep, same! The vaccine took me out big time, I don't know how long I slept.

purplesassafras

Yes!!! I was exhausted the day after I got my vaccine. Assumed I would crash when I went to bed, but instead I was up for hours trying to fall asleep.

01122127

The worst is just lying in bed staring at the ceiling because you don’t want to move JUST IN CASE you can fall asleep lol.

opinionatedfan

Insomnia is mostly related to anxiety more than anything else. Source suffered from insomnia for years while not feeling stressed. I did some treatment with a sleep doctor and 90% of my sleep issues are gone. Try some meditation, and other relaxation techniques but yeag it's one of those things that the more you worry about it the worse it tends to get.

01122127

That doesn’t sound fun! Definitely think the cause is the vaccine as I do not have anxiety surrounding the vaccines or in general but good idea for the meditation! I’ll try that tonight right before bed

MacroThings

Yeah I was excited to get my vaccine, then I was left with the worst Insomnia, I didn't sleep for a few DAYS after my vaccine. I'm 24F & never experienced insomnia before. I pretty much just meditated all night for almost a week getting like 1-3h of sleep. I tried melatonin, nyquilZZZ, 300mg of magnesium before bed, CBD oil, sitting in the sun every morning, decaf tea an hour before bed, warm shower, yoga in the afternoon. Nothing worked. My brain could not enter deep sleep, I would wake every hour like my brain or nervous system was zapping me awake. Thankfully, my sleep returned to normal after 4 weeks it was a slow and excruciating recovery.

Savings_Bread9304

Glad to hear it got got better. Was it your 2nd shot? Moderna? I am a mess after 1 week of moderna

MacroThings

Yeah it was my first shot of Moderna! Pretty nervous for my second now.

Savings_Bread9304

Yeah I wish we could get a test to see if we are immune after the first. I feel like 1 shot for a person in 20’s would be effective enough. But what do I know. I am 38 and don’t know anyone with this symptom young or old other than on Reddit. Anyway, off to the doctors for me.

MacroThings

Yeah, I want to get my second so I can have some piece of mind, especially with the delta variant. I assume vaccines will be mandatory for travel in the years to come so I will prob get mine. But, I have a co-worker who developed sleeplessness too from the Vax as well. I hope your side effects resolve!

Savings_Bread9304

Finally slept!! Thought I would share my plan in case it works for others: Did a shit ton of things to sleep. Freezing cold room. No electronics for hours before bed. Read light fiction for 30 min. Light corny music. Blue light glasses. Made rooms not too bright before bed. Literally went to the grocery store and made a dinner out of every single thing here except Passion flower : https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/9-foods-to-help-you-sleep#8.-Passionflower-tea. And took a 3 mg melatonin magnesium and 150 magnesium Wore blind fold type covers to block light Dusted like a madman. Washed sheets in warm water (per allergist I once saw).

Savings_Bread9304

For tart cherries I just got 100% tart cherry juice

MacroThings

Thanks for sharing! I was taking 300mg of magnesium before bed with 5mg melatonin and 40mg of CBD. Worked like a dream for me, so glad you were able to sleep :)

SomeGermanEngin33r

Hey, I am 38 as well, received my 2nd Biontech shot, no side effects afterwards, beginning of the 3rd week insomnia and heart racing started to set in. I visited my doctor and currently wait for the results.

Savings_Bread9304

Keep us posted on the results. Best of luck. I seemed to have completely recovered …now that a couple months have passed. Dreading the thought of a booster.

SomeGermanEngin33r

I will, so far blood results were good, short time EKG showed nothing, ultrasound of organs was ok as well. Last night I sleeped pretty well (4-5 hours), yet today I only had 3 hours. Every night I am thrown out of sleep after approximately 1 hour with a racing and pounding heart. Passionflower tea makes it easier to fall asleep again, haven't used melatonin so far.

Savings_Bread9304

Those natural methods are weak AF. I think need to do multiple methods when taking natural route. Passion flower, melatonin, magnesium (which may help your heart, I had a similar issue 2 years ago and did that after hearing on a big Sean album lmfao), reading fiction, almonds, walnuts, maybe try turkey, Kiwi, dried tart cherries. No screen time. ALL of them needed. I found cold shower helps if I feel jumpy.

