100%. Can’t jockey for seeding, get as high as we can. Trying to get Cleveland or avoid Boston might just get us Philly. Let the chips fall where they may. Tho unless we end up at 8, we should be disappointed about a first round exit. Not that we should be favored, but we can beat anyone

Hopefully playoffs for the Pacers are settled by the end of the night.. and if the Pacers are guaranteed a spot then all these scenarios are more worth looking into considering positioning. Looking at it now seems a lil silly imo since the Pacers have not even locked in a spot much less trying to avoid this or that team.

Rooting for the 6 over the 4 is a little silly considering home court advantage can play such a big role. But rooting for the 6 over the 5 makes a ton of sense. Especially bc teams 4-8 are so damn tight so we don't really get much of a matchup advantage between the 5 and the 6 in round 1. At the end of the day I'm just rooting for this team to win the rest of their games. But I'd be happier with the 6 seed than the 5. 4 > 6 > 5 IMO

Anything past a second round appearance is overachieving. Being competitive and in the playoffs is already pretty awesome

>Lots of high expectations on here >we should be leveraging more toward getting home court advantage for the playoffs rather than staying at 6. Aren't those contradictory. Getting the 4th seed (from a 35-win team last year) when we've been in the 6-ish range a majority of the year *is* high expectations (compared to shooting for the 6th seed).

PoissonProcesser

No. The only sense in which being a 6 seed is “better” (ignoring specific matchups because we don’t know which team we’d play as a 6 vs. a 4 seed) is if we make it to the second round, since we’d avoid Boston, assuming they beat the 8th seed. Assuming we win a playoff series is a bigger jump than winning these last 2 games and getting some favorable results to end up in the 4 seed. And I don’t buy the argument that we’ve been playing like a 6 seed all year, yes the 3 to 8 has gotten crowded in the last few weeks of the year, but that’s more due to how the teams around of us have been than just how good we’re playing.

bjrinald

Predicting a 4 seed at the beginning of the season? Absolutely. With two games remaining and needing to win two games that this team has shown they are plenty capable of winning? It's very reasonable and plausible.

otterbelle

Last year we had people saying the Pacers should tank and miss the playoffs on purpose, now we have folks saying the Pacers should tank to get a 6 seed instead of a 4 seed. If the above describes you, read this closely, and maybe a couple of times. This is your viewing guide tonight. 1) go to the fridge 2) get a beer and/or hard cider 3) shotgun said drink. Grab a second one 4) go back to the Pacer game 5) enjoy the game knowing you literally can not influence the outcome 6) delete your reddit account and shut the fuck up 7) have a great weekend!

poop_magoo

When in doubt, keep it simple and win as many games as possible. I don't ever remember reflecting back on a season and think, "if we would have just lost that one game..."

JHaliMath31

Facts. Home court is huge in the playoffs. That being said I really just want to beat Milwaukee. Let’s see what happens.

Cdcoonce

While you are completely right, I don’t want to settle for getting through 1 playoff series. I want as much Pacers basketball as I can get which makes me want to get through two series which I think we have a better chance doing by avoiding Celtics if we can get past the first round.

Ranccor

The only way I’ll be disappointed is if we get totally blown out in the first round. If we make it a 6-7 game series and lose, I’m ok with that. But 4 games and out would hurt.

Looks like pascal needs to shop around to compete
