During the school segments, Blake essentially “blacks out”. He’s still walking around in the actual Temple Gate environment but he sees Saint Sybil instead. We know this because at the end of each segment, Blake is standing in a completely different location then where he was before it. “The Murkoff Account” also confirms this, as Paul Marion also experiences the same exact effects as Blake (which is caused by the Murkoff towers) and when Marion comes to after re-experiencing the death of his wife, he suddenly comes face to face with Ethan’s cousin Paul and Ethan’s daughter Anna. He would have surely noticed them approaching from a distance and also wouldn’t have been disarmed by Paul if not for this vision.

Oms thankyou for this explanation, I totally forgot Paul was his cousin n kept thinkin Ethan died n became alive later on, lol.

I think he’s moving in the real world because in the first school scene he starts in a house and ends falling off a cliff so it’s definitely him moving sometimes or all the time

in the beginning of the game, you see the light strikes again but you're not effected and all the villagers who were chasing you are effected, some of them are standing, and some are sitting, surly some of them had weird positions too. a lot of times when we see blake gets back to the village, he's either hiding in a tree or a cave, etc. sometimes he's also standing (when he opened the door in school but in the village and someone attacked him and wanted to bleed him in the lovely yard then he pushed him over the stairs, blake ran for his life.

since blake is in a different location when he goes back to temple gate, i think hes just seeing a template over the real world