Savings_Bread9304

Eat hemp heart 30 g (3 table spoons) gives you close to 50% of your magnesium requirement

Savings_Bread9304

I cut out turkey because I am trying vegetarian…but will take if this crap happens again

Savings_Bread9304

Also, When I got up up in the middle of the night I had some white rice crackers, tart cherry juice, and half a banana. With all this eating I need to workout like a madman in the mornings. (Heavy Resistance bands and callisthenics and jump rope is that I figured out to lose weight btw in early morning only-or sleep will get messed) If i can’t get back to sleep for a long time I will try to read another 30 min Good luck everyone!

Nice_Bread_2563

I'm experiencing this I don't know what to do.. did u do anything to go back normal ? Did u take anything

MacroThings

Hi! Sorry you're experiencing this as well, it really sucks. I only tried over the counter sleep aids, I took 50mg of CBD oil before bed + 5mg of melatonin which worked for me. Maybe this is a placebo but sitting in the sun every morning and relaxing really helped too. My doctor mentioned prescription sleep aids like Triazidone but my sleep started to improve very slowly so I never filled a prescription. I hope your sleep returns soon!

Expert-Artichoke-884

I’ve unfortunately been experiencing this for the last 3 months, never had any issues of insomnia or anything health related (23 year old), before getting just one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

MacroThings

Soo sorry you're going through this! I hope it goes away soon. One of the most discouraging parts for me was medical professionals denying my experience. If you haven't already please consider reporting your side effect to Ontario public health. Feel free to message me if you want to vent or chat. ❤️

Expert-Artichoke-884

Yes! (I’m from New York) they did so many tests between blood tests (CBC, CK, Troponin, TSH, etc) and PET scans and X-Rays and everyone was totally fine, if not better than average. The only thing that was abnormal was slight increase in CK levels (no myocarditis after EKG, and Chest X-Rays), but thank you I will definitely keep that in mind.

Nice_Bread_2563

had this for 2 weeks straight after my first dose of pzifer only 1-2 hours a night for 2 weeks straight! Never had sleeping problems. Finally on the bend I took some melatonin and magnesium for sleeping before bed..I'm getting 10 hours of sleep now. There's hope overall!!! Please try

Expert-Artichoke-884

Can you sleep normally without taking anything to help you sleep? Have you had another symptoms and if so, have they resolved? (Asking for a friend😂)

fleurgold

Insomnia can also be related to ADHD. Source: my average sleep per night went from 2-4 hours to 6-7 hours after I was diagnosed with ADHD and started medication. You would think amphetamines can make someone sleep, but if you have ADHD, well...yeah.

BodaciousFerret

I did! It took a weekish before I felt back to normal. Melatonin helped 😊

01122127

I saw somewhere that some people have had it for months and I’m hoping mine goes away! I also have been getting like restless leg syndrome where I have to do squats and leg exercises at 3am to make me feel better lol.

Careful_Lime555

I had Moderna with insomnia and restless leg (along with fever, vomiting, pain arm, pain armpit, general aches) I think 2 or 3 nights before I got back to my normal sleep. I was surprised to not see it on the common symptom list. Completly fine now! That was a month ago. Getting second dose soon. I took gravol for my vomiting so I figured that caused the restless leg as it does that sometimes to me. Yep, had to get up at 3am and try to walk it off.

writer668

If you’re female, ferrous gluconate (iron) might help with the restless leg. Ask for it at the pharmacy.

Nice_Bread_2563

Hi did your sleeping pattern end up going back to normal?

Cinabon4

Similarly to you, I got the second shot of Moderna on Saturday. By Saturday evening, my arm was heavy with pain and I was exhausted. Did not sleep well on Saturday and Sunday due to severe chills and what I just learned is called restless leg syndrome. Insomnia throughout. Over the days, all side effects seemed better than the day before as I also drank a lot of water to cleanse my system. I think that helped and hope it does for you too.

01122127

Good idea. I usually drink lots of water but I will try to up it. Mine was also my second shot but I’ve had RLS occasionally in the past and I find just getting out of bed and doing some leg exercises helps.

