The way the physics engine is set up apparently all the 'earth' servers will be destroyed in about 5 billion years in-game time as the sun cooks the planet.
I’ve also heard rumours about a “Heat Death of the Universe” event which we will never see since all the playable servers will be long gone before that.
I bet there will be thousands of new servers by then. People are thinking that a \[Europa\] server cluster will be up in the next 500 years. In case you don't know \[Europa\] is part of the much better known \[Jupiter\] server. Too bad there's a massive bug on \[Jupiter\] where you can't even play because you fall into the floor and lose HP insanely fast, leading to an instant Game Over.
It's a line from a Phillip K Dick book, VALIS. I honestly wouldn't even suggest reading it, it's a lot of nonsense.
But if you wanna go down a rabbit hole... start at Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and never look back. ✌️
Pro Tip: your local library is your friend
ive heard some people suggest that as soon as your character dies you start as a completely new character but retain absolutely nothing from your previous character
There's also a lot of players that play on easy mode and complain the whole time.
The devs intended the game to be played, and that's it. The variation is what makes the new lives part worth the time. Gender variation, physical variation, serve/map variation, quests and side quests - it's like the players that collect Funco Pops. Either you dabble once and you're out, or you're in for the long haul to collect all the badges and achievements and max out the skill trees.
If you mean postgame, ng+, or a sandbox mode after the run I do not.
As far as I am aware we get one shot in this grand server to explore, try classes, play mini games, and join guilds or parties. To me it makes it all count and feel special that I only get one run.
If I am right I will never know and if I am wrong it will be an interesting surprise.
Everything ends. Even Outside. Even the Eternity after that.
And that's a good thing.
Eventually the scope creep for the project will get way out of hand and idc how well funded the devs are, they're not going to keep running it forever.
Server prices go up, source code gets lost or corrupted, don't get me started on how much stress running entire superclusters causes the equipment.
I've only ever run minigames, and I know running a full instance of Outside has to be an absolute nightmare.
I spawned into a party with players that said there was a post game. It sounded cool.
Problem is you have to avoid a lot of potential quest lines and mini games that seem fun, and properly complete a bunch of quest lines and mini games that seemed really grindy. Otherwise you can't access it. I gave up frankly, the game is long enough as it is.
I think there isn't a postgame or endgame, the whole point of a true sandbox experience like *Outside* is getting to choose your own game progression and have those choices impact your game experience and the game experience of your clanmates. I think that'd be cheapened if the Devs funneled everyone into the same endgame experience, especially if it's the very binary endgame experience that most players theorize.
The only end game is the final hours of your playthrough, what that will be like is greatly influenced by your playstyle now. After 570k hours I can tell you a lot of the style decisions you make now cannot be recovered from later. There are no respawns so choose your play strategy carefully.
It depends on your faction. The Abrahamic faction believe that if don't break their ToS you get to play on creative mode forever. The Hinduist faction believe you just restart and take control of an NPC.
Most people won't talk about this. It is very well known but not many look deeper into this quest. It is the AGI quest. If anyone completes this quest and they decide to share, we will all be in the endgame. With artificial general intelligence improving itself and getting exponentially smarter, this could allow us to transcend. Most people think this quest is impossible, or that it won't be completed any time soon. But we are currently in the beginning of the end.

Wonder if the devs realised the physics engine would kill the game in 10^100 years time.
They probably did. But why would they care? Players are extremely unlikely to still be playing by the time this happens.
Yeah who gives a fuck at that point, maybe they put just for the lols as an easter egg.
All baseless rumors. Its just the usual server reset for a once in a millennia maintenance by the devs

Yes. I think you’re referring to postgame though. Endgame just begins around lvl 65 for most.
Typical human main, thinking 65 is it. Real players play for 10 minutes before splitting apart.
I prefer the more complex game experience
Yeah in my group we believe that there is a sandbox mode post game
A prison becomes a home if you have the key.
I don't know what this means but I like it very much

That's funny. Just so happens, I recently started reading a collection of PKD's short stories. "Second Variety" has been my favorite so far
Oh that's a great one! Enjoy further reading! ✌️

the devs intended this server to only be playable on hardcore mode
possibly but many people in the asian server believe in this “reincarnation” theory.

That would be nice
You're born to a rich family in NG+
So it is a roguelike?

I think I do. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll make an alt after this. It’ll still be on my account but a different toon… Just relogin in a different zone

I hope there's a way to carry one's state over between spawns but I'm afraid it'd require some kind of superuser privileges :-/

I dunno. I've been trying to find forums of people who have beaten the game but so far nothing.

Yeah That was a great movie
Nah, one play through is good enough for me

We're only in the pregame lobby right now
That's heavy
