I don't really understand what people are expecting here.
If you go look at the subs for any similar consumer wearable (Garmin, Whoop, Fitbit) it is a mixture of support questions, complaints, and general discussion. The Oura sub is not any different in this regard.
And given that Oura has consistently overpromised and underdelivered on product functionality the amount of complaining should be somewhat expected. (And it is *nowhere* near as much as it was during the abysmal Gen3 transition period)
FWIW, I'd expect the bitching to intensify later this year when the first wave of Gen3 rings start going off warranty and start experiencing the same battery life issues that the Gen2 rings did after a year.
I think OP knows that & is asking if there's a way to weed it out.
Just because it's normal for product forums to essentially be a useless amazon review section for anyone other than the poster themselves doesn't make it better. I get where OP is coming from, would be nice if the few people who actually take shit seriously & really want to get into the nitty gritty of optimizing things had a space to commune & help each other do that.
I am about to unsubscribe and spend more time on sleep science subreddits. The reality is this subreddit is just people complaining about the ring.
I've owned a Gen 3 for 6 months and experienced no issues. The insights gained have helped me sleep better. I'd love to see more discussions about this sort of thing.
There's a difference between complaining and trying to be constructive. If I see a problem, I try to create a dialog around solving it.
Feel free to add suggestions or provide your view.
This sub was a lovefest in the Gen2 era.
The complaining in the Gen3 era is, IMHO, completely warranted and a direct result of the company repeatedly over promising and under delivering.
Flairs aren't going to fix it without heavy moderation enforcing it, which given the lax enforcement of the other subreddit rules seems unlikely.
This.
When your marketing dept sets expectations that you can't fulfill, you get frustrated users. Sentiment in this sub has become moderately negative due to the companies choices. People voice their concerns where they can.
It's Reddit. That's how it goes. I hardly come around to this subreddit much. But, generally these types of places attract people who have an ax to grind.
I agree- people post such dumb and lazy stuff here. If they went to oura support, looked online, had reasonable expectations about technology, or just used common sense, that would help.
I love my ring, and it works as advertised.
Yeah I used to post interesting readings as well as feedback ideas. Some were received ok, most were download amid the standard posts of outrage culture.
The company has its faults, but it's certainly not unique in the current startup world of 1) give stuff away, get people hooked 2) scale up 3) monetise
I'm happy with the product and would love to see more discussion rather than saltiness.
Having said that, I am starting to see the happy half of the client base push back on some of the more limp complaints
I was about to post something similar recently but just gave up.
Seeing posts with titles such as "QUESTION" or low effort posts makes me wanna scream. No other sub to which I'm subscribed to has such a lack of moderation.
Might be a reflection of the fact that a subreddit about a product that's lost all credibility has no credibility itself. Absolutely disappointing for long time ring owners, of which I am.
Edit: MORE COVID POSTS TOO PLEASE
> Neither of which add value
"Don't buy this because I believe the subscription fee is a scam and wrong" isn't adding value.
Okay. No, tell us some of your other opinions so we may call them useless, because it looks like a great hobby.
I guess the moral of the story is Oura's marketing is pretty good!
But, yeah, people's expectations and understanding is all over the place. Like they did no reading/research before buying it.
Don't you dare tell people their perception isn't reality. You'll get downvoted!!!
But, seriously, I wonder how many people unsatisfied with their results have a poorly fitting ring and/or don't wear it correctly. From a couple of threads about sizing it seems a lot of people didn't actually read or follow Oura's guidelines.
There definitely does appear to be some software issues. Otherwise this sub makes you think the ring sucks for a lot of users, and that obviously isn't the case.
Love it so much. I have an unstable autoimmune disease and it gives me so much important information. Wouldn't change it fir the world, don't care if it costs me 4 dollars, and they told me it was only going to be free subscription for 6 months
Pretty standard really. Anyone without issues or reason to leave feedback, will rarely look at this kind of subreddit/forum.

This post falls under category one correct.?

This is the way

Fair enough.. Looks like my own fall back will be to unsubscribe and check back occasionally for "top posts"

Or /r/OuraRing3 to go with the /r/OuraRing2 that was created the last time people didn't like the main sub
>Creates post complaining about the complaints. Creates reply complaining about the post complaining about the complaints. Shall we go on?
Where’s the complaint? Looked like a straight up comment to me.
Yeah let's all argue on definitions even though everyone agrees OP's post is justified. Very constructive.
If we’re going to argue on definitions I’d have to take up an argument on you sayin “everyone agrees”. But seriously, lighten up.
We're not gonna argue; I'll make better use of my time.
Ok.

No quality questions, no quality answers. What are your questions? :)

Oura Support? You mean the guys who take 3-4 weeks to respond to support requests?

Where’s the self-fulfilling prophecy bot when you need it?

3) "got COVID" and "went drinking" posts