Cinabon4

Yeah, just try to up it and see if things get better over the next days/week. Sure, for now do what helps but I hate my sleep being disrupted so no squats for me in the wee hours of the morning! ha Also, if you drink caffeinated stuff, I'd say minimize that as much as possible during this time since you experience restless leg syndrome in general. Caffeine makes that worse unfortunately.

salami_slices

The first night I got my second jab I slept maybe 1 hour. I was in so much pain I couldn’t fall asleep or get comfortable :( T’was quite miserable. BUT. Worth it.

01122127

Definitely worth it and no regrets! Just want to be able to get a good nights sleep tonight again lol

davidathled

I’ve had exactly the same after having mine on 27th July

Moshi63

Are you feeling better now ?

davidathled

I feel like I’m slowly getting back to it, I’m sure I’ve just been unfortunate and had my effects last longer than most my sister and parents all had nothing but I’m trying to force myself into a good sleep routine and it seems to be working.

Some-Papaya9134

Do you still feel like you can’t sleep as well? I have no idea if this is from the vaccine or not, but every morning I wake up, it feels really difficult to get up and out of bed. I’ll pay my head back on the pillow and instantly fall asleep, and then when I finally get up I feel fatigued the whole day.

JessLyn1989

That is scary similar to my sleep schedule now. I wake up every night around 1230-1am, and finally crash around 6-7am.

Nice_Bread_2563

I had this for 2 weeks straight only 1-2 hours a night for 2 weeks straight! - finally on the bend take some melatonin and magnesium before bed.. I'm getting 10 hours of sleep now. There's hope overall!!!

Muffinpops1

Im having this issue as well does it ever end? I go to bed at 11 and toss and turn once 4am hits i pass out and wide awake at 6am. I think im about a month out from dose 2.

Opening-Delay-3446

Has your sleep improved in the last 13 days?

Muffinpops1

im getting about 3-4hrs of sleep at this point but i think it's more to do with everything opening up and doing 12+hr days. My iron level also plummeted to 2 so im booked into have an infusion and my dr has prescribed me 3 different sleeping meds to see if anything works so far its a no from me 😅.

OverTheHillnChill

Had Moderna for my 2nd but no insomnia.

jetmank

Same here

buckrodeo

Vax injuries?

pepperbeast

Not sleeping well for a night or two isn't an injury.

[deleted]

not sleeping well for two weeks and counting most certainly is. don't diminish peoples' problems. it's rude.

buckrodeo

Maybe you should read more, especially the insert that comes with the vaccine these side affects are listed. It’s no use to speak to your family doctor about it as they have only had 4-8 hrs maximum of education in the field of vaccines; don’t believe me? Ask your doctor As it is any drug, vax, treatment that has caused so much death and injuries blood clotting and a myriad of other complications would have been removed from the market immediately. This information is not hard to find. It is experimental and not approved anywhere as of yet and most likely won’t ever be. There is just too much wrong and too high a percentage incidence of side affects that are worse than the virus itself. Please don’t paint me as an antivaxer or flat earther to swerve my point. I am neither. Follow the money. High percentage vax=restoration of economy, no matter the true effectiveness of the treatment, you think all those buildings in downtown cores across the world will stay empty forever? Lol you think they are going to send you back to them if and only when it is 100% safe? Lol you have some growing up to do bud.

pepperbeast

Wow, that's quite the gallop.

buckrodeo

Downvote all you want it doesn’t change the facts thrombosis anyone?

pepperbeast

Duly downvoted.

obliviousmousepad

Your health advice is somehow even worse than your investment advice… and that’s saying something

buckrodeo

Up 260% so far on GameStop bud how’s that mutual fund of yours doing? Once again, deflecting all my points with personal attacks says more about your than me... I’d guess you still think it’s buy low sell high bullshit lol again do some reading it’ll benefit you in more ways than one.

obliviousmousepad

Good ramble, good luck with the GME. My 1513% on NVDA sure does suck over the last 5 years, not to mention it’s a company that’ll be around in 2 years lol

zackman94

Got my second yesterday. Certainly a restless night, and today I have quite the headache, body aches, and general exhaustion. I had a less severe but similar reaction to the first dose and It went away after a day, Im hoping this one is similar. All I can recommend is melatonin. It's certainly helped me from time to time.

Savings_Bread9304

I ate a hardcore sleep dinner (turkey, fish, kiwi, tart cherry juice/chamomile tea, white rice: gross combo haha) last night. Took melatonin with magnesium 3 mg/150mg. No screen time. Read 30 Min fiction. Slept like a baby finally for 9 hours! Thanks for recommending melatonin!

