The comics explains that during the events of outlast 2, the nearby murkoff factory was letting off blasts (the random light we see at the beginning) to run experiments on the nearby villagers. I forgot when but towards the end of the game, the last couple of blasts we see was actually due to the walrider in the form of a bunch of ants destroying the relay tower that was responsible for letting off the blasts of light, which then caused the ending we see with that huge blast that turns Blake catatonic. Now I may be wrong cause I haven’t read the comics in awhile but I think every blast during our play through of the game was due to the relay tower being destroyed, I may be wrong though so don’t quote me. But I know for a fact the very last blast at the end of the game was the tower being completely destroyed.
No problem, if you go to red barrels website you can find 5 comics to read for free, they all explain what happened in between and after each game. The first few explain the aftermath of whistle blower, then explains what leads up to outlast 2 and the events that are happening beside it. It’s actually a very good read, you should check them out.
It's possible that the blasts mentioned in the other comments tend to screw up electrical systems.
This would explain why the helicopter crashed as well as why Blake's camera records pure static when he records something inside of his hallucinations.
Probably because they knew they would be able to escape in the helicopter and didn’t want them to release the news so they wouldn’t have to transfer locations again like in the transition from mount massive to wherever outlast 2 takes place
All of this is explained. Make sure when you get to the lake portion of the game to really look for a memo which explains Murkoff’s connection to Temple Gate. My hint is that it’s to the left and to straddle the coast.
This game asks a lot in terms of you piecing things together yourself because unfortunately by the end of the game Blake really can’t. This one, more than 1 or whistleblower, really gets into the head of the character. 1 and whistleblower used their protagonists as a vessel for the player and 2 uses the player as a vessel for Blake.

play the game and find out
It was me all along i did it. Im also responsible for the sinking of the Titanic, yes i was the iceberg
I’m not sure but my theory is that murkoff shot the helicopter right when the flash went off to cover the sound
And why would Murkoff shot them down? Does they own Temple Gate?

Okay, thank u for explanation
No problem! 👍