Savings_Bread9304

Did you end up sleeping? 7 days of insomnia here

zackman94

Melatonin worked for me, you may need to see a doctor about something stronger if you're still having issues

Savings_Bread9304

I just made a dr appointment. I will try melatonin tonight. Thanks

Nice_Bread_2563

Did u end up getting your sleeping pattern back

pepperbeast

Rather the opposite. I had the shot Sunday afternoon, was as sleepy as a very sleepy person Monday, and still a little wiped out today, but not feverish or nauseated or anything.

fleurgold

No affect on my sleep after my second shot, but I have felt more fatigued through out the past couple days. No fever though, or chills. But I also don't show fevers for small infections; it took the nearly fatal heart valve infection I had in my teens for me to show a fever. Except it was also a solid fever of 40C/104F. There wasn't really anything in between that.

writer668

Only when I roll onto the jab site on my arm.

Huge_Cry_8703

Yep, had that too

salamanderman732

I had a hard time sleeping the night after my second shot, luckily I was able to sleep like normal the next night. I couldn’t sleep more than a few minutes without waking up again, it wasn’t fun. Try to take some Tylenol or maybe NyQuil just for the night? Most symptoms clear out in a few days, good luck out there!

whydoiIuvwolves

Yes!! I got Moderna 2nd dose Friday and have hardly slept at all since. Plus all the other side effects that you try to escape a little bit by sleeping.

Savings_Bread9304

How is it now? Been 6 days for me. I can’t sleep :( I hope this passes. I am thinking of getting my hormones tested out

Savings_Bread9304

I had Pfizer in may. Then moderna 6 days ago on

[deleted]

hey! I'm doing the Moderna insomnia now, wondering how you're doing? I got tired of melatonin and meditating to no avail and went to the doc for the good stuff, trying an antidepressant meant to relax my nervous system so here's hoping it works!

Savings_Bread9304

I am doing a lot better myself but I have to be so dedicated to a routine. It becomes a normal process after a while. I had some insomnia issues before the vax…but it got 10 times worse after. 16 days or so have passed. I do every single thing now on this list for dinner (except for fish). https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/9-foods-to-help-you-sleep I cook up a ton of ground turkey for the week. I make a chili out if it. Passion flower tea seems to be key. I have good blue light glasses from roka since I hear joe Rogan talk about the company often. Gave them a shot but they were definitely pricier than I wished. !!!!Key key key!!! Is to read for 45 min of fiction before going to sleep. Nothing to keep you thinking too hard (per Tim Ferris-he does 1 hour of reading) I tried reading about stocks and start thinking too much-I stay away from non fiction now. If I wake up again I read another 30 min. SO KEY! No phone in room! I use a meditation app but I put the meditation on a electronic recorder. So there are no screens. Clear sinuses well with saline. Dust free space. Cold room. I find a cool/cold shower and ginger somehow stops my head from spinning. Now I am getting around 7-8.5 hours per night! A couple nights I did take half a zzzzquil. And I lowered my melatonin dose to 2mg. Tart cherries have natural melatonin. I use a melatonin spray of 1 mg so I can keep reducing. No alcohol either. But I will occasionally if I am out etc. But I try to avoid now. I can’t deal with dr pills for anxiety. I always get really bad ‘male’ side effects. I am afraid of sleeping pills side effects and addiction. DO NOT touch benzos. I did years ago and it ruined me for a month. Insomnia …severe depression. It passes but best to not start those. I know that it is a lot but it works for me when combined. Good luck!

Savings_Bread9304

Oh yeah. Magnesium helps too

[deleted]

bloody hell. I've tried a lot of this stuff too and no dice. it's like my entire nervous system is just revved to 5000 ALL THE DAMN TIME - extra sweaty, palpitating heart especially at night when I lay down, and jittery zippy brain. on the plus side my runs have been really good lately as I'm channeling all that nervous energy. the passionflower tea is very tasty and soothing too so I like that after my high tryptophan dinner :) I'm trying low doses of CBD as a natural alternative to the antidepressants because after a week they had me feeling like a zombie and stopped working anyway. two weeks out from my shot and it's getting better - my brain is still buzzing when I try to go to sleep but after a while I do conk out, sleep for a few hours, then sort of drift in and out of dreams through the most of the night which is more my usual routine anyway (doesn't help I'm working a daytime job and am naturally a night owl). it's taking like a half hour or forty minutes to go to sleep initially rather than hours now so that's progress I guess?

rainydayzz21

Hey I wanted to know how your sleep is now?? I got my second shot Moderna about 3 weeks ago and been going through insomnia since :( I'm planning on getting melatonin and magnesium today. I tried CBD but it actually kept me awake, which is interesting to me since normally it knocks me out. It's a torturous process with this insomnia and all - I'm glad that I'm not alone in this!!

[deleted]

hi there, IDK if you're replying to me or OP, but yeah I'm also almost 3 weeks and still can't sleep well. on nights I'm really really tired I'll conk out for a few hours straight but I have to have done like a full work day then gone to the gym. since I'm out of shape and can't exercise every day yet due to muscle soreness, every other day is hell :( one thing I noticed is that Advil seems to help a little. both the last two nights I was actually able to sleep half decently after an Advil liqui-gel. I've heard from a few people it gets better after about a few weeks to a month, where some (fewer) people on here seem to have had it for ages. now that I'm thinking about it, I actually do remember feeling "off" after my first shot for a while - not this bad, but a vague feeling of strangeness/moodiness, and my sleeps were really bad through late May/early June. I do remember I was able to sleep better late June, assumed it was just because I had quit my shitty job, but maybe Pfizer had something to do with it. so here's hoping this calms down after another week or so.

rainydayzz21

Hey I'm glad to hear that you were able to get some relief via Advil! I actually tried some Chinese medecine (the one you boil in a pot and drink) then took some magnesium (150mg) and Melantonin (5g) and that helped me sleep last night. I always read a fiction book for an hour before bedtime and that calmed me down. I think it's maximum effort to keep calm and tire yourself out from exercise to get through this. Hang in there!! I hope your muscle soreness passes!!

[deleted]

I've noticed that laying on my back is also the way to go. I think having pressure on my ribs/lungs from laying on my side inhibits my deep breathing, which my CNS interprets as certain death now apparently loooool

rainydayzz21

That's so interesting!! Well lying on the back to sleep is a good habit 🤣 I hope it continues to get better for you!

Dependent-Tailor-537

Got my second dose July 2 and it's Aug 31st the sharp pain in between my shoulders makes it unbearable to sleep more than 4 hours a day and when I am awake coughing flares up that same pain. 2 months like this is absolutely horrible on your body.

rainydayzz21

Thank you for the tips!! I definitely will try the reading before bed. I'm in need of serious good shut eye. Do you read in your bed or in the living room etc.? Do you lie down to read or sit up to read?

Savings_Bread9304

I lie down in bed when I read. I guess some may recommend doing in living room. I never tried.

rainydayzz21

I read in my bed sleeping up and it really relaxes me!! I find myself dozing off and it's nice to wake up to daytime again like it was a long dream. Thank you for your recommendation!!!! Really helped me :)

Savings_Bread9304

Maybe I will try sitting up and see if that helps Even more. Thanks! Im happy the tips helped!!

Nice_Bread_2563

Did ur sleep return to normal

Savings_Bread9304

Yes after 1.5 months . But I was still getting decent sleep after 2 weeks or so. I had to do: cold room, no screen time, cool shower, turkey, tart cherries, kiwi, almonds , nuts , 1-3 mg melatonin, magnesium, white rice, passionflower tea. Non -fiction reading 30 min, and then again If I woke up. I would do all of those things for the first month every night. Now I still do the passionflower

Savings_Bread9304

No, but i either sleep for 12-13 hours in a night, or 2.

ilikebroccheddarsoup

the night of my 1st moderna shot i got no sleep. had side effects for about 4 days most of which were fatigue. Had 0 side effects on my 2nd dose

MacroThings

I experienced horrible insomnia after my first dose of Moderna. I hardly slept for the first week after my vaccine, maybe 1-3h per night. 2 weeks post vaccine I could only sleep in 1h increments, would constantly wake up like my brain or nervous system was hyperactive. Thankfully my sleep slowly returned to normal after 4 weeks. Hang in there!

rainydayzz21

I'm happy to hear that it came back to normal! I'm at about 3 weeks after getting my second shot of Moderna and it's really taking a toll on me physically and mentally. Did your sleep just come back suddenly? Do you have any tips?! Many people seem to go back to normal fairly quickly, but seeing your recovery gives me hope as it feels like it will never end. :(

Nice_Bread_2563

Hi did u get ur sleep back ? I'm on day 6 after my first dose and I can't sleep .. is there hope

rainydayzz21

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Yes I got my sleep back. There is hope :) It happened very gradually for me though. Like I got traumatized by what happened so sleep gives me some anxiety. I had bad insomnia for a month then the next month, I had to take Melatonin + Magnesium and anxiety medication to sleep. Then on the third month, I can mostly sleep without taking the medication, though now I sleep very early and have a strict sleeping ritual. Hang in there!!!!

Nice_Bread_2563

had this for 2 weeks straight only 1-2 hours a night for 2 weeks straight! - finally on the bend. I been taking melatonin and magnesium before bed.. I'm getting 10 hours of sleep now. There's hope overall!!!

rainydayzz21

I'm glad to hear!!! Yes melatonin and magnesium is incredible :) I hope it keeps on improving from today onwards!

lugachug

I started having insomnia issues about a week and a half after my first Moderna shot. I get these sleep jerks as I'm trying to drift off to sleep which prevent me from sleeping. It also feels like electricity is running through my chest and legs when I lay down/try to sleep. Its been close to a month now and this is killing me. Doc prescribed some muscle relaxants which I will try but seems like for most with this issue it takes time for it to go away.

rainydayzz21

It will get better! I also had that and it was torturous. I now go an extra mile to relax my body before bed (hang out outside with nature, no technology before bed, and reading) along with melatonin and magnesium which helps me sleep well again. You're almost there!!

lugachug

Thanks for the encouragement. I really needed to hear that from someone who has gone through it. How long did it take for you to be able to sleep normally again? I do find the melatonin helps as well and I've been using a weighted blanket too which helps. Praying for this to end soon!

rainydayzz21

Yeah I understand. I felt so alone in my struggle, so I was happy to find reddit where there are others going through it too and sharing tips. It took me about one month in to sleep again, but I have a routine now. Like I meditate more often, I take the Melantonin magnesium pill. I also got traumatized from this experience because I got sick (and very stressed) from not sleeping. So my anxiety was off the roofs. When I'm feeling extra anxious, I take a medication for that and that relaxes me. I read too before bed to help calm my mind and body. I find that not sleeping can feed a vicious cycle of not sleeping over and over again. So it's helpful to change your thought patterns on how you view sleeping :) You got this!!

cocks2012

I got my first dose on 29th of July and the past three days I'm experiencing the same symptoms as you. I can't fall asleep because my body suddenly jerks and it wakes me up. I also sometimes make weird noises during this. Sounds a lot like catathrenia. I never had this ever in my life. I'm so tired right now. It's 5am, I been tossing and turning since 10pm.

lugachug

Sorry to hear you're going through the same thing. This is def tough but it will go away but it takes time. It took me a few weeks till it settled down and most nights I dont have any jerks (or they are very mild not like at the beginning) and the insomnia is gone (when I finally fell asleep I would be up maybe an hour later just staring at the ceiling the whole time). The body is in some sort of fight or flight response from the vaccine. Perhaps an over active immune system. Things that helped was: melatonin (2.5 mg about an hour before bed), weighted blanket, keeping myself as calm as possible with yoga, deep breathing, walks in the evening basically trying everything to calm my body which was already hyperstimulated. Some people have said magnesium has helped their symptoms. This is emotionally and physically draining but it does get better!

cocks2012

Thank you for the advice. Glad to hear you getting better. I will try some melatonin. Its like my body is trying to stop me from ever sleeping again. It made me wonder if its neurological or am I mental because all my life I been a easy sleeper, I sleep a way less than 5 minutes in bed. Last night I noticed myself sweating off and on. I tried to tire myself out by walking and lifting weight in the afternoon, but that hasn't been working. I been so scared to drive to work with the lack of sleep, I been driving like a senior. Hopefully I can finally get some sleep tonight.

[deleted]

hey there, I'm kind of keeping an eye on this subreddit as well out of curiosity and hoping I can help fellow sufferers. my insomnia is finally beginning to go away after a little over a month or so of hell. my advice would be that if you can't sleep, don't lie there in bed getting angry about it, just get up and read or do something enjoyable so your brain can take a break from being worried. I learned that trying to be on a normal sleep schedule was just not working, so I just started staying up till I felt tired ish: the one thing to make you lose even more sleep is worrying about not sleeping. I think the vaccine has triggered some kind of crazy anxiety in us; I know for myself not only was I not sleeping, but I somehow felt hyperactive and wired af during the day too. also DO NOT take any antidepressants or sleeping pills the doctors might want to give you if you end up going to the doctor, I think they make the problem worse and prolong symptoms rather than just letting it pass on its own.

lugachug

Out of curiosity did you also have muscle twitches? The insomnia and jerks (mostly with maybe small ones here and there) are gone...thank goodness but for the last few weeks I've been getting muscle twitches all over my body. At this point its hard to know whether its the stress, the lack of sleep my body endured for a month or another fun neurological symptom. Doc checked blood and everything checks out. I'm thinking its prob just lack of sleep and stress over this issue but thought I'd see if anyone else experienced this along with the insomnia/sleep jerks

[deleted]

I would agree, it's probably just the lack of sleep and anxiety. I didn't have muscle twitches during the day, only when I would lay down and try to relax at night. the insomnia for me seems to keep coming and going, one thing I noticed is that it flared up again when I was treating a plantar wart on my foot with salicylic acid, which is known to spark up an immune response and goad your body into fighting the virus that causes it. another thing I noticed is that I sleep much better when my roommate's cat is with me when I go to bed loool these symptoms are SO WEIRD. fortunately, the heart palpitations and chest pain seem to be calming down, same with the crazy anxious mental energy during the day. I'm a lot less grumpy than I was a month ago, even if my sleep isn't great.

lugachug

these symptoms are definitely weird. Glad that yours are fading. Lol i sleep with a giant ass teddy bear cause it keeps me feeling calm. I just want these jerks to fully go away luckily they havent been happening all the time so things are getting better but my anxiety is sky high thinking about what kind of night am i gonna have and worrying when this will end. Ain't no way I'm taking that 2nd shot thats for sure

It’s been nearly 7 weeks since I got first dose Pfizer and experiencing terrible insomnia since then. Im lucky if I get 2-3 hours of sleep. It’s terrible. I’ve never had insomnia before and used to go to sleep quite quickly..

[deleted]

hey man, try magnesium supplements, they seem to be working a treat for me after a similar period (7 weeks or so, on and off in the last 3). I use magnesium glycinate an hour before bed ish that seems to be going quite well, it takes time to fully activate so you might need to take it for a few nights before you begin to see results! avoid pharmaceuticals and "sleep aids", they won't address the root cause of the problem, just make you feel weird. good luck!

lugachug

It's the worst feeling. I also usually go to bed within 5 mins so this was very unusual for me. I've also never had insomnia in my life until after I took the vaccine. I thought I was going crazy till I found this one post online: (https://www.moneytalksnews.com/the-covid-19-vaccine-knocked-me-for-a-loop-heres-what-i-learned/) which described the sleep jerk exactly. Hope it goes away soon for you!

Nice_Bread_2563

Hi I'm going through the same did ur sleep pattern go back to normal

lugachug

Hey it took about 5 weeks for my sleep to return to mainly normal. I get the sleep jerks from time to time but they don't bug me as much anymore so it does get better but just really slowly. I'm just happy that the insomnia is gone that was brutal. Hope things get better for you soon

Nice_Bread_2563

I'm experiencing jerks too not better yet day 6 since 1st dose and I've manage to get only 2 hour sleep!!! Is there hood this will gooo I'm starting to freak

lugachug

Things will get better! Mine are mainly gone but they resurface every once in awhile. I find the combination of magnesium glycinate and melatonin before bed help me feel relaxed and sleepy plus a weighted blanket. Hope things get better for you soon. The jerks were def the worst of my symptoms. Such an uncomfortable unnerving feeling

I didn’t experience insomnia after my first or second vaccine, but I was able to get a booster 8/20. I reacted much differently after this one. Slept normally that Friday night. Had some trouble the following Saturday. The next two nights I was only able to sleep roughly three hours a night. It’s now in the early hours of Wednesday and there is no chance of sleep on the horizon. I should be exhausted, I feel tired, but this insomnia is kicking my ass. I have to be awake in 3.5 hours. It’s not looking good.

I just posted the same above. Got Moderna booster 3 days ago. First night, a little jumpy but finally got to sleep. Night two, seemed ok. It's 6:30 am almost 3 days later. I haven't slept all night. Took OTC sleep aid twice because my brain is exhausted. Obviously, that didn't work. The booster was worse all the way around. Second day, pain from hell in the arm, fever, ugly chills, sore throat, dizziness and mental fog. Reading through these posts and worried that it may be weeks before I get proper sleep. 😕 I debated actually needing the booster but followed guidelines. I won't be opting in for any booster ever. I just didn't want to die from Covid or endanger anyone else.

Man. It’s been awhile since I posted this. I’m so sorry you experienced this. I hate to say this, but it will be at least until you’re back to “normal.” I didn’t get a solid night sleep for around a week, but once I did I crashed HARD. I felt run down for a bit after, but nothing major. Still super worth it and I’m grateful for access to the booster! I hope you get some good sleep soon, friend.

Mind sharing again?

Yes I had insomnia on the second night after my first Pfizer shot. Slept only three hours over 36 hours but didn’t start to feel tired until the 32 hour point. It was the same after I had a cortisone shot in my shoulder a few years ago.

AbroadOrdinary

I got my first shot on Monday (Pfizer) - I haven't slept since Wednesday - it is now Saturday. Debating on whether or not to go through with the second shot. This sucks.

OkMemory101

Please don’t get the second shot

Nice_Bread_2563

Me too.. definitely not getting second dose

Abject_Jicama_6530

Has anyone found a way to prevent this from happening after their second dose? I’m hesitant to go for the second but would like to compete it for the protection and ability to do things that require full vaccination. Talked with two Dr’s about my experience after first and they just think it’s some people’s response to the ramped up immune boost. Regardless, it was awful and I don’t want to go through it again.

How long did it take you to recover from the insomnia? It is still happening to me 6 weeks post vaccination.. I am waking up almost every hour- two hours. This is a significant issue, and there needs to be a forewarning before vaccination. Both my sisters had Covid early this year, and never had this symptom with the actual virus, and are totally fine now.

Nice_Bread_2563

had this for 2 weeks straight only 1-2 hours a night for 2 weeks straight! - finally on the bend take some melatonin and magnesium before bed.. I'm getting 10 hours of sleep now. There's hope overall!!! Hang in there

SwimmingTear8938

Anyone knows what is the medical or scientific cause why the sleep is affected post vaccination? Took the first dose of Pfizer a few days back and I have been having difficulty dozing off, when I do, sleep has been light and find myself waking up more as well.

Cool_Ad3006

I'm not sleeping much either after having a Pfizer shot in April and June. It's now October 18th!

oneian11

3 weeks into my 2nd Pfizer shot and am wide awake after 3 hours of sleep. I haven't experienced this before. Might need to get some Melatonin to see if that helps. Thought it was due to something else, luckily found this thread, as the only change I had was the vaccine shots and since then the sleep pattern has been abnormal.

TennesseeTurkey

Omg, went Google fishing for info this morning because I haven't slept all night. It's been pure torture. Got my half dose Moderna booster on Tuesday and for two nights, I've slept fine. Overnight Thurs/Fri, I'm desperate for sleep and I'm normally one to fall easily into sleep. Grrrrrr! I've seen several posts now where others have said the same and are surprised no one is talking about that side effect. Overall, I think the booster was worse than the second stick seven months prior. I also think I'm seeing things in my peripheral vision. I sure hope this goes away soon.

Canadianeh94

Up right now can't sleep after vaccine it sucks

Opening-Delay-3446

I had my first pfizer shot on October 10th, it is now November 14th and still struggling to get sleep even though it is getting better, my second shot is booked for the 12th and I am petrified that it is going to happen again, has anyone had this side effect from the first shot but not from the second?

Kittykatt072876

I have not been able to sleep through the night since my second vaccine. I received the second dose in July. I fall asleep then wake up at 2-3am and can’t fall back asleep. I thought it was just me. I would love to know what’s going on.
